Sure, to the extent that they don’t make their desires the government’s business.
Uh…correct me if I’m wrong. Someone somewhere didn’t leave well enough alone and made homosexuality the government’s business (see
U.S. history) and now you are complaining that someone is trying to correct that? As for the aspect of it that you personally don’t like because you accept standards proivate to your belief system, (I’m being kind) you want to remove or prevent the rights of a faction of our citizenry concerning rights and priveleges accorded to*** you***?!?!?!?!?

By the same psychologists who have defined a Hypoactive sexual desire disorder, but not a hyperactive one.

Furthermore, I don’t trust studies that are 50 years old - much less Kinsey’s studies (upon which these are based). Especially when more is read into them than could actually be read. To quote NARTH’s website:

I don’t mean to hurt any homosexuals’ feelings. I mean to show them that, like all of us, they’ve got problems, and, like the rest of us, they need to fix them. They can’t hide from their problems, or that will only perpetuate their suffering, pain, and anger.

Pretending homosexuality is normal and acceptable will not solve anything. Unfortunately, it will only create massive problems for society as a structure and for the individuals within it.

Of course, the root of all of these problems is not homosexuality. It is in failing to understand our human bodies and our sexuality, and their part in God’s creation and plan for salvation. Click on that video link in my signature for a cursory introduction to the Theology of the Body. You may be surprised to find out why we say what we do.
Your view is antiquated. But I respect your right to live in your own world. Just keep it to yourself.

I do hope you are posting this as opinion because it is not fact. There does not have to be a “gay gene” for someone to be born with that propensity. It is not a scientific fact. Research has not proven either your opinion or mine.
Mary Bobo,
Many gay people themselves don’t believe that people are “born gay”.

“Born gay” is refuted even by a rabid feminist like Camille Paglia, but who, unlike some posters on here, has the intellectual honesty to admit the claim is total nonsense.
“Homosexuality is not ‘normal.’ On the contrary it is a challenge to the norm … Nature exists whether academics like it or not. And in nature, procreation is the single relentless rule. That is the norm. Our sexual bodies were designed for reproduction … No one is born gay. The idea is ridiculous … homosexuality is an adaptation, not an inborn trait.”

A leading gay campaigner in the UK recently conceded that homosexual behaviour can be changed.

Ekk1,
of course you regard views that conflict with “modern enlightened thinking” are antiquated, because it’s the same old story. Truth usually is the same old story.

Contrary to popular belief (like so many popular beliefs) Michaelangelo was not a homosexual, by practice or inclination. In fact he was deeply religious, although of an emotional temperament, virtuous, and rather fastidious about sexual matters. He did not pursue women, which is partly what has led some to jump to the conclusion he was gay. Also because several of the artists in his circle were homosexual, one in particular even nicknamed Sodomo. Michaelangelo was an artist with the quirks of a genius, and tended to see both men and women as the object of a sculpture first and a human being second. I have studied him extensively, so those of you lifting pet cliches off gay websites, please delete his name from the litany of illustrious gays.

Good to know. Thanks, Now if we could stop lifting some pet cliches off Christian web sites.

Homosexuality is not a sin, anymore than hetrosexuality is a sin. The sin is the sex act outside of the sacrament of marriage, whether homosexual or hetrosexual. Therefore, a homosexual practicing chastity, is not in a sinful condition. But, many seem eager to chastise the homosexual while turning a blind eye to adultery and fornication by the hetrosexual.

And, while many are outspoken against abortion, they do so without taking on the bigger picture, that of the sanctity of human life, so they rally to end abortion but either justify, support or just do nothing to stop captial punishment.

Peace and all good.
Exactly.

People do not choose for their children to be gay, it just happens.

Whose quote is that? Sounds like they are not the brightest…

Makes sense, I suppose you weren’t born waving a “human” placard. Maybe you realized later that that was a name you could call yourself for getting along in the world. And you are right. Women and slaves weren’t born carrying protest signs either. But darn, we ought make those gays declare on enterance who they are, eh?

Would y’all please explain how a “political term” has anything to do with someone’s nding to identify with a group? Hey. Democrat and Republican are “poitical terms” to get agendas across, so is “Catholic” or Christian." So are dempoctacy, sopcialism, and totalitarianism and my religious label in the heading. What’s the point here with this “political term” stuff?
What does it take to become a Ronin Catholic? I want in… lol… 😉 Of course I’m kidding. You sound more like a Ramen Noodle Catholic out of the cafeteria. You’ve got a lot to learn, I see.

Secondly. I hope you find the answers your looking for out of love for others, not discrimination and dislike, which is what you’re portraying. You are acting like a hypocrite by your writings and answers to others.

I get it. You’re mad. Something happened to you and it so happened to be someone who has Faith and has it right that disagreed with you. Who hurt you? I’ll pray you get over it and realize that what you’re seeking is Truth and that Truth can only be found in God. Repent and be cleansed of your sin, lest you continue to falter.

I am praying for you.

Please stop changing the subject. The Church is certainly not turning a blind eye to anything. However, have you read why Homosexuality was removed as a disorder by the American Psychiatric Association in 1973?

I have had no problems working with gay, lesbian and bisexual persons. I also worked in a hospital that practiced “sexual reassignment” surgery. It was not until 1996 that same-sex marriage became an issue - a political issue - in the United States. As I’ve stated elsewhere, no one needs my OK to do anything. So why was this put to a vote recently? What was the point of that?

Again, people around the world are doing whatever they want right now. I worked in a hospital and sometimes people were in the ER for a sex related problem aside from an STD. They were all treated. I have 100% no interest in the sex lives of my neighbors, but you don’t force others to do the following:

Yes, I feel so alone on here, having that condition!

In other words, I have done my own faithless work and asked myself some actual questions?

Thanks. I prefer you don’t, as most “prayers” are wildly misguided missals. But in praying for me you are praying for yourself, so be careful what you ask for.

Your thoughts?
“If straight Christians are so offended by Gay people, why don’t they just stop having them?”
Your thoughts?

I’m sorry, “having them… what?” Having them over for tea? Could you clarify please?

Yes. Having them over for tea. Or dinner, Exactly. Maybe you could ask one of your parents?

I believe that you are mistaken Homosexuality has not been classified as a mental disorder for 39 years. Hooker demonstrated in well designed studies that there was no measurable pathology associated with homosexuality 55 years ago.

Such untrue statements cause harm. so, please be more cautious when it comes to spreading falsehood.
Ek,

Homosexuality was a disorder according to the DSM until gay Psychiatrists changed it not to be a disorder in a later edition of the DSM. So the question becomes what in the DSM is a disorder and what is not? The other question is what would have happened had it not been for gay psychiatrists?

Your view is antiquated. But I respect your right to live in your own world. Just keep it to yourself.
Ek,

It would appear that you believe and accept Homosexuality as normal and part of God’s plan.

AAAAARRGGHHH!!! That is both awful and ridiculous! I feel ashamed that someone would “make” someon do that!

Thank you very much for sharing your medical experioence. I deem your attitude in this matter exemplary. Thank you.
Your welcome,
Ed

Ed,

Your link does not give the reason, the reason was gay psychiatrists.🙂

This was aired on NPR, Alex Spigels grandfather was part of this group…
81 Words, a 2002 episode of NPR’s This American Life that was recently rebroadcast, tells the story behind the removal of the homosexuality diagnosis from the DSM-II in 1973. You can download the audio or read a transcript of the show here: part 1, part 2.
The report is given by Alix Spiegel, whose grandfather, Dr. John P. Spiegel, was president-elect of the American Psychiatric Association in 1973 when this historic change took place. Alix describes the family myth – that grandpa had single-handedly changed the APA’s position on homosexuality and removed one of the major barriers to equal rights for homosexuals in America. The truth, she says, is actually much more complicated. Though he did play a role in this historic change, ‘grandpa’ was not the driving force his family believed him to be, nor were his motives simply those of dedicated psychiatrist and champion of human rights. In Alix Spiegel’s words:
… this version of events was discarded anyway. Discarded after the family went on vacation to the Bahamas to celebrate my grandfather’s 70th birthday. I remember it well. I also remember my grandfather stepping out from his beach front bungalow on that first day followed by a small well-built man, a man that later during dinner my grandfather introduced to a shocked family as his lover, David. David was the first of a long line of very young men that my grandfather took up with after my grandmother’s death. It turned out that my grandfather had had gay lovers throughout his life, had even told his wife-to-be that he was homosexual, two weeks before their wedding. And so in 1981 the story that my family told about the definition in the DSM changed dramatically.

Neofight,
you have you wires crossed there. There is nothing intrinsically evil with capital punshment since it is, under certain circumstances, a legitimate form of punishment for wrong doers and has the approval of the Catholic Church.
Sex outside marriage and abortion have no justification under any circumstances.
