Maybe I can do these things after my husband retires. That’s so neat, 1ke!
Well, there are always trade-offs.

I didn’t meet my wonderful DH until I was in my late 30s, so I traveled all through my 20s and 30s while many others were having families.

I keep my spices in alphabetical order

I have a special stash of candy that no one else knows about

If a puzzle is started, I have to finish it before I can put it away, even if it’s one of the kids puzzles

I love classical music

I have Adenomyosis

There is 30 years between my oldest brother and myself

I know way more about “The Waltons” then anyone should:)

  • I’m shy, yet I’ve been on stage in 3 productions of full length plays.
  • I read Canon Law for fun. (Even took the book to the bathroom with me once.)
  • I’m a horrible housekeeper, yet people refuse to believe me when I say that. At the moment my living room looks as though it has been tossed by cops looking to make a major drug bust.
  • The only thing organized about my life is my spice carousel. People don’t believe that either because I’m treasurer for 2 or 3 organizations – oh, 2 I guess. (there, you see, I had to stop and ponder that one)

They must have been to my house after they got to yours. My 23 year old daughter suddenly moved back home Wednesday night at 9 PM (yes the night before Thanksgiving) and dropped three carloads of boxes in my living room and dining room and took all my clothes out of the closet to make room for hers. sigh…

This is more of an odd fact…lol

I tend to have the longest and most meaningful relationships with blonde women, who are analytical. All friends from college, who I still stay in touch with…are blonde. Friends I made in PA over the years–the good ones are blonde. lol I even married a light haired/blue eyed man.

I don’t know if it’s me…or if it’s them…but, I rarely even develop friendships with brunettes. I’m brunette, so isn’t that odd?

My husband pointed it out one day recently…did you know that all of your really good female friends are blonde? 😛

I cannot believe how many other encyclopedia readers are out there! :o 😃 My parents got me a used 10yo set (A little confusing, what’s the USSR Mom? LOL) when I was 11 or 12 and I would just grab one and read. My siblings all made fun of me. But guess who’s good at crosswords?? HMMM??? :rotfl:

The only other thing I can think is that I was a very wee preemie baby- 1lb 14oz. When my niece was born premature (3.5lbs) and I saw how tiny she was, I couldn’t believe I was HALF that size!

Ditto. We sang that song in 5th grade choir.
Me too, me too! 😃

For me:

*I miss being a talk-show host quite badly. Difficulties while I was pregnant with SweetGirlTwo put me on bedrest, and that was pretty much the end of my show. But I hope to return once SweetGirlTwo is in Kindergarten!

*I’m a distant relative of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

*I was born with a heart defect called ventricular septal defect, or VSD for short. It healed up on its own, so I never needed surgery, bless God.

*I believe with all my heart that I have the vocation to be a cloistered Carmelite nun. Which is obviously hard for me to fulfill, since becoming Catholic didn’t happen until after I was married with one child at the time. Sometimes the desire to be in the cloister is such that it makes my heart at once soar skyward and long painfully for it. Balancing these dual, equally-strong vocations of motherhood and Carmel can be quite difficult some days.

I am one of only two children, but I LOVE huge family gatherings (We had 48 people for Thanksgiving as my wife is the 7th of 7)

I love the works of H.P. Lovecraft (thus the screen name)

I fulfilled my lifelong dream of going to Germany last year.

I sing two songs very well falsetto, I’m the Happiest Girl in the USA and I Will Survive.

and (oh the shame) I enjoy romantic comedies.

I get teary-eyed when I hear the Star Spangled Banner.

I also get this “I’m proud to be an American” feeling when I see the combines all lined up harvesting a field of wheat.

I canceled a wedding one week for the Big Day.

I did a static line skydive after only a few hours of “training”. What was I thinking?

One other thing, I wrote my senior thesis in college comparing the actions of the 101st Airborne to the 4th Armored Division in the Battle of the Bulge (did I mention that I’m a woman who is NOT in the military?). Everyone looked at me with a confused look when I told them this, knowing that I"m not in the military, have no Army relatives (though I do have Navy family) and that this was a topic of MY choice.

I am the worst housekeeper in the world!!

I can recite my credit card numbers from memory.

I am an excellent cartwheeler, I can even do one on a fence! 😃

You can add me to the dictionary and encyclopedia reader’s list.

My daughter says if they gave out awards for goofy parents, I would get first place.😛

When I speak, I often put the first part of a word with the second part of another word on accident:blush: . That can be really embarrassing if comes out sounding like a dirty word.😊

I have agoraphobia, but I love to travel. I might have a zillion panic attacks, but if I can find someone to go somewhere with me, I’ll go.

I love antique jewelry. I like the kind that old ladies wore 50 years ago.😃

Last, but not least, I love to listen to people talk.🙂

I am constantly doing that! I blame my brain. It thinks so much faster than my mouth can talk, so things get mixed up.

I love this thread…I’m learning so many things about you people.😃

An interesting, perhaps odd fact about me…is that I wrote my college sr yr thesis paper on The Effects of Violence in Society Can Stem Back to Mother Goose.😃

Sounds nuts, but I got an A. 😛

Jack fell down and broke his crown, in Jack & Jill…

Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater had major control issues…

and so on…😃

I read the encyclopedia for fun

I went through a hurricane in a tent.

I know when “Carmen Ohio” was written, and under what circumstances.

I know the historical significance of the pirate flag of the Black Pearl in “Pirates of the Caribbean”

I was really shy when it came to girls - I met my wife on the internet. We’ve been married for almost 10 years.

I survived testicular cancer. (Had it during my junior year of college - I was 22).

I have to sit in a chair that rocks, otherwise I constantly tap my foot.

I still love to watch Tom and Jerry on Cartoon Network.😃
