Hi fbl9

Hi Whatis,

That’s OK for Catholics. But I don’t believe that at all. It’s a symbol of our dedication to follow Christ. We don’t eat our God! We do that in remembrance. We do not crucify Him every day!
This is what I am talking about with a shallow understanding of His word. The word rememberance in Hebrew holds a much deeper meaning than a simple recollection or “calling to mind.” The Hebrews of the old testament held a passover meal in rememberance of the passover. They didn’t believe that they were simply remembering what happened, they were making it new again, living it with their ancestors. When Christ says to His apostles, “Do this in rememberance of me.” They understood it with a much deeper meaning than an evangelical protestant of 21st century does. As Catholics, we believe in exactly the same way as the Jews who lived and walked with Christ.

As Catholics, we make present the sacrifice of the Lord. When the priest says the words of consecration, the sacrifice that takes place on the altar is one in the same as the one that took place on Calvary 2000 years ago.

It is important to read scripture through glasses of the ancient world in which it was written, rather than through the glasses of the time in which one lives.

Jesus’ word literally translated from His tongue…Aramaic:

Luke 22:19

And he consecrated the bread and pledged it and broke it and gave it to them and declared.

“This is my body that I give on your behalf.
This is what you shall be doing in your Offerings to me.”

I don’t believe them for a second. It’s symbolic and the Catholics are deluded.
Well, if you don’t believe “them Catholics”, you should at least believe what Jesus said in John 6 and at the Last Supper.

You explain this in a very modulated way and I commend you for that. You are exception on this site. Thank you so much and what you say makes a lot of sense. I wish others here could be so gracious.

I already took him there:

John 6:53
Jesus said to them,
“I tell you the truth,
unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,
you have no life in you.”

Namesake will not have life in him.

You mean “gracious” like you are?

You’re right, my mistake; but this is semantics the Hebrew people understood what Christ was saying as I said. By the way, which Aramaic translation of the bible are you using?

Well, most Catholics are on fire for Jesus, so it’s hard to remain modulated. At least no one called YOU deluded. 😛

Up yours!
This is a second time, you seem to be a rather hostile person, btw, this is akin to interrupting when someone is speaking to someone else, that message wasn’t even to you. There is a big difference between apologetical discussion / argument and bickering / name calling. If you want somebody to see your point of view, express your point of view in words, don’t try to shove it down their throat with a shovel.

Have you noticed that when anti-Catholics come to CAF and Catholics don’t agree with them, they start name-calling and telling us we are being uncharitable?

Have I?

But I notice it more when you prove them wrong.

They really become wrathful then.

Usually, I’d reply.

“Wow. That’s real ‘christian’ of you.”

But I just sent him a nice little video.

Did you like it?

😃
