(3)what is the spirit of homosexuality that is comes against the fruit of the spirit and the spirit of christ…knowing our battle is not against flesh and blood, but powers and principalities. if you believe paul in romans 1:26-27, is referring to homosexuals, you have to say shame based lust. that is what you may believe. but is that what you have witnessed? without witness all you have is unsubstantiated belief. what is it you saw when you have fellowshipped with homosexual believers?

so far no one has answered them.
Question 3) The spirit of homosexuality is related the spirit of contraception. Both separate sex from the life giving power of human reproduction. They bring lust into a loving relationship. The spirit of “lust and death” fights against the Spirit of “Love and Life”. Most human sexual relationships mix love and lust together, which makes it harder to see the lust clearly. Having won a few battles for love and life against the spirit that promoted contraception in my own marriage, I see more clearly that what I battled against was a principality that does not want either children or humans to exist. God makes humans in His image, and that which hates God also hates humans.

Homosexuals encounter an evil spirit that doesn’t want life to flow out of love because that evil spirit hates life, love and humanity. Take St. Paul’s and St. John’s advice—look back to the beginning of creation. God made us male and female so that human life would flow forth from our love. I don’t know if that answers your questions now, but that’s my witness. I believe it and I live it. Because my husband and I live it, we now care for seven beautiful children made in the image and likeness of God.

I hope my last few posts answered the questions you asked. I must now go and take care of those little images and likeness of God. 🙂 (They also bear a striking resemblance to their earthly father and me, but they look nothing like puppies. 😉 )

As a self-identified “Catholic”, you show a gross irgnorance of why homosexual acts are condemned as grave sin and an abomination before God.

To educate you a bit: God did not “create” the disordered sexual attraction of SSA – this is a subsequent consequance of original sin. The only evidence needed to condemn is natural moral law. Jesus explicitly condemned lust and impurity. Human beings are moral creatures, all other animals are not. Man is a free will creature with higher rational powers, an intellect that animal intelligence can only dimly mimic, and all non-human animals are restricted and bound by a set range of instinctual behaviors. Exceptions, anomalies, abberations, …do not establish the norm – they are deviations from the norm.
ecclesiastes has another understanding 3:18 I also thought, “As for men, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. 19 Man’s fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath ** ; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. 21 Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal [c] goes down into the earth?”**

I am sorry to hear that - and a little puzzled too. Among my Catholic friends and family homosexuality is pretty much a non-issue. If anything they have a predilection to be indulgent of persons who are actively gay.

Yes, you are right. We are all sinners and are all likely to sin again. We are in no position to judge others and have been told by Christ not to pass judgements on others.

Please pray for those who condemn persons with same sex attraction.
If you have followed this thread, you will have noted a clear distinction between same sex attraction and persistent espousal of the idea that homosexual acts are just fine and dandy. You will note that on this thread, there is no condemnation of same sex attraction. None. Nada.

The admonition not to pass judgment on others applies to PEOPLE: those who do not understand why homosexual acts are intrinsically evil or those so imprisoned in their sexuality they see no reason to control it. We are very much expected to warn our brethren who persist in the idea that homosexual behavior is good.

Christians are very much expected to have well formed consciences that can discern good from evil. In draging out the “judge not” text for a purpose it was not intended to serve, you have given Adolph Hitler a free pass. You eliminate the distinction between Mother Teresa and Josef Stalin.

God came to us to set the matter straight. We are not ENTIRELY like the animals. Like the animals, we are flesh. In the image of God, we have reasoning soul.

I believe gays can be great Christians. Jesus didn’t condemn homosexuality, and it exists in nature. If God dislikes it, why did He create it? Why is Man any different in his homosexuality than animals? Why would God reason, “Well, I’ll consider okay in animals, but a grave sin in humans?” Why?
Get a grip! Certain animals eat their young. Should we? Certain animals cannibalize their mates. Should we? It is a grave sin (as is all sexual enterprise outside of marriage) because human beings are called to live in the image of their creator.

My dog licks his anus-does that make it OK for us to do it also? He couples with every female dog he can get at-does that make it OK for us? Snakes eat their young. Does that mean eating my child would nor be a grave sin?

Can you show me where Jesus condems rape? Robbing Banks? Incest? Pediophilia? Are all these OK because Jesus didnt condmen them.?

BTW-God does not dislike them. He is , I am sure, is saddened by ther rejection of him by their sinful behavior.

But at times, under certain conditions, people have had to do all these things, too. You seem unwilling to accept our similarities with our fellow creatures. On the issue of likeness to God – how can we address our sexual issues, when Jesus was celibate, and it is only through Him that we can know God? Again, I disagree with charity, not with contempt. In time, with great effort, perhaps I will come to agree with you. We’ll see.👍

But we have done these things, as a species. Yes…we have. People lick anus. We are promiscuous. We cannibalize. We have done these things you mention. They are within our capability. Yes…we do share in the heritage of life on Earth. We are not that different, by design.

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO GET ME BANNED. I DISAGREE ONLY WITH GOOD INTENTIONS, AND WITH ABUNDANT CHARITY.👍

It appears you message is tha in order to accept homosexual beahavior as acceptable behavior we must act like animals?

how can you differeniate acts of sexual expression and same sex attraction. human beings are sexual beings and express human bonding thru acts of sexual intercourse. the issue of sex and marriage is moot, because homosexuals arent allowed to be married.

Setter and Dale_M, some of the comments included:

“F&cking F&ggots”

“I’ll disown my kid if she ever comes out as gay”

“Those people [gays] are going straight to hell and deserve the hate they get on earth”

Some of the Catholics who have this attitude aren’t avid Bible readers, but a couple of them are and they’ll twist the words to get the meaning that supports their views. What surprises me is that these people are actually nice, loving people in many other ways. But when the subject of homosexuality comes up, they’re up in arms against it.

But there is no need for one who experiences same gender attraction to be in therapy unless there are other issues to be dealt with.
Some therapies do little good for any disorder so I’m not sure how to respond. If you mean there is no way to overcome the disorder then I disagree. I’ve friends who have overcome the disorder. I’ve heard the testimony of many who have overcome it. However, it is a strong disorder and not everyone who tries to overcome is successful. But those who endure until the end, as the Apostle says, and keeps on getting up to lead a sinless life will be saved.

No. What I’m saying is that homosexuality is a natural phenomena. Acknowledging that fact, we should depathologize it.

Yes and no. If you look back to my post you will see I was replying to TheGoodLife who stated: “I see many of my Catholic friends and family who use their faith and the Bible to justify their hateful remarks toward gays…”

Please read my comments in the context in which they were made.

Absolutely!

You’ve got the wrong customer to challenge with being “unwilling to accept our similariaties with our fellow creatures.” I majored in English and minored in Zoology in college.

“How can we address our sexual issues, when Jesus was celibate?” Why not? His celibacy, to my mind, at least on one level means that while our sexuality, well lived, may be a path to sanctification, sexual expression is definitely not essential to my life in Christ.

its hard to keep it straight where and who the christians that know are. we thought they were the church going ones in the south.(white ones for a hundred years) but then we found they were all guilty of severe racism. so we thought it was the ones in the north because they fought for emancipation proclamation. but we found out the christians in the north were just as guilty of racism(100 years) as the ones in the south… not realizing… the ones that knew were in the west coast. but they were responsible for the japanese internment.

and in all the cases, the only way those christians gave up their racism was, because those, whose rights were maligned forced them to, by persistant and annoying protests, thru the courts. and during this time there were many christians who believed there was something not right about the racism…but refused to out speak for fear of reprisal.

newton who wrote amazing grace. was captain of a slave ship…experienced first hand the travails of slavery …after writing it, retired from the occupation of slaving and was a successful preacher for thirty years. but it wasnt until after thirty years…did newton realize that slavery was against god, and that was because a brother in christ came to him and explained it to him.

please realize that most of the sin offerings required in lev were for unknown sin.

and that even in the area of known sin paul wrote in absolute sincerity and certainy in romans 7:14We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

Please forgive me. Yes, I sensed you possessed a certain kind of ‘special knowledge’ when you spoke up earlier. I can only imagine the deeply penetrating insights that such a powerful mix of academic disciplines – that of English and Zoology – would give one on the issues of nature, language, theology, and just about everything else. You see, my education was blunt, if not truncated. I majored in Nuclear Physics, German and Psychology. I have been plagued by obsessions with Freud, Einstein and Marx, since that time. I have nightmares, too, and it’s then that I hear the same voice shouting in my head, “Hitler. Hitler.” :ehh:

You are thrashing, Dear. Simply thrashing. The quote from Romans shows that Paul was struggling with what he knew to be sin. Slavery? Please. I have forebears who were mutilated and whose lives were forever damaged in the fight against it.

Here. Give yourself some breathing room and take a break. On me: :coffee: :hug3: :coffee:

Oi. I also suffered from Freud for years. Later, I had the misfortune of being educated as a Priest in the Episcopal Church during the vogue of Bultmann and all manner of sexual “liberation.” Took me half a generation to recover from that and todiscover the divine and natural moral law. WHAT a relief!

So we should depatholgize cannibalism?

A value system based on whatever animals do is fine does not sem to be much of a values system at all.
