It is our version of the Apollo-Soyuz Test project, the handshake in space, where rivals can put aside their differences, even if only for a moment, and come together in good natured peace.

To say nothing of being deadly to computer keyboards and cell phones…which would lead to being unable to continue posting in this thread!
 
my kids were responsible for two keyboards.

The first was a Mac keyboard that she managed to spill apple juice into. I only lost the left command key, iirc, and it wasn’t used much back then.

And then there’s BoKD, the Baby of Keyboard Death. This time, I was working on my laptop, had a mug of beer in one hand, and my wife suddenly placed her in my arm. She kicked, hitting the beer, dousing the keyboard.

I immediately pulled the battery, and then hung the keyboard in the sink full of water by the two sides. My wife thought I was nuts, but only lost one unused key (prtscrn, or something like that)
 
I have a silly fear of keyboard death…so, I have about five extra keyboards laying around…including two Apple Bluetooth ones. I didn’t start that way, I just have a nasty habit of eating and drinking while computing! So, I earned my fear!

I also have about six mice (mouses?) but that’s because I have a Razor one that I love and so the ones that come with computers just get chucked into a box. Thinking about it, I still have an old IBM keyboard that needs a serial port…lot of good it’ll do me these days! Boy, it was a sweet keyboard though…lots of clickity to it.

I still have a Model M, a couple of ADB (and a massive ADB trackball), and even the original Mac keyboard and mouse (and the original Mac to go with them, of course . . .).

I’d like a buckling spring (as in Model M) wireless BLE, but it isn’t made . . .
 
I’ve not updated my 2013 MacBook because the newer “butterfly” keyboards were crap. I’m usually a pretty fast typist but I learned on old typewriters so I don’t have that light touch down very much. I am pleased they did away (but never admitted failure) with the butterfly mechanism on the newest MacBooks. I hear they are much better but not perfect. (What would perfect be on a keyboard?)

At least my trusty 2013 MacBook is still running great and updateable. My iMac isn’t and new ones are coming…!

I don’t like the 2015 keyboard, but my 2013 lost the ability to charge the battery.

I have a daughterboard ($70! 😱) that may restore it so that it can be a bench machine, but need to get around to it. Such little wires, not like when I used to fix my MacPortable and PowerBooks . . .
