Well, can’t a man sour-grape for a friend?
Sorry but the fact remains: both articles were written by different men. They are both different accounts and are from the perspective of two different people.
Keating just discredited the priest who wrote that the Philippines is in the Far East but he offered no alternative where the Philippines might be. Maybe, Keating thought the Philippines is in the near East or middle East.
Uh, excuse me? We are not in the Far East either. We are more of a part of South East Asia. We’re one of the popular members of ASEAN for pete’s sake.

EDIT: Bigger candidates would have to be Japan, Korea or Eastern China.

Regarding whether the Philippines is in the Far East or not, I just couldn’t believe people will believe that it’s not just to disprove something about the Iglesia ni Cristo.

The US Army Forces Far East command was headquartered in Manila. Probably, Gen. McArthur got it wrong, too?

East Asia is under the umbrella of FAR EAST.

According to Keating’s account. Arguments for Manalo’s status as holy prophet derive from the part\ about an “angel” from the “East” is being mentioned. What you fail to consider is that the Far East can cover a wide range of countries.

Also, I admit a slight error, Far East Asia actually encompasses the whole eastern half of the continent. What’s interesting though is the fact that we are still South East Asia and not East Asia. I’d rather place my bets on more oriental nations like Korea or China than Indonesia or Malaysia for this so-called “angel from the East”.

Let me post it again:

*I smiled. “Look, Bien, do you think you Iglesia folks might have an interest in another debate with Catholic Answers when we’re here in January?” *

Here’s what I said: I also found out that Catholic Answers would like to have another debate and I guess that is to get even from their lost in the first debate. I

The fact remains, Patrick Madrid spent some of his time to request for ‘another debate’, even if it was in 1996.
Menorrah
you are speaking like a true INC member. you read an entire article (or bible passage), look for what conforms to your belief, comment that particular section, then take it out of context, disregarding the entire point of the entire paragraph/article/story

read the entire article for once and understand it in its entirety. Patrick was in the Philippines to prepare for CAs participation in World Youth Day 95. he dropped by the INC headquarters to gauge their intentions for WYD, and made such SARCASTIC remarks. its sarcasm. its very obvious in his statement. learn what sarcasm means

It seems to me that it’s really in his itinerary during that visit. And this is funny:

We sparred for fifteen minutes or so, and out of the corner of my eye I saw Paran jotting down notes. For all I knew, the whole thing was being videotaped through the two-way mirror behind Santiago’s desk, and I was being weighed, measured, and CAT-scanned, all for some sinister use by Iglesia at a later date.

He probably had a goose-bump.
i love your never ending ad hominem
you can never discredit Patrick for what he does and what he stands for, so you just end up calling him names like sour graping and bitter and all that

the Far East during the 1st Century AD when John wrote Revelations was India. they were largely unaware of the presence of anything East of India, which would include China, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc.

Proper English Menorah,

“LOSS” not LOST.

INK are never chronologically correct, they do not need to be, they just want to ‘win’ the
argument or debate no matter which way they do it. That was for all to see in that
debate with Ventilacion.

The Pilipino term is ‘mababaw,’ and that is the typical INK, logic to them is as ‘mababaw.’ They cannot process such words as ‘nuance.’ They cannot seem to
‘distinguish’ or ‘discern’ the different levels of words and terminology. “Polyvalent”
terms to them have no meaning.

here is an anecdote on the past elections. INK did not support ERAP anymore (because the INK waits until the very last moment and picks the candidate that is ‘lamang’ ergo NOyNOy), and this INK taxi driver merely said that they did this to prove to all that the INK cannot be
‘ruled by any one politician.’ The analysis here is that the so-called ‘EDSA Tres’ where we saw 24/7 the New Era Television (NET 25) broadcast that whole brouhaha…& resulting in ERAP being convicted & going to jail was such a trauma and a negative mark on the INK and their total support for ERAP, but they cannot say this publicly and now they say, " you see, they chose to support NOyNOy and he won, … that proves that the INK has God’s favour … and we are the ‘true church of Christ’ Iglesia ni Kristo…
One can just imagine the (individual) INKs internal dialogues in such a tedious vein.

There is another example of their ‘mababaw’ logic and INK apologetics.

Discussion with them is pointless, and I am told they are disallowed from similar discussions w/ non-INK. They cannot debate ‘properly’ (logically/fairly) with anyone for
their INK belief and tenets are ILLOGICAL & UNTRUE.

Let us pray for their conversion to the Truth, for there are also many good people in the INK, that the One, Holy, Catholic & Apostolic Church (established by Our Lord, the 2nd Person of the Blessed Trinity, Jesus Christ Himself) resides only in the (Roman) Catholic Church.

Live Jesus in our Hearts, FOREVER.
