There is a tag “thread tools” in the top bar under the page numbers. Click there and select “unsubscribe.” That ought to do it.

Why must you be the fly upon the dung heap by even starting a thread like this? Sadly, I wish Biblical “fools” such as yourself would just let us be.
I guess you are not a grdener and don’t know that dung is one of the best foods for roses, along with ground-up bones. What you call this is your expereince, as you manufacture it by means of the divisive nature of mind. We all do that. And you are the one with the channel selector for your viewing pleasure. I showed Nagyszakall where the unsubscribe button is, you can use it too. Thanks for your comments 🙂 I like the idea of the fool on the hill. So many mistake gold.

I know what dung is, and I used to farm. So don’t get me wrong. I never said you were the dung, you are the fly upon it. Festering upon it disturbing the dung, then flying in my face, judging my faith as well as all others in these forums.

You are right, I chose to come on this site to show you Truth and to point out facts that you are what you are. If you are to come here and judge us, do we not have the right to turn the other cheek and dare you to slap it?

You make assumptions that christians have gay children. No one is born gay, and if you’ve bought into the media’s opinions on the matter and homosexual psychologists on the matter, that’s YOUR choice, and your problem.

So please don’t come onto a Catholic website with your jargon/garbage mentality unless you can back up your claims or you wish to GROW in the Catholic Faith. Otherwise, refrain from making such judgements about Christians. Thanks! :

I have to say thank you for helping me grow in my Faith though. Your comments usually make me stronger in it, so if you’re trying to accomplish the opposite, just know you’re failing miserably.

God bless! And I’ll pray for you!! I’ll pray for your salvation. And I’ll let God judge you. 👍

Your thoughts?
The meaning of this, as I interpret it, is that all gay people have straight parents, who did not teach them to be gay. That came naturally (or unnaturally, as some might say). IOW, being gay is not a choice or a product of the environment or learning. The implication is that straight parents should accept and love their children since the latter did not choose their sexual orientation but were brought into the world as they are by their parents.

There are a few errors and biases in the premise of the remark. First, while some straight people are offended by gay people, nowadays there is much more tolerance toward them. Second, the singling out of straight Christians is offensive since it targets Christians as a group as being particularly homophobic and paints nearly all Christians as bigots. Third, the majority of Christian religions, whether Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant, are not taught to hate gay people for their same-sex attraction but disapprove only of their behavior based on the faith’s religious beliefs. And fourth, a minor point, it is not unheard of for gay people to have children, as well as straight people, of course. BTW, this does not mean their children have a greater likelihood of being gay.

I have nothing against gay people. As they say, some of my best friends…I also believe, based on research as well as gay people I know, that having SSA is not a choice. In addition, I’m in favor of gay rights, including gay marriage, and do not believe most gays have an agenda, as many others on this Forum do believe. But I’m equally opposed to stereotyping ANY group, including Christians, which usually means either Catholics or Evangelicals. Fighting biased attitudes with prejudice is never a good idea.

Excellent! Thank you.

I agree, I don’t exactly know what to make of it. Same sex attraction is not a choice, to act on such where the end is a homosexual act IS a choice. Same sex attraction is nothing to be offended by, homosexual acts are unacceptable. Its just that simple yet people who push messages like the one in question seem to want to muck it up to generate and perpetuate confusion.
Kenny,

How is it you say that same sex attraction is not a choice? What is your factual understanding and acceptance of this statement?

Parents have children and some of them, about 3.5%, are gay. How is that political?
Gabe,

This sounds like you have accepted that being gay is genetic. You are on your way to accepting more.👍

“Gay” is a contrived term. People used to be named Gay at birth before the term was misused to cover for homosexual activity. No one is born “gay”. That is mantle they take up later in life as a political cause.
Amen, there is still hope:thumbsup:

There is plenty of false piety going around, it seems, so I’ll certainly take your criticism to heart. But, I think all of us should first remove the log from our own eye before pointing out the splinter in someone else’s.

This issue, just like abortion, is watered down too often.

Homosexuality is not a sin, anymore than hetrosexuality is a sin. The sin is the sex act outside of the sacrament of marriage, whether homosexual or hetrosexual. Therefore, a homosexual practicing chastity, is not in a sinful condition. But, many seem eager to chastise the homosexual while turning a blind eye to adultery and fornication by the hetrosexual.

And, while many are outspoken against abortion, they do so without taking on the bigger picture, that of the sanctity of human life, so they rally to end abortion but either justify, support or just do nothing to stop captial punishment.

Peace and all good.
Neo,

If a man commits adultery in his mind by his imagination why do you exempt the homosexual as sinning only if acting?

Kinsey first estimated it at about 10% Conservative organizations like to put the number at 1-3%. The 2000 US Census reported 1% of households claiming to be gay couples. Most experts put the number close to 10%. On average, in carefully worded surveys, the average American thinks that 20% of people are gay in the US, which is a very interesting result.

All of this has been collated by Gallup: gallup.com/poll/6961/what-percentage-population-gay.aspx

All that we really know is that it is probably a lot higher than 1% and a lot lower than 20%. With the support of people like the President, and the increasing acceptance of gay marriage, we are likely to get a better handle on the actual numbers. In 1992 38% of Americans believed that homosexuality should be considered and acceptable alternative lifestyle. In 2002, that number was 51%. If you extrapolate that trend forward, then the number is likely to be more like two thirds of Americans today accept homosexuality as an acceptable life style.

According to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, 78% of Americans are Christian, with 23% of them being Catholic. If one compares the number of adults who accept homosexuality as a valid lifestyle to the percentage of Christians, and the percentage of Catholics, it is fair to say that most American Christians and many American Catholics accept homosexuality as a valid alternative lifestyle.

These facts will make it easier to get more accurate estimates of the number of homosexuals in the US>
Ek,

These polls and attitudes are recent. I like tried and true old time surveys…I am going with one that is 2000 years old…
24Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Code:
26For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
Code:
28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.
Paul did a good job of summarizing attitudes.👍

Homosexuality cannot be diagnosed in the womb. Homosexuality usually doesn’t present itself until adolescence. That said, even if I did know I was pregnant with a homosexual person, I still would not murder him or her. I would, however, raise him or her to be chaste.
Holly,

This notion of believing that you could be pregant with a homosexual saddens me. If you believe that someone in the womb is homosexual how is it that would be proved. In my opinion it cannot and is nothing more than the brainwashing of those with this agenda.😦

If you are allowed to make these distinctions with regards to taking a human life, why can’t there be distinctions within sexuality. Can you see the difference between a promiscous homosexual and one that is in a loving, monogomous, long term relationship? How about married homosexual couples that adopt children? How is that any different than an infertile heterosexual couple that adopts?
Pete,

I see this…

Homosexual promiscuous, still a homosexual

Homosexual in a monogomous relationship, two homosexuals

Homosexual married and adopting children, two homosexuals perverting marriage and family

Infertile heterosexual couple that adopts, the norm

This is a good point. I guess because monogamy is more chaste than promiscuity. It’s not so much that you are choosing one person to be with, you are rejecting everybody else. This brings it further away from selfishness (the root of all sin in my opinion) and toward something that is shared. We need to move away from the idea that homosexuals act stictly out of lust, they can and do fall in love just like straight people.

**So only a female and a male can raise a child? What about single fathers or single mothers?/**QUOTE]

Pete,

So all things being equal and assuming that a marriage once existed…

Single parent as a result of death, divorce, incapacitating illness that renders the other partner as a non parent ie Alzheimer, etc…

Then we have a child raised in the premise of heterosexuality with a recollection of the other parent, time spent with the other parent and extended family that supports the norm.

All I said was that he was the first to try to quantify the phenomenon. There have been other studies since. The largely accepted number is around 10%. Religious groups with an agenda try to make a case for 1-3%. Gay groups with an agenda would put it higher.

The most interesting number to me is that the average American thinks that about 20% of the population is homosexual. That is according to a Gallup poll. I wonder where that thinking comes from.
Ekk,

Why is it important to rate the percentages of what one thinks. Thoughts change. Statistics change. Ultimately the numbers mean nothing. Homosexuals exist. I believe it is aberrant behavior. Statistics won’t change that.👍

Let’s break it down:

First of all, there is no such thing as a “gay” person. “Gay” is a politico-social identity that attempts to normalise same-sex attractions. Not all homosexuals are “gay”.

Second, who said we’re offended? Homosexuality is a disorder, yes, but we aren’t offended by it, any more than we would be by any other mental, psychological, or physical disorder. Mentally healthy Christians might be a bit taken aback by homosexuality, but we’re not offended. We want to help them.

You cannot have homosexual children (never mind gay children). Although, like any psychological disorder, you as a parent can unconsciously cause same-sex attraction disorder. It happens. It is not done on purpose. It is something of an accident - usually.

But it’s not normal. It is problematic. It does need treatment, as much as unconscious anger, alcoholism, commitment problems, and other psychological disorders ought to be treated. The same goes with gender identity problems.
Tark,

You may want to rethink the notion of a disorder. Homosexuality was once included in the DSM IV, however because of Homosexual Psychiatrists it was removed. The DSM is a book of disorders by committee. You may also want to look at one of the proponents Dr. Spitzer who recently retracted his study saying Homosexuals could be counseled to heterosexuality. I would shy away from calling it a disorder in the psychological/DSM sense. It is a disordered form of thought and that does not make it a psychiatric illness. A person that contemplates murder has disordered thoughts.

You could never tell in utero if someone will be gay. Sexual behavior is not an issue until well into human life’s second decade.

If there were a gay gene, it would be discovered by now. Most likely, that is governed by a combination of gestational and childhood factors.

I respect gay people, but like a gay man recently said on TV: “I’m gay because I like penises.” I don’t know why he felt the need to say that publicly. It is normal for sexual activity to remain private.

Peace,
Ed
Ed,

You point out an important part of the Homosexual agenda. Heterosexual adolescents talk about body parts…wow she has great xxxx…Did you see his xxx…it is an indication of two things. It is indication of an adolescent mind set and an indication that by introducing this kind of talk it becomes more acceptable and understandable.

I lived in San Francisco, dated an Australian nurse, and her landlords were gay. The studio where I lived was filled with gay people. Conversations and actions invariably turned sexual when they were around. When I was with heterosexual groups there was no conversation about parts or grabbing parts. It is part of the adolescent homosexual mind focus.

Observe behavior and conversation when you are with people at work that are heterosexual, parents or family and compare and contrast that with this statement above. I don’t need to know about someone love of whatever body part.

As Dr. Joseph Nicolosi put it during his broadcast not long ago on CAL, “gay” and “homosexual” are two terms which are often confused for being the same thing. The two are very different things. It is perfectly possible to be a homosexual and not to be gay.

A “homosexual” is someone who has an attraction, generally, to people of the same sex.

A “gay” is someone who believes this attraction is normal and ought to be normalised, to put it mildly.
Tark,

Not only do you now accept the agenda you are teaching a difference. You are on board.👍
