Have you tried a different parish?
Have you watched Bishop Barron’s videos on the Mass?

Does your local parish have any adult enrichment programs?

I’m not sure what you are talking about with your references to creation and how old the earth is. I know many Lutherans who believe in evolution of some sort, and that the earth is more than 6000 years old, so not sure why that is an issue.

As adults, we are only bored if we allow ourselves to be. My suggestion would be to meet with a priest or deacon and talk to them about your struggles.
Yes, I’ve tried other parishes, but I do think the noon Mass might be good…I’ve only been to that one once, on Easter.

As far as evolution and YEC, the LCMS teaches the earth to be 6000 to 10,000 years old, and no evolution. I’m fairly certain that the earth is billions of years old.

One of my favorite sayings:
You’re not bored; you’re boring.
I could be. 🙂
I manage to be boring without being bored. A rare talent.

The Church (Catholic, Lutheran, the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster) is not based on science, it is based on faith.

Just because people want to believe the earth is only 6000-10,000 years old, does not make it true.
And, to be honest, what difference does it make?

I am not sure why you would spend any time at all at CARM. There is much distortion about Catholic beliefs there. If you truly want to learn more about your faith, I suggest staying off internet forums and spending more time in your parish.

Besides Mass and one Bible Study I don’t think I’d be great at attendance (it’s early for me, but doable) there’s not much going on in my parish for people in my age group. (Middle aged). The parents of kids in school have a lot of opportunities to do stuff, as do the elderly. I’m not the only one to complain about that. And no, I don’t want to be the one shouldering most of the work to startup activities.

What abnout the Orthodox?

C.A.R.M., despite the CLEAR teaching of Christ, believes that you no longer need to be baptized.

And who is accusing who of inventing doctrine?

So find another parish.

I know my parish, and may in my area have social groups for middle-age people.

Catechists and helpers are always needed for Faith formation programs, maybe volunteer there.

I know that being the “start up” person can be daunting, but we have to move out of our comfort zones if we ever want to grow.

I am sorry you are struggling so. I do wish you would reach out to someone at your parish, maybe there are things available in your diocese that you don’t know about.

Peace be with you on your journey.

There are no Orthodox churches near here.

Some people on CARM believe in being Baptised.

The people on CARM rely solely on Scripture (Sola Scriptura?) is that why they are YECs and is that why we need Tradition and the Pope to guide us through difficult Scriptures?

What is a YEC?

And how can one be “sola scriptura” if one is not using a complete Bible?

And, were it not for St. Jerome, and the Catholic Church, there would not be a Bible for them to use, now would there?

It is very easy to follow things that are tailored to our liking, and that is how most Protestant Churches started, because some human being thought they knew more than Jesus. He built his Church upon Peter. Period.

Thank you.
Not for nothing, where do these people come from?
Do they not believe in science?
I have fossils that are millions of years old (my hubby is an amateur paleontologist/geologist), the science does not lie.🤷‍♀️🤔

Strictly speaking, it is entirely possible for God to have created the Earth in media res. It sounds like He created Adam and Eve that way, after all.

Why it should matter whether he did or not? I’m still trying to figure that one out.

See, that’s what they argue, though. According to them, Jesus and later, Peter, didn’t start the Church.
Is there any Catholic Answers articles about this I can read?

Thats what I’ve been struggling with at the Lutheran Church. Some people there kept sending me to the website Answers in Genesis for explanations.
