Is that a bouncer?

If it is, this device is less dangerous for baby’s safety because he cannot walk.

But by many now, including me, it is considered as anti physiological, because the baby is maintain in standing position, whereas he is enable to do it naturally.
Like for anti-physiological baby carrier, we said he is sustained by his genital parts, and it is also not great for his back.

Pethaps it is funny for some babies, but it is a question of moderation: not to much time, and not to relieved the parents from care.

This is similar to what my son had.

He enjoyed it for brief periods.

Interesting about the sling, I was looking on Amazon for the front padded slings I used to love where the babies legs would have openings but can’t find them. All I see are pages and pages of these front carriers that look like sheets wrapped around you. I just would like the basics that I remember worked so wonderfully in the past. I will go for the newer baby bottles I’m seeing though, I think before I just got the ones at the pharmacy but there’s something about seeing so many 5 star reviews on amazon for this one product. I remember the days of cutting the plastic nipple to make the hole larger, I wonder what’s out there now lol, it couldn’t have changed that much, it’s a baby bottle.

If you end up having to get one of those front carriers that looks like a sheet, I highly recommend the Baby K’tan. It’s much simpler than some of the others. I even got my husband to use it. 😉

Thank you for the recommendation. I admit it was perplexing to see so many products looking exactly alike after pages and pages and I couldn’t find the (very popular at the time) style I used back in 2000.

Yeah, they aren’t playpens. They get tired of that position after a while. My son used to love running back and forth down the hall. He would follow his sister around on her ride-on. It also put him at the right level to watch and play with his sister at her table. It probably wasn’t the best investment, since he really only used it for maybe three or four months, but it was a gift to us.

@MarthaSo,

If you are looking for physiological carrier for your baby, it means that the baby’s spine is in a form of a “C”, and not a “I”.
Like that:

You have many options! Depends on your preferences! If the product is complicated, some formations existed.
The best is to try before the purshase.
For eg, for my first, we paid a specialist physiotherapist to give some lessons.
For this pergnancy, the midwife ho will gives me birth lessons will explained the basis.

You have :
  • a baby carrier:

  • a asiastic clothes product, such as mei-tei:

  • a scraf:

  • an extensible scarf:
(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
  • a sling:

Thoses are the main options! They are very differents! Some can be used to the back or the side.

@MarthaSo

For the bottles, I cannot give a personal testimony, as my daughter have only the breast.
But you have right, a bottle is just a bottle.

But If, you have always for former bottles, and they are in glass, you can used them. Glass is better than plastic for durability, and for safety. I have always thoses i have used as a baby myself, 30 years ago, even if I have no utility.

And just changed the nipple.
There are a lot of progress that have been made in nipples since your older children. But a lot of is marketing! A baby can use every nipple he accepts, and the old model are not the worst. What is important is mainely that the carer do not deliver the milk too fast.

I’m honestly surprised that you’re not familiar with them.

My oldest son is 17. He has cousins a few years older that had them. They were very popular.

Hi, not certain what you’re referring to but I really don’t remember those kinds of slings, I remember seeing similar in different countries years ago. If you are referring to the stationary “walker” I’ve had those and none of my children liked them, they preferred to be mobile.

I mean the exersaucer. They were very popular back then.

As for the carrier, I used to have a Baby Bjorn. Is that the type you recall?

I had the original. If you scroll down, it’s near the end.

Yes! That’s exactly the kind I remember. I recall not being able to afford that particular brand but there were many similar styles. When the time comes, I’ll do further research, I’m open to new ideas even though the bjorn looks like the kind of comfort and sturdy I would look for. Thank you for sharing

I had the original until very recently. It lasted for all the kids.

I maybe gave it away a year or so ago.

I used a Moby myself. I had received two different ones as gifts-- one had more stretch, and one was less stretchy, so I liked them at different ages, and you would tie them in different ways as the baby grew. But the Moby was awesome, because I distinctly remember with my first, he started getting cranky and needy at 4:00… which was when I started working on dinner! And so the Moby was terrific, because he’d be able to be close to Mommy, and Mommy would still have her hands free. 🙂

However, for any baby carrier, look at how the baby’s legs are. If the baby’s legs fall straight down, like this:

that’s a bad thing, because it means all the baby’s weight is being supported by his pelvis.

You want the baby’s legs to be in an L-shape, like:

or

or

Which has a far more supportive weight distribution.

There were a few popular carriers with very poor ergonomics about 10-20 years ago. Models have improved a lot since then-- but it’s still something to be mindful of when making the investment in the sling/wrap/carrier that makes you happy.

Excellent thank you so very much, this is extremely useful.
You all are so wonderful!!

It may sound crazy since I’m a grown woman but online support (as this one) is probably easier for me to manage both socially and time wise than an in person group. Maybe because I have never had a “group” of friends before, I’ve always had one or two and my older sister and very content with that. If I were put in a room full of 5 week pregnant women my age maybe that would be different
I would still encourage you to seek out the mom’s group at your parish. Not istead of online but in addition to. They may have an online component too. My moms group has a very active facebook group that fills in the gaps if we haven’t seen eachother in a while.

Also, they are likely to do something for you like set up a meal train for after the baby is born. Random playdates, moms night out, friends who say a rosary with you while your kids run wild are pretty great too.

I feel you on the never really having had a friend group. That was me until last year. I wasn’t unhappy, but I didn’t know what I was missing. My life and faith have been so blessed by my new friends.

Thank you so much, I think I will look into it after all. I have no idea why that makes me nervous but I’m experienced enough in doing things that I’m not comfortable with with at first not to let that stop me.

It might be awkward or it might be well engineered with small groups or something. Don’t let one weird experience put you off if it is awkward. The first meeting I went to was one where you were supposed to bring your kids, but I didn’t know that. It was a feast of St. Nicholas party. I was sitting there without any kids in a room full of people I didn’t know, glueing cotton balls to a Santa beard and trying not to run away. 😆

Also thank you for the parish idea i had no idea even where to begin!
