If one has faith in Christ why should they join (or return to) the RCC?

It’s both/and, like most Catholic answers.

Jesus did not command that a book be written of course! (Unless you can cite us a chapter and verse that says He did…🤷)

AND!

The Holy Spirit did inspire certain writings, which the Catholic Church discerned as theopneustos and canonized into the Book which you now consider God’s Word.

On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.” I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.

How about baptism? 1 Pet 3:21

And repentance? Acts 2:38; 2 Pet 3:9

And the work of the Spirit? Jn 3:5; 2 Cor 3:6

And eating His flesh? Jn 6

And declaring with our mouths? Lk 12:8; Rom 10:9

And coming to a knowledge of the truth? 1 Tim 2:4; Heb 10:26

And works? Rom 2:6-7; James 2:24

Oh, so you’re saying that only Revelation is inspired?

I agree those are all parts of what one having faith in Christ would do.
Sorry if my OP was unclear. I was referring to one that has a true faith in Christ, not a dead faith.

Not at all.

The Church knows that she is joined in many ways to the baptized who are honored by the name of Christian, but do not profess the Catholic faith in its entirety or have not preserved unity or communion under the successor of Peter. Those "who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in a certain, although imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church recognizes in other religions that search, among shadows and images, for the God who is unknown yet near since he gives life and breath and all things and wants all men to be saved. Thus, the Church considers all goodness and truth found in these religions as "a preparation for the Gospel and given by him who enlightens all men that they may at length have life. Catechism

You quoted from Revelation in which John was inspired to write a book.

Do you believe that John wrote the Gospel of Matthew?

If not, then what you are citing is an example of John being told to write a book.

Jesus never commanded Matthew to write anything. Unless you can cite a chapter and verse for this.

Jesus never commanded Mark to write anything…Nor Peter, Paul, etc etc etc.

Jesus did not command anything to be written. He did establish a Church and commanded it to spread the Gospel. The Scriptures are Church writings written by individuals within his Church under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

I get what you mean.
I thought one example would be enough to show that Jesus has told others to write.
Revelations was the first thing to come to my mind, Exodus also has several examples, and God even wrote the ten commandments with His own finger :cool:

With the Orthodox Churches, this communion is so profound "that it lacks little to attain the fullness that would permit a common celebration of the Lord’s Eucharist. Again, from the Catechism

I am getting the feeling that this is a Catholic teaching.
What is your churches view on when God told Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, John and any others I might have missed to write?
