I read the Bible, I go to Mass, I read Lives of the Saints, I say decades of the Rosary now and then, I often smile at my neighbour, I always smile at my dog. I often work hard, I pray up to 10 minutes a day, I never blaspheme, I feel sadness for others who are spiritually poor, I only look down on others when it is impossible to do otherwise, I go to Confession even I don’t have much to confess.
Yeah, I think I’m rating way above average at the moment.
And you forgot to add how HUMBLE you are.

I did not move your thread Good Catholic. Perhaps others like a more serious tone in Spirituality as well.

God Bless you.🌸

The thread is back, where it naturally belongs – that is, “Spirituality” 😉

The meaning of being “above average” can vary depending on what sources you are pulling your data points from to calculate your average.

A lone man standing in a cemetery could reasonably claim with confidence that he “is the liveliest person around these parts.” 😉

You posted this in the spirituality forum rather than casual discussion or something - strike one.

You gave no indication at all in the OP that you were being sarcastic - hence, why many people were taken aback and took you seriously - strike two.

I was one of those who misinterpreted the OP at first before reading further comments - strike three.

@goodcatholic, I’m sorry and I hate to do this, but you’ve forced my hand. I excommunicate you from CAF for 90 days.

This reminds me of the old Chris Rock joke about people bragging about what they’re supposed to do.

Finally someone who understood, it was necessary to read more than 40 messages to find one …

It’s a word game right? Like “being spiritual” also means in society having a solid sense of humor and this is why you posted this in spirituality. 😄

This post/thread deserves a 10/10. I laughed a lot, and it is brilliant satire. Thanks for a little lift today, goodcatholic.

I think we at CAF benefit from the occasional topic that is outside of the norm – above average, below average, or just way out there. I have come to think of @goodcatholic as a sort of prophet who comes, as it were, from the wilds of Kiwiland, to expose truths that lay hidden in plain sight. His thought-provoking ideas are often spiced with incongruity, seen by some as sarcasm, but I would call it irony.

Some of his ideas float better than others. That is the nature of invention. Thomas Edison came up with thousands of ideas that flopped, but we don’t hold that against him.

💡
😃

Keep those good ideas coming!

I’m glad I could create such speculation, such a thesis statement on my “humble” post. 🙂

Well in another form I guess. Seems like I run the risk of offending some people, any time I do this. You cant please everyone and I’m too old to try anymore. 🙂

Who said irony is non-spiritual or counter-christian? Not Paul, however.

Already you are filled! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you! For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to men. We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute.
– 1 Corinthians 4:8-10

All of that and yet nothing to show in the humility department.
