CCC [818](javascript:openWindow(‘cr/818.htm’)😉 "However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers . . . . All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church."272
CCC 817 “WOUNDS TO UNITY” you left out that part…why is that? do I have to place the whole catechism on here? protestants are not in full communion with the Catholic church…that is a fact.

really? so does that mean next sunday all the protestants…even the LDS will come marching over to my parish and profess their loyalty to Pope Benedict? you are off subject, what a bizarre statement ““christians” are all part of the catholic church” you refer to baptist, calvinist, LDS, pentecostals? you should call them and let them know about this:)
Not LDS. Do they use the Triune formula? I’m not sure.

But anyway…I called and your all invited over to my house after Mass for a barbeque! I’ll supply the steak…lobster…soft drinks and beer! 🙂

You are absolutely correct. But we were refering to salvation. They are included…and that’s what the CCC says.

I’ll be there. Like beer yum

Sorry I cannot give you the source of the teaching I posted, I read much and I save a lot of what I read, I must be more careful, I know, about neglecting to note my source when I save. I do read a lot of the ex-Protestants turned Catholic Apologists here at C,A, and another favorite is Dr.Scott Hahnn. All commentary I read concerns Catholic doctrine only, and what I posted this morning could have been from the pen of an ex protestant and
now Catholic Apologist.
Are you telling us that you are a Christian who chooses not to claim actual membership in any particular Church, :hmmm::hmmm::hmmm:never before known one such . Thanks for visiting and sharing with us God Bless, and peace to you, Carlan
.
By faith, I believe I am part of the invisible church which is made up of all sinners united to Christ from all the visible churches here on earth. Why should I limit my learning and fellowship to one part of the universal body of Christ? I do attend a single corporate church and don’t believe in church hopping.

I was reading something that said “There is no salvation outside the Church,” meaning the Catholic Church. But I always thought that Catholics considered Protestants and Orthodox to be Christian too.

A:
The affirmation “outside the Church there is no salvation” is explained in the Catechism of the Catholic Church as follows:
How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers? Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body: Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his Body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.

This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church: Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience—those too may achieve eternal salvation.

Although in ways known to himself God can lead those who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the Gospel, to that faith without which it is impossible to please him, the Church still has the obligation and also the sacred right to evangelize all men. (CCC 846-848)Specifically concerning non-Catholic Christians, the Catechism notes:
The Church knows that she is joined in many ways to the baptized who are honored by the name of Christian, but do not profess the Catholic faith in its entirety or have not preserved unity or communion under the successor of Peter. Those who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in a certain, although imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church. With the Orthodox churches, this communion is so profound that it lacks little to attain the fullness that would permit a common celebration of the Lord’s Eucharist. (CCC 838)
Orthodox are much closer to being in full communion much more so than protestants, in fact they maybe in full communion, I do not have all day to reference:)

Isn’t it more important to be in full communion with God himself?

You’re another one of those that believes what you choose to believe in the CCC and discard that which you don’t like.

BTW…How many flies have you caught with vinegar as opposed to honey? 🙂
I belive what I read in the catechism…all of it do you understand? see CCC 817…chrystal clear to me…see ya.

Hi, Friend,
Thanks for quoting the Catholic Catechism. I believe your interpretation and application is incorrect of what you quoted. Have you received me as your brother in Christ? I have been baptised by a Pastor in a visible corporate church with the Triune formula.
Jesus founded One Church. Therefore, we only find salvation through that One Church. It’s quite simple really. I’m not being arrogant…when a good Christian who is not Catholic dies, it is by Jesus’ One founded Church that they find their way to Heaven.👍

CCC #846 right there in black in white official Catholic teaching, its not my interpretation, it is the teaching ofthe Catholic church…if you dispute that…well then I guess your not rationale.

how about you invite them to mass? how many you think will show?

I believe salvation is through the God-Man, Christ Jesus and not the Catholic Church exclusively. Consider this verse to understand my point of view:

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, - 1 Tim

So, the one mediator between God and men is not contained within the walls of the Catholic Church.

What is with not proudly revealing this secret single corporate Church? You do not sound exactly all that shy and humble to me is it against the rules or something?.:confused:Peace Carlan

LOL… because my identity goes way beyond the walls of the corporate church that I attend. Heck, I’m trying to convince my Pastor that we should be more Catholic in regards to tradition, chuch history, creeds and confession, and the sacraments. What would you have me do, abandon that corporate church and join the Catholic corporate Church?

Since your salvation is secure, would you agree that you can sin boldly and not be deprived of God’s grace?
