No it’s not. Religious belief is irrelevant for matters of law.
Yes. Peoples religious beliefs are in general irrelevant in so far as what should or should not be secular law. If you want the state to acknowledge the Catholic definition of person-hood as a bases for changing the abortion laws, then you must provide genuine evidence that a foetus has a personal soul, for abortion is only murder according to the Catholic definition and not according to the states definition of a person.

H

I know of no traching of the Church past or present that says the right to life is predicstef on having a soul.
If a foetus has no soul then it is not a person according to the Catholic definition of person-hood.

If this country was a Catholic theocracy then you would have a point. But the only arguments that would hold any weight are secular arguments. Religious views of the person doing the arguing are irrelevant because law is not based expressly on religious beliefs.

A states definition of anything is not stagnant, it changes with the views of the people. Otherwise black people would still be property.

In terms of whether a foetus should or should not be regarded as a person my point stands correct in a circular society since it is not me who is saying a foetus should be considered a person in a court of law, but rather its Catholics and Christians who say this according to their beliefs. Abortion remains legal because there is no secular grounds to justify the criminalisation of those who have abortion because there is no secular grounds to consider a foetus a person.

Yes you are correct. Person-hood is not defined according to the Catholic understanding of person-hood. That’s why its not murder in the eyes of the courts.

The legal system does not arbitrarily change according to the will of the people either. There was no genuine secular justification to think that black people were less than the legal definition of what a person is. If they had genuine evidence to support their claims, black people including my self would still be slaves.

As has been shown again and again you have no idea what church teaching on Abortion is based on-you continue to obsess about souls and personhood-neither of which is a factor in why the Church opposes abortion. Again you continually present a circular argument-abortion should remain legal because it is legal.

Nothing you are saying here is true. You have no argument, only assertions.

Don’t forget the athiests & agnostics who want the law changed. Do you expect them to argue Catholic reasons as well? Or do they get held to a different standard than Catholics? You do realize that Catholics believe in science too, don’t you?

Baloney…with a side of pickles. The law is changed arbitrarily all of the time. Congress people are the ones who make law based on the views and changing views of the people.

It took a civil war to change the status of black people from property to people. It had nothing to do with secular arguments. And even granting them personhood didn’t bring their status up much.

Secular “reason” doesn’t always end well. The “science” of Eugenics gave plenty of “evidence” that black people among others weren’t fully human. The government used those studies to do all kinds of unspeakable things to people including forced sterilization and experimentation.

Nothing you are saying here is true. You have no argument.
You have provided nothing to support your position other than misrepresenting Church teaching , muddled arguments about “souls” and “persons” and of"abortion must not be made illegal because it is legal.

So you are saying that this pseudo science was essentially correct? That is the only baloney I see here.

Another assertions that does not represent the actual facts and that is another reason why people like yourself will not change the law.

I am not denying that the law has evolved. But whether or not a law changed because of a civil law is irrelevant. The legal definition of person-hood has nothing to do with slavery, and everything to do with why abortion is legal.

Pseudo science;Like human life does not exist until the mother says so?
Science cannot determine that a foetus is a person. That is a philosophical or religious interpretation that is not self-evident or presented with genuine scientific evidence or evidence.

.
Abortion remains legal because there is no secular grounds to justify the criminalisation of those who have abortion because there is no secular grounds to consider a foetus a person.
So abortion must remain legal because it legal
If a foetus has no soul then it is not a person according to the Catholic definition of person-hood.
Gross misrepresentation of Church teaching, continued obsession with poorly formed ideas of the relevance of “souls” and “personhood” to the right to life.

If it is not a baby what is it!

Unborn babies are already persons under most aspects of the law. It is only a matter of time before unborn babies are persons under ALL aspects of law. 😃
