If the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church were united how would you feel about it?

The Catholic Church is relying on a faulty private interpretation of scripture as interpreted by your bishops and popes.
What is so hard to understand about that?
You have interpretations that come from your particular tradition; i.e. what you were taught by your parents, pastors, and friends, as well as your private study.

Of course, a Catholic’s understanding and interpretations of Scripture come from a Catholic viewpoint.

So we are at odds. The Catholic Church says that her interpretations and understandings are what was handed down by the apostles. There is a TON of evidence (found in the writings of the early Christians) which corroborates the Catholic position. (See catholic.com/library/fathers_know_best.asp for starters).

Can you show any evidence that your beliefs and translations/understanding of the Scriptures have any connection to history? Is there any evidence that the early Christians believed what you believe or have been taught? For that matter, can you show that any Christian prior to 1500 held similar beliefs? (A lot of guys will write books claiming so, but they offer no proof from original source docuents.)

If not, they are just the ravings of another heretic and the Bible forbids us to follow them

I do not believe any councils declaration had anything to do with it. God’s will be done. Any council was rubber stamping the work already accomplished by God himself.
Just giving my answer and I will also not discuss this anymore.
What was your question in the first place?🤷

The Holy Spirit guided the Council of Nicea in 325 AD when they protected the Divinity of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit continue to do so to this present day.

That is why I believe the Holy Spirit will guide both East and West into One sheep. One flock. This Church will be one. When it happens, you just let it brush it go because you don’t care. Jesus cared enough to** pray for it**.

.
My parents did not go to church. My pastor was an atheist like me. And my friends are of all different faiths. But yes absolutely my private study played a factor.

I care about people following the Bible and to the extent that churches that follow the Bible increases or new ones are built, I think that is a very good thing.

If you care about the Bible so much why cause division because that is unbiblical. Luther had not authority to separate. Where does say in the Bible that we can’t be united.

It doesn’t I think. Korah was the only one who rebel against Moses and Aaron.

The Early Christian Church was One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. Protestantism never existed nor does their doctrine of Bible Alone, an invention founded by Martin Luther.

So, in other words, you are not going to answer the question.

Again, the difference is in interpretation of the Bible. We all know what the Bible SAYS. You claim it MEANS something different than what Christ’s Church has taught for 2000 years. Can you show any evidence that your INTERPRETATIONS are supported by the apostles or their desciples?
I have answered every question.
One, I do not think you are Christ’s “Church”.
I think Catholics can be part of Christ’s church and I do not think the Catholic Church obviously is the church of the Bible or early history…and you would know I do not think that.
All of my interpretations come from scripture, which of the 10000 possible topics do you wish to discuss?

Well for one I could care less about Luther. Two read Corinthians and Revelation, the messages to the churches, the church was divided and in error. Peter was in error and Paul had to correct him.

You are being just ridicules by making the claim, part of Christ Church.

The Church is the Mystical Body of Christ. The Catholic Church is 2,000 yrs old. It is the Church that defended the Jesus Christ, and the same Church the form our Canon of Scripture which included the 27 NT.

The fact of the matter is that Protestantism is a fragmented form of Christian flawed its theology. It is flawed because there are over 33,000 Protestant denominations with different teachings on doctrinal issues. They aren’t even united.

I don’t both Catholicism or Orthodox will ever embrace Protestantism flawed theology formed by Martin Luther, and other Protestant Reformers.

Well heck, most of the people I know do not think you are part of it at all. I am the liberal in the group about that.
The Church is the Mystical Body of Christ.
That word, “mystical” does not appear in the Bible.
The Catholic Church is 2,000 yrs old.
Of course not.
It is the Church that defended the Jesus Christ, and the same Church the form our Canon of Scripture which included the 27 NT.
It was the church that formed from the errors of Christians centuries later.

Catholics are just as divided, in fact new “Catholic” churches are formed every year all claiming to be apostolic. Catholics ignore their own church teachings and are only united in a pretend world that does not exist.
I don’t both Catholicism or Orthodox will ever embrace Protestantism flawed theology formed by Martin Luther, and other Protestant Reformers.
Whole countries that used to be almost all Catholic are embracing the truth of the Bible sir. You know that as well as I do.

If the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church how would you feel about it?

Scenario: Suppose the Patriarchs of all Eastern Orthodox, the Bishops in the Catholic Church, and the Pope form a Synod and come into agreement and resolve theological differences, how would you feel about it?

Explain.
that would be one glorious day. not sure how it can be accomplished without one side compromising their vision of the truth, but one can always dream.

Start with your claim that the Catholic Church is not the church of the Bible. The writings of all the early Christians support the Church’s claim, not yours. Can you show ANY EVIDENCE to the contrary?

Here’s an example from St Ignatius, a desciple of St John the apostle. He traveled some with Sts Peter and Paul and was ordained Bishop of Antioch by St Peter, himself. As he was being lead to his martyrdom at the hands of the lions, he had this to say to the church at Smyrna;

“See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to celebrate a love-feast; but whatsoever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God, so that everything that is done may be secure and valid.”

Or this from his letter to the Pope;

“Ignatius…to the church also which holds the presidency, in the location of the country of the Romans, worthy of God, worthy of honor, worthy of blessing, worthy of praise, worthy of success, worthy of sanctification, and, because you hold the presidency in love, named after Christ and named after the Father”

God bless !

That’s correct ! We orthodox will never accept the protestants.
Martin Luther a catholic monk who married a nun and than interpreted the scripture in his own way.

The protestants accept Bible wich is a part of the church Tradition but not Tradition- reall funny.

It would be the same to say I like the apple but not the apple tree- do u not see that without tree u would not have the apple.

The want to follow the Scripture but in reality they follow not Scripture but their own opinion.

IN CHRIST

The protestants are iconoclasts and under anathema by the 7 Ecumenical Synod. You were condemned long before u existed !
Isn’t it funny ?

The Ignatius letters are forgories and I have a link but I have gotten in trouble for posting a link so can I PM it to you? Or is that against the rules?

Peter was in error because he didn’t practiced that he preached. He didn’t taught infallibly
The church was “One”. Which church in Revelation was it then?
Catholic, not even close.
They were one. In fact before the Muslim took over much of Turkey, one of the 7 Churches Ephesus.

When at the council of Florence in 1439 Mark of Ephesus (Marcus Eugenicus) showed himself so haughty toward the Latins, he was the pastor of a miserable village, all that remained of the great city which Pliny once called alterum lumen Asiae, or the second eye of Asia (Hist. nat., V, xxix; also Apoc., ii, 5; cf. W. Brockhoff, "Ephesus vom vierten christlich. Jhdt. bis seinem Untergang:, Jena, 1906).

Today Aya Solouk has 3000 inhabitants, all Greeks. It is situated in the caza of Koush Adassi, in the vilayet of Aiden or Smyrna, about fifty miles from Smyrna, on the Smyrna-Aidin railway. The ruins of Ephesus stand in the marshy and unhealthy plain below the village. There are the remains of the temple of Diana, the theatre, with a capacity of 25,000 spectators, the stadium, the great gymnasium, and the “Double Church”, probably the ancient cathedral, one aisle of which was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, the other to St. John, where the councils of 431 and 449 were held. The Greek metropolitan resides at Manissa, the ancient Magnesia.

Some of our saints, like Maximilian resides from there. Besides, back there was only One Church. It’s Catholic. PERIOD!

of his 13 letters, only 7 were found not to be forgeries. I already pointed this out to you.

It is funny, Protestantism condemned before they came into being.

Dude, just answer the question. We’ve heard this all before. Where is your proof that your ideas are supported by the early Church?
