However I do not receive it under the species of wine except on rare occasions when it is offered by intinction.

We receive the body of Jesus in the host, fully representing the body and blood of Jesus. No one ignores the blood of Christ. When I received my first communion it was as told by the priest the body and blood of Jesus Christ I never doubted for a moment.God bless

Why do they offer both at the same Mass?
If you receive the host, you’re receiving the body blood soul and divinity of Jesus Christ.
You don’t need both, one has everything.

As a lay person, only the Host.

As an altar server, since I’m kneeling behind Father, it depends. If he offers the Blood, I receive. If he doesn’t, no biggie.

At the parish I attend they offer both, but I see many people take only the host. This is probably expected, as the priest pours so little wine into the chalice that he must know not much will be needed. As he’s pouring I’ve noticed him glance up to get an idea of how many people are present. But even with a large attendance it’s just a few splashes that go into the cup.

Unless it’s Flu/cold season, I receive both. Nonetheless, this isn’t to mean those who don’t receive one or the other are ignoring. There’s a distinct difference between ignoring and bypassing.

I prefer not to take any chance on making someone else sick, if I think I’m contagious. Remember, one does not have to receive Holy Communion to be considered as having assisted at Mass.
