I'm getting tired of hearing from Protestants that we worship Mary and the saints!

I have read the answers provided by Guanophore for sometime. Despite your giddy and evasive responses and irritating behaviour she has nevertheless displayed extreme patience and has responded painstakingly to all your repeated questions. I am amazed at her patience - she deserves an award!

I have no doubt Jesus will reward her.

Thats not it at all. I never said such a thing that’s why we don’t see it.
One example, though, is that you keep saying that the deuterocanonicals were not included in the canon until Trent, when it has been shown to you that this is not the case.
You need to read the history of the DC’s. This will help clear up your confusion. 👍

JA4,
Excellent news source:rolleyes: Almost up to the standards of the National Enquirer.😃 Yup, If you read it in Yahoo News it must be true! :dancing: One question is that where you also get your bible knowledge? :extrahappy: Mary loves you! d so do us followers of Gods real church :highprayer: !!

It is my understanding that the Catholic canon of Scripture was not formally defined by an extraordinary infallible act until Trent, precisely because that’s when people were starting to challenge some of the books in a widespread fashion.

But the Church didn’t just pull the deuterocanon out of nowhere and suddenly add it in. The Old Testament was 44 books long according to the common understanding of the Church for centuries before that. Heck, the early Protestants included the DCs as a non-inspired supplement in their Bible translations for quite awhile, which they certainly wouldn’t have done if the Catholics had just suddenly introduced those books to fight Protestant errors.

If you’re going to say that the deuterocanonicals were not officially included in the canon until Trent, you’d have to say the same about all the other books, from Genesis to Revelation. It wasn’t that seven extra books were added to the already-accepted canon at Trent; it was that the entire 72-book canon was set in stone at Trent in response to Protestant objections.

I get my knowledge of the Scriptures by constant reading and listening to good teachers. This time in which we all live in today is the greatest opportunity to know the Scriptures ever. Sadly this is not the case in both churches. There was a survey that came out today that shows how many catholics-protestants read the Scriptures and know it. It is absolutely pathetic what those who claim Christ know of the Word. My exhortation to Catholic or Protestant is to make it a daily focus of your lives everyday.

Manny, they know we don’t ‘worship’ Mary, but that’s how they think they can get to you by saying that. That’s all they have. I thank God my seed is planted in the Catholic church , the church Jesus founded. Everyone else is just an off-shoot…remember that. 😉
That my friend is not true! What a unkind thing to say about non Catholics.

Faith is based in an act of the will, and not on emotions. I am sure she went through quite a bit of emotional havoc, her community believing she had fornicated with Joseph (or someone), fleeing into Egypt, giving birth in a stable, and many other experiences. Having feelings does not mean a person lacks faith. Faith involves doing what one believes is right, even when one feels differently.

**Several good points guan. 👍 But what makes you think JA4 will understand the concept of Faith? Why there is even his buddy named “TruthFaith & I think Lies” If my memory serves me right, that has Faith in his name and doesn’t understand the concept.Remember that you have to talk down at a level they can understand if you expect to treach them anything. Do not insult them by talking about complicated things like faith! OK? :tsktsk: **

No, because you post information that is incorrect, and about which you have been given repeated corrections, yet you deliberately persist in pandering untruths. This is different than having an alternative perspectives.

**Now I really do have to defend JA4. I have read many things he posted. He nomally **doesn’t post that are incorrect.
Hey, don’t get mad. Go check what he writes.
He actually doesn’t. He asks questions with incorrect information sure, but he rarely makes “false statements” . There has been some, but not many!
It is like if I asked: “Why Is it Protestant don’t worship Jesus as He demanded that He should be worshipped in the Bible?” " By eating His Body and Drinking His Blood?" Now, Protestants could rightly tell me that was incorrect! Because we all know Jesus didn’t “demand it”. He instructed us to do it, He explained that we couldn’t go to heaven if we didn’t do it. But he never actually demaned it! So they would be right.
Hmmm, I was just thinking, since they don’t have the "real"church to give them the true Euchurist to eat, they can’t follow Jesus’ instructions. Poor Protestants. They must just “overlook” Jesus’ instructions. But that is OK, it isn’t like Jesus said they “had to” eat His Body and drink His Blood in order to be saved. Hmmm, or did He? :hmmm:

The book was not published or used outside of a small regional area. In that area, perhaps, it had an influence in that day and time. As you have read from many Catholic posters here, most of us have never heard of it, or read it.

**Never heard of it here! **

You want us to start republishing your lies? No thanks! One example, though, is that you keep saying that the deuterocanonicals were not included in the canon until Trent, when it has been shown to you that this is not the case.

Sorry guan, JA4 is correct! Yea, I know. I hate agreeing with him also!😃 While many Catholics communities accepted the Apocrypha / Deuterocanonicals previously, the RCC only officially added the Deuterocanonicals to our Bible at the Council of Trent in the mid 1500’s A.D.The Protestants had already “borrowed” our Bible by that time to make their various bibles. Since the Deuterocanonical books teach many things that aren’t contained in the incomplete bible, Protestants do not feel they are true or historically accurate. They have problems with praying for the dead, petitioning “saints” in Heaven for their prayers, worshipping angels, and “alms giving” not to mention atoning for sins.
Just think guan, If they had waited until after the Council of Trent they would have the “Full” correct bible that they could have changed.:bounce: Just tell JA4 you misspoke, he will understand ~ he does it all the time!

JA4 isnt a bad person. :tiphat: He even asks an intelligent question every once in a while.😉 I saw one about three or was it four weeks ago?

God Bless, keep up the good fight! ****

I have just been talking to one of my sons who is a captain on a yacht in the Mediterranean and it was so nice to see him on the web cam and we talked about all kinds of things and there was no protesting.

It is also enjoyable to talk with like minded people. And when one debates it is rewarding to arrive at a conclusion. Here on this thread with Protestants like you you chase your tail all the time. Look, don’t get me wrong I like Protestants, they keep us on our toes but there is a limit. I like to see progress.

Anyway its past my bedtime.

Hi Leeann,:tiphat:
Now you want me to decide which Order of My Mother’s to obey, on my own, over the other?
No! Never on your own….but with the guidance and understanding which springs from the very personal, inherent relationship that you have with your mother.
RobGentner:
:hmmm: Kind of like how Protestants decide what God wants them to do without authoritative Church directives?😉
Kind of like how “all children of God” – no matter what denomination, should decide what His will is for them…by the indwelling of His Spirit of Truth.
RobGentner:
I, as others, would not have the wisdom to do that.
Neither would I…and that’s why we should never rely on our own understanding….or anyone else’s…simply because we are “told”, by them, that they have it all figured out.
RobGentner:
The baby-sitter is more mature in the ways of my Mother.
But the baby-sitter can never usurp that personal, inherent relationship you have with your mother and never should attempt to do so, by attempting to present her own authority - in lieu - of the mother’s.
RobGentner:
Plus my Mother entrusting me to the care of the baby-sitter gave her “authority”’ over me and my actions.:sad_yes: The baby-sitter isn’t an “authority figure” a figurehead if you will. She is the authority that was left here for me. She was left to provide for my care, instruct, plus guide and correct me.
And she was left to abide by your mother’s original mandate…not her own.
RobGentner:
Since she was given complete “Authority”. I must obey her in order to obey my Mother!
No mother would give a baby-sitter “complete authority” – the mother’s authority is complete – any authority that she gives to a baby-sitter is to be exercised with the mother’s original mandate being the first and only priority.
RobGentner:
Kind of how God wants Christians to Obey The Roman Catholic Church since He left it here to Guide us!:bounce:
Kind of how the babysitter would like the children to understand it to be….but that in itself, does not make it true.
U]RobGentner:
Great debate! That was a nice try on your behalf.👍 But the analogue just isn’t a very good one to begin with.
Well I thought it was a pretty good one to begin with….until you started messing with it.
RobGentner:
Lets agree to disagree and let this one lay! OK?
Gotcha ya!👍

Churchcamefirst wasn’t being unkind, he was being truthful. The Protestant churches ARE offshoots of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church was the only church for the first 1500 years of Christianity (not counting the Orthodox who broke away in 1054, but who retained apostolic succession and similar doctrine) until Martin Luther’s revolt of 1517. All of the various Protestant sects have only come into existence since that time.

Deb, please… 🙂 In all sincerity: If the shoe does not fit, do not put it on…OK?

The statement made by many non-Catholics of Protestant denominations is that "Catholics do in fact worship Mary, statues, angels, icons, pictures, candles…and if I look hard enough I can probably find someone to swear that we worship “Edsels”.

While you may not be one of those who makes the statement, please do not take umbrage to what does not apply to you.🙂

Because you are “Funny” and actually do have a sense of humor.I will tell you a “Catholic” joke:

A cabbie picks up a Nun. She gets into the cab, and notices that the VERY handsome cab driver won’t stop staring at her. She asks him why he is staring. He replies: ‘I have a question to ask you but I don’t want to offend you.’
She answers, ‘My son, you cannot offend me. When you’re as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I’m sure that there’s nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive.’
‘Well, I’ve always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me.’ She responds, ‘Well, let’s see what we can do about that:
#1, you have to be single and #2, you must be Catholic.’

The cab driver is very excited and says, ‘Yes, I’m single and Catholic!’ ‘OK’ the nun says. ‘Pull into the next alley.’ He does, and the nun fulfils his fantasy, with a kiss that would make a hooker blush. Later, when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying.

‘My dear child,’ says the nun, ‘why are you crying?’

‘Forgive me sister, but I’ve sinned. I lied and I must confess, I’m married and I’m Jewish.’

The nun says, 'Oh, that’s OK…

My name is JOHN and I’m going to a Halloween party !

Great post. Your right. We all need a bit more sense of humor. I know a lot of passionate catholics who i have intensely debated and we are still good friends. I just wish i could somehow “speak out” in the real world these smiles. So many words could be saved.

No! Never on your own….but with the guidance and understanding which springs from the very personal, inherent relationship that you have with your mother.
** Since God never “talk” to me execpt through His Church, that is How I get to know His real desires! But I do understand because My church is the original church, not just an imitation one 👍 **

Kind of like how “all children of God” – no matter what denomination, should decide what His will is for them…by the indwelling of His Spirit of Truth.

**If you follow what you think God wants aren’t you following yourself? There is a commandment against false gods isn’t there? “If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don’t like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself.” Saint Augustine **

Neither would I…and that’s why we should never rely on our own understanding….or anyone else’s…simply because we are “told”, by them, that they have it all figured out.
**Yes! You finally **Understand! :clapping: Great! Yes, we should only listen to Jesus. After all thsat is why He left us “His” church to guide us. Why try to follow false leaders when we have the RCC?

But the baby-sitter can never usurp that personal, inherent relationship you have with your mother and never should attempt to do so, by attempting to present her own authority - in lieu - of the mother’s.** But you are assuming that the babysitter isn’t talking to the mother. nor, the Mother to the babysitter! I have never thought of that before. We always knew the Holy Spirit was guiding our church. The other church’s don’t have divine guidance do they? :crying: I guess if you are blind to the truth, you must also be deaf to it also! **

And she was left to abide by your mother’s original mandate…not her own.
** HAHAHAHAHA! Sorry, it is just that sometimes I think you are serious! :extrahappy: **

No mother would give a baby-sitter “complete authority” – the mother’s authority is complete – any authority that she gives to a baby-sitter is to be exercised with the mother’s original mandate being the first and only priority.
**But that isn’t what Jesus said is it?. It is only what you wish he had said! "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.Matthew 16:19 So Peter was given the authority to establish doctrine in matters of faith and morals for the entire Church. Every true believer has the ability to understand the mysteries of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection as they relate to salvation. However only Peter and his successors were given the right to formulate doctrine on how to get there. “That” is what Jesus said! **

Kind of how the babysitter would like the children to understand it to be….but that in itself, does not make it true.

**OK Deb, Take a deep breath… Hold it… Ok Let it out! Again! Feeling better now? You were so angry you couldn’t even type. The post was hard to read.

I sure can understand.Being fooled for years, thinking you were in Jesus’ real church and then to realize that He only established “one” church and it can be proved that it is the RCC and that all other churches are only “imitations” must be a shock!:bigyikes:
If you look into the bible that your church “borrowed” from the real chuch Jesus says: "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.Matthew 16:19

Yea, Jesus gave Peter and his successors the authority to establish doctrine in matters of faith and morals for the entire Church.

Do you know what year your chuch started? Did they break away from the RCC or from another protestant church? There are estimated to be 60,000 “christian” denominations right now!.

You seem like an intelligent person.👍 A couple of questions: Do you think Jesus really wanted 60,000 different denominations? Or perhaps, and I say this with all Christian love and ernestness, could it have been the Devil that divided the real church in order to steal souls?
Do you think Jesus will look kindly on “followers” (Used loosley to make a point) who "insult, disrespect and dishonor His mother? Would you?

There can only be one “Body” of Christ. Jesus’ is the Head. He established the Roman Catholic Church is His “visible” body here on Earth. I guess that being true. It would have to make the other 59,999 denominations, eeerrrr,:hmmm: cancerous growths?;

By reading the bible, every true believer has the ability to understand the mysteries of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection as they relate to salvation. However only Peter and his successors were given the right to formulate doctrine on how to get to heaven. “That” is what Jesus said Deb!

If it makes you angry do some about it. Come to the “Real” faith:highprayer:
We really aren’t mean. Why some of us even have sense of humors (Don’t count PeterJ OK?)

God Bless. Remember Jesus Loves all of Us! He really does!!

Let me tell you A Love Story. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. JOHN 3:16

God Bless you Deb
