You misundersood what I meant by that. Our church leaders are here to guide us. However, if they say anything that is against what God says, whether in the BIBLE or through His direct line of communication with you, their word becomes void.This is probably the same as throwing gasoline on a fire, but the whole “Our pope is Jesus” argument opens the door for all sorts of craziness. Yes, Jesus is the greatest, end all, be all authority. No argument. But if we can reject the Pope’s authority, because “Jesus is the pope,” then why even have a pastor at your church? Jesus is the leader of the local church, not the pastor! Who needs him!
Let’s take it a step further: Why even pray if Jesus knows what our thoughts are and what we’ll do in life? Hey, if we keep going with this, why even go to church? Jesus knows our hearts, we don’t need church!
Extreme? Yes. But I think if you disregard one thing, The Pope’s authority, you leave the door open for disregarding so many more things.
