Well okay, but they were lying too?“Unnamed Jewish scribe(s)”
Then how come this thread has extended by several pages of your responces since our conversation, huh?Meh, there isn’t much to talk about
No more than they were lying when they predicated a militaristic messiah, or talked about the pillars of the EarthWell okay, but they were lying too?
Cause we’ve been talking about evolution, not scriptural authorshipThen how come this thread has extended by several pages of your responces since our conversation, huh?
What!? What else do you deny in the scriptures? Next will you deny Christ? No more than they were lying when they predicated a militaristic messiah, or talked about the pillars of the Earth
Crikey, I’m glad this thread did derail. No catholic should be left in your state!Cause we’ve been talking about evolution, not scriptural authorship
Do you deny that the Earth has pillars which could be shaken? That there is a dome filled with water above the Earth? What!? What else do you deny in the scriptures? Next will you deny Christ?
Non-literalism?Crikey, I’m glad this thread did derail. No catholic should be left in your state!

But that part of the bible that you quoted is classified as divine scripture isn’t it? So the bible in your view is built upon primitive beliefs by primitive men?Do you deny that the Earth has pillars which could be shaken? That there is a dome filled with water above the Earth?

The parts I mentioned are in the bible as well- (pillars of the earth/dome of water)But that part of the bible that you quoted is classified as divine scripture isn’t it? So the bible in your view is built upon primitive beliefs by primitive men?
You didn’t answer the question! Is the bible written by primitive men based on primitive beliefs that were completely uninspired? The parts I mentioned are in the bible as well- (pillars of the earth/dome of water)
But we should return to the topic at hand.
Oh dear… No- however, certain passages meant to give a certain meaning (e.g. God created all there is and set men above the rest) do not hold scientific value. You didn’t answer the question! Is the bible written by primitive men based on primitive beliefs that were completely uninspired?
I HAVE TO LEAVE NOW AS IT IS 5:55AM! But tell me, do you believe 100% of what the Catholic Church teaches? Post quickly so I can read it before I go to sleep now!Oh dear… No- however, certain passages meant to give a certain meaning (e.g. God created all there is and set men above the rest) do not hold scientific value.
I can truthfully pray the Creed every Sunday- outside of that, I do have issues with the Church.I HAVE TO LEAVE NOW AS IT IS 5:55AM! But tell me, do you believe 100% of what the Catholic Church teaches? Post quickly so I can read it before I go to sleep now!
Please tell me your issues with the church, either by PM or posting here or by putting a message on my public wall. I want and need to know!I can truthfully pray the Creed every Sunday- outside of that, I do have issues with the Church.
No, I was reporting him correctly. I referred you to his 2004 paper and I also referred you to his testimony at the Dover trial. Both are available on the internet and both show that Professor Behe accepts that IC systems can evolve. Your failure to go and look at the sources I pointed you to has led you into error. By now you should have learned that you need to check things before posting. We conclude that, in general, to be fixed in 10[sup]8[/sup] generations, the production of novel protein features that require the participation of two or more amino acid residues simply by multiple point mutations in duplicated genes would entail population sizes of no less than 10[sup]9[/sup].You seem to be taking his research out of context to backup your beliefs.
Lenski’s experiments on E. coli are about the real world with real observations. A strain that could not digest citrate 20 years ago can now digest citrate using an Irreducibly Complex system of enzymes to do so.There is nothing real about a computer program that says Darwinian evolution can occur. Science is about the real world with real observations using the scientific method.
You lose. The point of ID is to look sciency enough to get taught in science classes in American public schools. As soon as you talk about “soul” you are straight out of science class and into theology class. Get with the program and ixnay the oulsay. My designer gave you mind body and soul.
Congratulations. My mother says that the first eighteen years were the worst, but what does she know?@all: this will be my last post as I have a lovely pregnant wife and a job to attend to.
Been there, done that, got the scars. She already warned me of spending too much time “hacking away” so I must comply
What were the authors trying to convey? No more than they were lying when they predicated a militaristic messiah, or talked about the pillars of the Earth
Exactly my point- certain biblical passages attempt to convey ideas rather than empirical truths- I would no more believe all that exists was created in 6 days than I would that the Earth stands on pillars, or that mountains skip like rams when a new king of Israel arises (if that was the context of the passage, I don’t exactly recall). What were the authors trying to convey?
Science cannot create life in the lab. Fact.Scale, complexity, and self assembly do not imply design
Science can not create stars in a lab. Fact.Science cannot create life in the lab. Fact.
Living things just design themselves? False.
Peace,
Ed
Science can create some of the building blocks of life in the lab. Fact.Science cannot create life in the lab. Fact.
Absolutely it is. Your a priori science worldview is sadly deficient. When will you see that materialistic science has painted you into a corner?S
Creationism is a better explanation than science? False.
