Because he’s an awful President and a jerk of a person. My late mother gave him the best description I’ve ever heard of him, about a month before the election, “He’s a foul-mouthed vulgarian who doesn’t deserve to be president.”
 
😂 I’m sure she voted for plenty of “vulgar” people…doesn’t matter if they try to keep it secret. For at least a century Presidents have not acted moral in their personal life. They are not religious authorities, only govt officials.
 
There is nothing wrong with what Fr Martin said. Jesus did spend more time with prostitutes and adulterers.

meh. As I am a person afflicted with asthma, we’d have been better off with a president who shut down the coal industry and clamped more environmental regulations on fossil fuels. I’d rather be pronounced a socialist than pronounced dead.

On the other hand, HRC wouldn’t have ended abortion as quickly as Trump did.

So I guess it’s a trade-off: my health for a fantasy public policy.
 
I don’t see how people don’t think climate change is an issue

I think fewer and fewer people reject the theory of climate change. The debate now is along the lines of whether it’s man-made, influenced by humans, or caused by other things.

Yes it is. The USA has basically the two party system. With a few exceptions, it is only the candidates from either the Democrat or the Republican party that are allowed to debate on national TV. Unlike in Russia where they allowed several candidates for president from different parties to debate on national TV. According to the political commentator Sean Hannity, the Republican party today is mostly a mirror image of the Democrat party, so that means that Americans don’t have the choices that other countries have and the two parties which are similar in many ways have a stranglehold on the American voting system

This is how Americans console themselves as they realize that there was no good choice in 2016 presidential election. Americans had to choose between two really bad candidates - Trump or Hillary because the two party system was stacked against them. So what do they do? They make up fairy tales about Russia, because they know that Putin was the overwhelming favorite and is very popular in Russia.

I can’t tell if you’re being satirical or trolling about how popular Comrade Putin is.

No one disputes that there was no good choice in 2016–as is often the case in U.S. presidential elections during my lifetime. But neither does anyone dispute that the political structure in Russia is based on a one-party system controlled by oligarchs and organized crime.

At any rate, I haven’t the wherewithal to debate the moral superiority of the Kremlin.

There are lots of Republicans running and lots of Democrats running.

And then there was Donald Trump. And no one wanted him … but he won.

It was supposed to be Jeb Bush versus Hillary Clinton … and Jeb was going to throw the election so that Hillary would win.

That was the plan.

But Trump had his name painted on his very own Boeing 757.

And he would fly low over the excited crowds.

If Hillary had flown her own plane, she could have pulled it off.

But she insisted on using OPP’s.

Other peoples planes.

Didn’t have the same galvanizing effect.

Sounds to me like more American fairy tales.
The reality is that Americans had only two very poor candidates to choose from in the 2016 presidential elections. After the primaries, the third party candidates were locked out of the nationally televised debates.

That surprises me, as one would think Fr. Martin has read the Gospels.

Who did Our Lord not break bread with? Was He not in the house of a Pharisee when the woman washed his feet with her tears and dried his feet with her hair? Did he get up and leave when she was judged? He didn’t. He even talked to Nicodemus in the dead of night, because Nicodemus hypocritically wanted to talk with Jesus without anyone “important” knowing about it.

He talked to everyone and ate with everyone. He didn’t spare them the truth, though.
