I know all those scriptures and agree with/ believe them.
I do not see only what I want to see. I see what God shows me.
You and other Catholics like you are one of my reasons for not being Catholic.

With an attitude like that, what in the world are you doing on a thread like this?? The TRUTH hurts. I believe what Jesus Christ taught HIS Church and promised HIS Church would NEVER error. He promised HE would be with HIS Church until the end of the world and the Gates of Hell would NEVER prevail against it. The only Christian Church that goes back to Christ is the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. And it still teaches today what Jesus taught the Apostles 2,000 years ago.
PS, I believe I was talking to Mystic Warrior when I gave those quotes from scripture. God Bless.

The real reason that I am not currently a Catholic is because I have never continued all the way through the RCIA process. And, last time, it was because I needed a sponsor and did not have one (one was not available at the church).

I hope you will try again, they could let one person be the sponsor for 2 people, I think. I think you should talk to the Pastor. He would know what to do.

It means your only hurting yourself if you let me or anyone else stop you from seeking the truth. I was only trying to help someone when you jumped in with your attitude.

IF your really sincere about unity then ignore everything else and study the Catholic Faith in sincerity and you’ll see the beauty in it.

I don’t know what denomination you belong to but look in any encyclopedia and it will tell you when and by whom it was started.

No one is born a Catholic, the journey starts at Baptism, and continues for the rest of life. In Heaven we are all going to be Catholic as we will all know the TRUTH

Excellent point. In the recent past, I went to a conference for Catholic educators. The main speaker asked, “how many here were born Catholic?” About 90 percent of the people in the room raised their hands. It’s very sad.

I think you should study Church history, and not simply the papal version of it either. 🙂

The West went its own way, separate from the East.

Most people understand that to mean they were born into the Catholic Faith and baptized when a baby. Its a common expression.

You have that backwards, it was the East that broke away from the Pope. But they kept the Apostolic Succession in tact and have all the 7 sacraments and believe the same truths as the West. They are working to become united with the West again. And I believe one day they will, maybe even within my lifetime. I would love to see that before I die. When that happens, I think we will see more protestant denominations reunite with the Catholic Church. Christ prayed that we would all be One in HIM. Division was NOT HIS will. Man is responsible for that.

The Eastern Orthodox Church has never changed her doctrinal beliefs. It was the development of the papacy and Rome’s understanding of herself that the East rejected, along with the filioque, which the West unilaterally added to the Creed.

Sorry, but you need to read the Bible more carefully, He gave the Keys to Peter, the first Pope of the Catholic Church. Read Matt 16: 18-19. You might read the Acts. of the Apostles too.

Well it took them 1,000 years to make up their mind then. to break away. You really need to study History. The “development” of the Papacy began with Peter.

The keys were given to all the Apostles to bind and loose. Peter is representative of the Church.
