Supporting life from the moment of concpetion on. How about you?Define pro-life.
I personally extend my definition to include opposing Captial Punishment but the Church does not.

Ah…capital punishment. It should be used rarely and only when it is the only means to protect the people. That’s a paraphrase from the CCC. I don’t have a problem with that. It is used too often. And now-a-days through DNA we’re finding people convicted of crimes many years ago that they did not commit. It takes a great faith to be able to never want to see it used. For that I applaud you.Supporting life from the moment of concpetion on. How about you?

Unfortunatley the “seamless gament” argument is too often used to justify supporting pro-abortion canidates under the guise of “social justice” it is for this reason the Church rejects it.Ah…capital punishment. Life is sacred from the instant of conception to natural death. From some of ProVobis’ posts over time, I think he/she believes the same thing. But I shouldn’t speak for provibis.
I know exactly what you’re talking about. I live in a liberal state where gay marriage is legal and “Catholics” frequently vote for pols that support the ?right? to abortion. It’s a very sad situation. What ever happened to the right of the child. After all, that’s what a woman is carrying once the old sperm and egg get together.Unfortunatley the “seamless gament” argument is too often used to justify supporting pro-abortion canidates under the guise of “social justice” it is for this reason the Church rejects it.
It’s unfortunate that license plates are only used for political purposes and accomplish little. I would think “supporting life from the moment of concpetion on” (your definition) applies to all of us, don’t you? But seeing that you’re so heavily into politics, I’m currently on a Q&A session with my U.S. Representative. What do you suggest I ask him to know if he really “supports life from the moment of concpetion” more than his future in politics?Unfortunatley the “seamless gament” argument is too often used to justify supporting pro-abortion canidates under the guise of “social justice” it is for this reason the Church rejects it.

You should seek out some people who disagree with this view, and witness the truth of this teaching to them. I thank God I have the oppertunity to bring this issue up with people!Yes and fortunately I don’t know of anyone personally who doesn’t.
Ask him what steps he is going to take to end abortion in this country. i am heavily into politics as i recognize it is the only way we are going to end this evil. It’s unfortunate that license plates are only used for political purposes and accomplish little. The argument you’ll get is that a baby isn’t alive until he is viable. Up until then, he’s (or should I say “it’s”?) an extension of the woman’s body and the mother is free to have “it” removed like a kidney. Never mind that “it” has independent thought, emotions, and can feel pain.Supporting life from the moment of concpetion on. How about you?
You are likely correct. Did you read my post, #124?The argument you’ll get is that a baby isn’t alive until he is viable. Up until then, he’s (or should I say “it’s”?) an extension of the woman’s body and the mother is free to have “it” removed like a kidney. Never mind that “it” has independent thought, emotions, and can feel pain.
That’s a pretty callous position to take, but many pro-choicers take it and it’s hard to argue against. “Can it survive on its own? No? It’s not alive.” (Though I don’t think any Catholics can use this argument to avoid excommunication given the explicitness of CCC 2274, but I assume non-Catholic Christians could use it for cover.)
Hmmm…if we use that argument, then we can say that people on ventilators are not alive either, since they would not be able to survive w/o them. The argument you’ll get is that a baby isn’t alive until he is viable. I can’t believe you’re dismissing a priest as arrogant based on three lines of information from someone who is not the priest. You can judge his words all you want (though I don’t advise it since we don’t know the full story), but you can’t judge the content of his heart. You have no knowledge of his intent or motive. The Gospel says that by judging him, you judge yourself.
(On a side note, I just noticed that this is my 500th post. :extrahappy![]()

Huh? If you don’t know the answer to that, “you shouldn’t be here”.Define pro-life.
Look over s/his voting record. See what Pro Life steps he has made. It’s unfortunate that license plates are only used for political purposes and accomplish little. One can disagree with his demand people buy a license plate while applauding his forthright explantion of Church teaching on abortion. The former was a mistake on his part, the latter we need a lot more of. It is interestig how many people want to attack him over the license plate but ignore the rest of his messageWow I leave this thread for a few days and it goes from 3 pages to 10 now. Its threads like these that I love on CAF as they reveal more about the posters beliefs than about the thread itself.
I am reminded of the TV show ‘The West Wing’ when the character CJ made the comment about Internet people, “they forgot to take their medication”.
It is heresy for this Priest to say that its a sin of omission if you don’t buy the Pro-Life license plate.
When I read the utterly absurd comments defending this Priest, I have to say that if the people who run Pro Life organizations are like this, then NO WONDER we haven’t achieved better success with Pro life efforts.
It is utterly irrelevant if a Priest can require to purchase something in the confessional because he didn’t say it in the confessional.
This is very important, the proof is in the voting… I was shocked that my Senator (Kay Hegan) actually supported the original Nelson Amendment! It’s forced me to continue looking at her voting record with regard to abortion issues to see if she keeps up a consitant pro-life position.Look over s/his voting record. See what Pro Life steps he has made.
