Jimmy B,
Magisterium may sound like a “big word” that not everyone needs to know, but the concept is important for all Catholics of all education levels. The Magisterium is the teaching office of the Church. Without it (it is a gift given to us by Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit), we could not have certainty about the truths of faith we believe. Even the most simple and humble Catholic knows that the bishops in union with the pope have authority to teach and interpret the deposit of faith.
Every faithful Catholic lives in accord with the teachings of Christ as defined by the Magisterium, and thus every faithful Catholic lives in accordance with Magisterial teachings. “Fancy words” aside, that’s the truth.
