It would depend on what he said. If he said “Trump told me X” that would not be actionable unless it was an intentional lie uttered with malice. If he said “Trump told me Ukraine’s biggest military vulnerability is Y” then yes, I could see him getting into trouble with that. In any event, whether sworn or just said on tv, it’s the same.

Trump could solve all of this by releasing Bolton to testify, couldn’t he? Why doesn’t Trump just do it?

All this conjecture about Bolton and what he knew, might reveal, or whether or not he may be telling the truth, is a waste of paper. After Professor Derschowitz’s presentation yesterday, I don’t foresee that the Senate will approve further witnesses. Their case is strong enough - they don’t have to delve any further into this sidestep. Bolton’s revelation does not amount to an impeachable offense, whether or not he is telling the truth.

Talk about perfect timing … Bolton’s announcement came too late, for Derschowitz had already laid the groundwork in the Senate, stating the parameters for impeachable matters, and Bolton’s bullet misses the mark completely.

Bolton was named by other witnesses as being in more direct contact with Trump and can explain if Trump was extorting the Ukrainian government. So, it makes sense that Trump would want Bolton to testify UNLESS he was extorting the Ukrainian government.

He met today with Israel’s leader and announced a wonderful deal that is beyond anything I might have imagined for their country. The applause on every other sentence was thunderous, and in one instance, received a standing ovation with unending applause. What a wonderful foreign policy and negotiation he set in motion. Think again before you publicize your interpretation of his supporters.

Not at all. What you’re saying is that other “witnesses” said “well, Bolton might know something”. And trump has more reason than that to oppose his testifying. I think the Dems know Bolton has nothing really relevant to say, but has plenty of criticism of Trump in other ways. Trump doesn’t want to stretch this out for the sake of testimony that doesn’t even seem to be there.

It doesn’t prove anything. Trump had every legal authority to call for things to be looked into. Ukraine can’t investigate Joe Biden. This was always about corruption. Trump also has every legal right to delay aid, it happens all the time. He also has a right to say he’s going to Article 3 on certain subpoenas (SC has ruled on this), also legal right. None of the two articles the Dems have charged against Trump even if all their claims were true aren’t of any constitutional impeachment weight. The Dems have a terrible non-case that would never even be able to be prosecuted in any legal court in the US. It’s a farce.
