It would seem from what I have read that Blyss has lumped LEGAL immigrants with ILLEGAL immigrants…and feels that neither groups children should hold citizenship…

You think those of us who are citizens don’t send money to the IRS? If you live here you should pay taxes, whether you are a citizen or not. I don’t care one way or the other whether you become a citizen of The US or not but it does seem that becoming a citizen would eliminate a lot of hassel from your life, like not having to renew your green card. That is your business and I am sure you have your reasons. I know that if we ever moved to my wife’s birth country (Italy), I would never give up my US citizenship.I dont explain anything…what is there to explain? Do you think we sit around and kibitz about our Citizenship status?
My kids all hold dual citizenship…they enjoy certain perks…like not being harrassed over seas becuase they do not travel on their American Passports
so Blyss just what extra perks do I get?? Oh wait it must be that check I send the IRS each April 15th…that is a really awesome perk

Lance climb down off your horse…I do pay taxes…never have shrugged away from thatYou think those of us who are citizens dn’t send money to the IRS? If you live here you should pay taxes, wheter you are a citizen or not.
my greencard does not require renewal…so there is no hassel but thanks for your concernI don’t care one way or the other whether you become a citizen of The US or not but it does seem that becoming a citizen would eliminate a lot of hassel from your life, like not having to renew your green card.
exaclty so why should I have to surrender my citizenship?. I know that if we ever moved to my wife’s birth country (Italy), I would never give up my US citizenship.
Sorry if I sounded like I was on a high horse, it seemed that you were saying you got nothing for your taxes. Mis-communication on my part!Lance climb down off your horse…I do pay taxes…never have shrugged away from that(as much as I may like too) …but I was trying to figure out just what PERKS I get that my kids are American? So the comment about taxes was said in sarcasm(missed that I guess) I mean I had my eldest after being in this country for over 15 years…so I did not have them to garner some “special perks”
my greencard does not require renewal…so there is no hassel but thanks for your concernand outside of that concern there is no hassel
now my mom has a green card that has to be renewed but still no hassel she can do it all on-line
exaclty so why should I have to surrender my citizenship?
thats ok Lance…Sorry if I sounded like I was on a high horse, it seemed that you were saying you got nothing for your taxes. Mis-communication on my part!
Do you know for sure that this view is not the view of a majority of the American people? Has it been put to a vote? I stated it was MY view and I think it is unfortunate it is not the view of those in government. They pander to whatever way the wind blows. As for being charitable…what is so charitable about letting people come in to this country…take advantage of services they have not helped pay for and terrorize American citizens? CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME…Wrong. The govenment should reflect the will of the majority. Being still mostly a Christian nation, I do not think you will ever see a majority hold to such an uncharitable point of view,
Did I tell you to move? Please point out where I am supposed to have done that. I am not riled…although I think you are a bit flustered. I don’t get riled about something I can do nothing about. My first allegiance is to GOD, and then my FAMILY and then my Country![]()
And why should I move that would mean taking **my American husband **and my American kids away from their home (USA)
Dont get so riled up Blyss…we areALL part of one BIG MELTING POT…we are ALL children of GOD …no need for such animosity!

Uh…where did I say anything even remotely like what you quoted above? Everyone here should pay taxes as long as they are not low income. You feel as you do about becoming a citizen and I feel the way ***I ***do. If you have been in this coiuntry for 30 years and your hubby and kids are Americans…then why would you not want to become a citizen? That really makes no sense.
:heart:Blyss
Did I tell you to move? Please point out where I am supposed to have done that.
.blyss said:Then maybe going back to where you came from might be the thing to do…because it is obvious you don’t like it here enough to become a citizen
not at all…just amazed at your comments is allI am not riled…although I think you are a bit flustered. I don’t get riled about something I can do nothing about.![]()

First off the quote (You think those of us who are citizens don’t send money to the IRS? If you live here you should pay taxes, whether you are a citizen or not. I don’t care one way or the other whether you become a citizen of The US or not but it does seem that becoming a citizen would eliminate a lot of hassel from your life, like not having to renew your green card. Everyone here should pay taxes as long as they are not low income.
Once again…why should I? Do I extra perks if I do? (the only perk I see is getting to vote…I’ll pass on that one as there is no one worth voting for to start with)You feel as you do about becoming a citizen and I feel the way ***I ***do. If you have been in this coiuntry for 30 years and your hubby and kids are Americans…then why would you not want to become a citizen? That really makes no sense.

Karin…let’s say you are German by birth and your children by virtue of YOU being a German mother have dual citizenship. Is that what you are saying? If so…you have made my point…they hold citizenship of the country YOU are from. I think that is the way it should be…regardless of where they were born. Too bad they are harrassed when they travel overseas on an American passport. I notice alot of underlying hostility from you about anything American…which might be why you have never bothered to become a citizen of this great country.I dont explain anything…what is there to explain? Do you think we sit around and kibitz about our Citizenship status?
My kids all hold dual citizenship…they enjoy certain perks…like not being harrassed over seas becuase they do not travel on their American Passports![]()
As for “kibitzing” with the kids about your citizenship…don’t they ever wonder why Mom never votes?
:heart:Blyss
Yep…I sense hostility on your part against anything American. Why is that? I would think if I were so dissatisfied with a country where I am not even a citizen that I would not want to remain there and raise my children. Just wondering…Once again…why should I? Do I extra perks if I do? (the only perk I see is getting to vote…I’ll pass on that one as there is no one worth voting for to start with)
They hold Citizenship of the USA firstly…my country does not allow **adults **to hold dual citizenship … so when they are 18 they have to choose…either US or Other.Karin…let’s say you are German by birth and your children by virtue of YOU being a German mother have dual citizenship Is that what you are saying? well they where born here hence they aer AMERICAN…and my dh is getting a kick out of your comments that his kids should not hold American citizenship. I think that is the way it should be…regardless of where they were born.
LOL!Too bad they are harrassed when they travel overseas on an American passport. I notice alot of underlying hostility from you about anything American…which might be why you have never bothered to become a citizen of this great country.
nope…but I do tell my dh whom to vote for…As for “kibitzing” with the kids about your citizenship…don’t they ever wonder why Mom never votes?
:heart:Blyss
well I remain here my dear Bylss because this is where my FAMILY isYep…I sense hostility on your part against anything American. Why is that? I would think if I were so dissatisfied with a country where I am not even a citizen that I would not want to remain there and raise my children. Just wondering…
:heart:Blyss
I have no problem with you being here Karin…as you are here ***legally. ***I just feel sad that your children will probably pick up on the hostility you have for the country that has let you flourish for 30 years.well I remain here my dear Bylss because this is where my FAMILY is
As to hostility towards Americans…no more so than what your fellow citizens hold for their own country![]()

How do you suggest Citizenship should be determined?
Also as a side not…even though I married an American and my kids by birth are Americans I do not hold any extra rights being their Mom…you do know that right!!!
so Blyss I am still waiting to hear about these extra perks/rights that I supposdely get?!?!?!Quote:

Glad hubby can have a laugh:thumbsup: I am always ready to help out…They hold Citizenship of the USA firstly…my country does not allow **adults **to hold dual citizenship … so when they are 18 they have to choose…either US or Other.
And may I also add…they are only eligible for this (Other)citizenship (as a minor) if their fathers agree.
So this proves nothing…if their fathers did not agree they would still be American citizens
well they where born here hence they aer AMERICAN…and my dh is getting a kick out of your comments that his kids should not hold American citizenship
LOL!
Actaully they have never travelled on their US passports…the countries we do visit on occasion really do not like those “blue” passports
underlying hostilty like your underlying hostility to legal American Citizensand immigrants
nope…but I do tell my dh whom to vote for…![]()
well that is nice to know Blyss…so it is just my kids being American that bothers you?!I have no problem with you being here Karin…as you are here legally.
Well, Karin…you have the perk of actually living here. But from the way you come across, I don’t think you would think of that as a perk. Sad to say…so Blyss I am still waiting to hear about these extra perks/rights that I supposdely get?!?!?!
