Because they will have the same mores and values. It comes up often even if you don’t discuss religion openly.
Plus. having others pray for you is good. We also are called to pray for our acquaintances as an act of love and mercy.

Speaking from experience, I sometimes used to latch onto certain ideals and practices I now see as contrary to Catholic values and detrimental to a life in Christ because I tended to only ever be around non-Catholics. Having friends who share your faith allows you to keep your actions in check as well as those of your friends. It’s also more rewarding to grow in faith alongside others, I find.

Being a Catholic in the world is like navigating through a minefield. It’s nice to have people with whom you can be yourself and 100% uncensored.

Without my Catholic friends, I would have lost my sanity a long time ago.

In part, it helps to have friends who share your values and your worldview. Whether we’re talking about politics or the latest blockbuster movie, there’s a sense that we’re coming from the same place.

It’s helpful to have friends who have the same background you do and understand things without explanation. If I start by saying something like “I was lighting a candle after Mass and…” I don’t have to explain why I was at Mass or what the point of lighting a candle is.

I like being able to share something vitally important to me with other people who understand and appreciate its importance.

If things are going badly I like that one of the first things I’ll hear is “I’ll pray for you.”

For sure ,sometimes when there’s a crisis here I can message family and friends for support …and most of all prayer, and offer up for them.I come from a large family ,so many of my friends are my family.
It’s kind of sad with non faith friends that I can’t share that side of my self with very much,so they don’t really get the full picture of who I am.Its natural to want to share what really makes you happy.

The Catholic Friends I keep are priests only. People I have met at Church are having issues with my ways, but I have done much research into my ways and they are good.

I like having Catholic friends so I can speak easily…it’s such a relief to just say ’ oh offer it up’ or ‘I was saying my rosary when…’ ’ Father Michael said…’ etc. and not have to edit what you say or how you say it. Not that I always do but some people are tough to be around and I could do with a rest. But I do have a chronic illness so my energy is very precious to me, so that could be it. I do have other Christian and non Christian friends too. My family are either lapsed or lukewarm Catholics and one really offended-by-Catholics person so they take the most energy. So for me, my parish family are my rest.

It’s good to have Catholic friends so you can talk about Catholic stuff without having to explain every time you mention “praying to Mary” or a Saint and so you can have a shared experience with them. A lot of my friends growing up were Catholic and shared the Catholic school experience. We could joke about stuff that public school kids didn’t get.

It’s also good to have non-Catholic friends and friends from many different backgrounds and religions or no religion. It broadens your perspective and worldview and gives you a greater understanding.

I myself never noticed any change in my morality from hanging around non-Catholics as opposed to Catholics. Many of the non-Catholics I met were more moral and responsible than many of the Catholics I met.

That’s a good point, even when having Cahtolic friends, you still have to be selective.

Must be nice. I haven’t had a Catholic friend since I was a little kid and played with other kids who’s parents were friends of my mom.

Well, some of my best Catholic friends I have met on CAF. ☺️

I think it’s mostly enough to have good friends who support and encourage your faith. That said it would be nice to have some Catholic friends.

Hi Because he can share his Faith with you and you with him ,both will be safe, spiritually, if he is a good Catholic, you can warn each other of dangers,of sinful situations, inclinations and pitfalls. Two is better than one.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be mismatched with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship is there between light and darkness?

1 Corinthians 6:12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.

1 Corinthians 10:23 23 “All things are lawful,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.

Sirach 6:14-17 Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter:whoever finds one has found a treasure.
15 Faithful friends are beyond price;no amount can balance their worth.16 Faithful friends are life-saving medicine;and those who fear the Lord will find them.17 Those who fear the Lord direct their friendship aright, for as they are, so are their neighbors also.
