If the bible is a Catholic book, why was it written before the catholic church began
Who says it was written BEFORE?

There is only 1 Church Jesus founded. That is the 1 Jesus put Peter in charge of. These are the facts and they are undisputed.

Ignatius, bishop of Antioch, you can read about him here.

newadvent.org/cathen/07644a.htm

a 1st century bishop is the first in writing (letter Smyraeneans) to call the Church, the Catholic Church. He wrote 6 letters to the Church in 6 locations before he was martyred
Only to the Church of Rome he says is the Church that holds the presidency.

Hank:
and why isin’t it used to teach with. Why when someone uses the bible in a discussion are they told by catholics not to use the bible in discussions because it is inaccurate?

I see Catholics use the bible copiously in conversations here.

well Hank the Church uses the bible more than any other group of christains outside of it do…as for the bible being inaccurate this simply means that the bible used (KJV) is indeed inaccurate, several spelling mistakes, grammar is way out to lunch, words put in it that don’t belong.the list goes on…
HankZ does share many traits with those who are KJV onlyists.

The RCC is not perfect, and Catholics aren’t perfect, neither are Protestants or Protestant churches.
Just for the sake of discussion and understanding,
What, in your opinion would constitute a “Perfect” Church?
Perfect Doctrines? What would they be.
Perfect History? No misteps by any of it’s members
Perfect Followers? No Scandals in the present or recent past?

I am truly interested in what, in your opinion would consitute a “perfect” Church.

The Bible is a Roman Catholic book? then why did they try to keep it away from R.C. laymen for so many years backin the day? if they produced it they should have been so proud that you,d think they would have given it away instead of keeping it under lock and key! maybe they were afraid of something, interesting.

When was THIS?

Would this be before the printing press when all the sacred texts were hand copied at huge expense? Just because everyone could NOT afford to have their own private copy made, doesn’t mean it was kept from anyone.

 sheesh!

If Joe six pak steals your only copy, do you know how long it would take to have another transcribed to replace it?

If it wasn’t for the Catholic Church you wouldn’t even have the bible.

Could you expound upon this a bit further?
Just exactly when - in the last 1500 years of the Bible’s existance is “The Day” you are refering to?

A church that Jesus leads. A church that is governed by Jesus himself. A church that has never went against Jesus.

And you believe that no such Church exists? Then:
  1. Why belong to Any Church and
  2. How can you be sure the Bible is true since it was compiled by an imperfect Church?

  1. Cause they can offer some good ways of growing spiritually.
  2. Nothing is for sure

Oh Ye of Little Faith.

The Statment you make above that nothing is for sure certainly undermines your screen name but it certainly reinforces your signature as a member of a counterfeit religion.

God is “For Sure”.
His Son is “For Sure”.
His Church Catholic is “For Sure”.

I didn’t think I’d have to mention the trinity for being for sure, but guess I was wrong…but sure if not mentioning it makes me a non-christian, then I guess I am?

Would you like me to re-register with a different screen name?

Nah - I’m just rattling your chain a bit.

However, you must remember that, by declaring yourself a Christian that you are binding youself to something you believe with surity.
That Surity comes through, first of all the witness of the Bible (shich you recieved from Holy mother Church) and through prayer.
If you doubt or belittle that surity you belittle your own faith.

I think well of you and hope you will take my comments to heart in Christian Love.

I believe what I believe, not what someone tells me to, I do not like being told what to do, and thats why I nearly got sent to boot camp when I was 14. I will believe what I believe and I will answer to God and god alone, not to a Church. I know that sounds ignorant, but its the way I am, I’d rather go to hell believing in what I believe, then believe what someone else wants me to and go to heaven, cause then I lied to myself.

In all honesty if this is truly your stance then maybe you Should re-register with a different name. For your attitude is completely lacking of Christian humilty and submission. It speaks only to vanity and pride.

Sorry to be so harsh. But to be otherwise in this case would be less than charitable to someone I wish to count as a Brother in Christ.

Then what we need to do is to get you to come to the conclusion on your OWN that Catholic beliefs are correct, and we can best do that by explaining our positions in as much detail as you need. It’s great to have blind faith, but it’s also good to be intellectually satisfied that you have no doubts as well. It is possible to be led to God through the work of His servants on earth.

Nicely put.
I’m afraid my response to CK was not good.
I’m still working on myself.
Mea Culpa.

What name should I be?

if there was something to hide why produce it all??why didn’t they(the CHURCH) just change it so the mysterious thing you claim that was being hidden wouldn’t be found?

the part about the intellect being satified is one of my personal favourite things about being a catholic.
sorry rolltide i couldn’t help myself in regards to CK…
one can ponder over the mysteries of our faith endlessly,it seems…and come out beleiving stronger then ever.
CK as much as you like to think you aren’t being told what to beleive you are, by your “faith” comunity.
