I know that you don’t agree with my (and the Church’s) interpretation of the story of Onan. But from this comment I am not sure that you understand The Church’s interpretation?
Sperm ends up in all sorts of places, on the ground, in the drain, etc. That is not the sin. It is the deliberate means by which it got there that can be sinful. It is impossible to sin while sleeping.

The thread is about a man who can’t have sex with his wife because if she gets pregnant she could DIE.
So the church stance is either abstinence or nfp.
If the guy uses contraception IT IS A SIN.
It is absolutely ludicrous to control that man’s life like that.
So my point is: where does it say contraception is a sin?
That is the reason for the debate.
It is an issue of the church deeming something sinful which has no biblical support.
