PRIDE is one of the seven deadly sins. It is in fact so “deadly,” that Jesus once said to St. Faustina: “The torrents of grace inundate humble souls. The proud remain always in poverty (from grace,presumably) and misery, because My grace TURNS AWAY from them to humble souls.”
Every time I hear someone complaining that his prayers remain unanswered or he feels that God is far away from Him, I always remember this statement of Jesus, although I know one’s pride is not always the reason why God chooses not to be responsive to prayers.
Pride can take many subtle forms that oftentimes we don’t know exactly WHEN we are being prideful. Written below are the various manifestations of pride cited by a therapist, author, and marriage counselor:

Exposing one’s weakness is a sign of humility. According to James 5:16:
“Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed.”

criticism - Discriminating others
- Defensiveness
- Superficiality
- Being too consumed with what others
think - A lack of gratitude in general
- Neglecting others
