It’s not speculation. If Reagan’s policy worked, then what’s going on with North Korea and Cuba? We don’t have an arms race with them, yet their economies are horrendous. The Economic Calculation Problem is the explanation.

And it’s funny that you call my argument speculation while conveniently ignoring that your argument was even more speculative.
I’m aware of Von Mises. He was correct that socialist economies are INEFFECIENT, but we still have them operating today. True, we don’t have an arms race with NK, but we do have troops stationed there, and those do pose a nuclear threat.

China yes a somewhat mixed economy, but seems to be immune.

I will. You should also read this.

I believe in mutual respect, but I have seen evil, and know it exists.
If we lose freedom here, there’s no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth.
I love that speech, was there a specific part you were referring to?

Peace through strength is lost if our military is spread out across the world. Strength demands respect, if we show others respect and they still attack our nations interests then Ron Paul would do what was necessary to protect those interests. Of that I have no doubt and that’s part of what separates isolationists from non-interventionists.

This is the second video of the last post again:

Ron Paul talks about having to go to war. He says you got to war to win and defend the interests of the country, not for political reasons.

The real Communist countries are of absolutely no threat to the US. North Korea can’t even get a missile across the Pacific, not to mention getting past our missile defense systems.

The interesting thing about China, from what I understand is that they are becoming more and more capitalist. If they continue down this road they will be extremely powerful, but I think even they know their communism has been at least somewhat responsible for keeping them weak.

They are making what, hundreds of billions of dollars from us?

And since 1985 they are just now figuring out aircraft carriers?

We are beholden to their economy. We should be afraid of that. Once China quits lending us credit so that we can buy their products our economy crashes and stays there. Deleveraging will eventually happen.

We are not beholden to anyone but God. And who in the world is afraid of them? I’m afraid of Obama more than Russia and China. I know what they will do.

We don’t “need” to buy China’s products. What do we need from China? And if they quit lending money, so what. Supply and Demand just rolls to the next which in truth should be us.

If someone stopped selling drugs on the corner do you suppose all the junkies will wait till he returns?

So we should just keep borrowing at 42-cents on the dollar? Wonderful philosophy shared by most loan sharks. 👍

Huh? I don’t think you understood what I wrote. We don’t need China’s products. Then again, they make our lives so much better. Our problem is that we don’t produce anything, and once China stops lending us the money to buy their products, our standard of living decreases dramatically. Our trade deficit is a massive problem.

TO BUY THEIR PRODUCTS is your constant cry, which you now said TWICE not once. And I’m saying we don’t not need to buy their products. Your saying that:shrug: The fact we owe them money doesn’t bind us to their insane trade policy. Sorry I DO NOT agree. Its a falacy in fact.

No, our “Fair Trade” policy is the problem. And you continue to keep mentioning “buying Chinas products” and I keep reminding you we do not need China’s products, in fact they are inferior to ours. they “need” our business. Its a cost effective ratio thats attractive to America’s, verse quality. THATs ALL!!!

There is no Fair Trade with China in our Fair Trade policy. And no 42-cents on the dollar is unacceptable and in fact “insane” Especially to promote slave labor.

Let me give you an example. I buy a Fender USA made electric guitar in the USA today and it cost $1000. and thats production line, not Custom Shop. The same product from China “their best product” by Fender is $350. The quality is not as good but to some its cost effective. To me its junk.

In truth all China does in provide a market in a specific price range which Japan and Korea also do. The question really is will Americans work for slave labor to produce that same product in the same price range. And the answer is NO, and rightfully so. However someone else will. Craftsmanship in America and manufacturing in the USA aspire to a higher quality. But you pay for what you get in this world. Simple fact of life. Americans will take a cut and sacrifice to get the country up and running again. Nothing new, just watch how it works when ran correctly. As the wealth increase’s then America’s craftsman expect an increase. And rightfully so. But we don’t build junk intentionally here, they do. There is the difference between us and them.

Manufacturing in the USA is supply and demand period. To assume the supply will stop somehow because of China is totally incorrect.

Let me give you another example. God forbid we should be at war with China tommorrow,. Do you suppose the USA will be buying China’s product still? Do you actually believe we we will fold up shop and send up a white flag? Because I assure you we won’t. What pray tell do you think will happen here in the US of A.

Peace

I’m afraid of Obama more than Russia and China. I know what they will do.
I have to walk a good country mile to believe that any American could really feel that way. Unless he’s planning on spying or saboteuring for them in the event of war with said powers.
