But it’s good and noble to show your kids a heavier person waddling down the street and then tell them “do what you can to NOT be like that” because most of those folks are there due to their choices.
Yikes, sorry, no, I would not do that, and I don’t think it’s noble.
The hard, sharp lance of truth is that most of those folks are there due to choice.

Essentially, they chose that life through poor discipline. It’s an Excellent example of that lesson.

Because obesity is overwhelmingly the result of lifestyle choices. That is why I think it is a lack of responsiblity.

SJW = Social Justice Warrior. I find it hard to believe someone can be familiar with the Internet and not know what an SJW is. SJWs invented the term fat phobia.

But as a whole, obesity is largely an issue of self control.
heavier people are more physically limited, they encounter more illness, more prone to heart disease, cancer. They don’t live as long. They make healthcare more expensive on the macroeconomic level.

There’s so much wrong with what you’ve said. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to do the research for you to prove you wrong. Read the book, or just google, “Health At Every Size”

How old are you people? Just wait until you hit 60 or 70.
Age makes no difference. But I’m no kid.

My 78 year old dad mastered his weight (for the most part).

The hard, unpleasant truth? On the day-to-day he gains weight if he goes much over 1100-1200 calories at his age.

That aint much food. But that’s the choice he’s gotta make if he wants to stay thinner.

There are many medications that can and do cause people to gain weight. Not all weight gain is the result of gluttony or laziness.

Google “Health At Every Size”

Please don’t insult me for not knowing what SJW means.

Wrong. Google “Health At Every Size”
You can always find some quack with a Ph.D to say something.

Scientific consensus is that extra weight impacts you negatively in virtually any significant health measure. Almost every disease is harder to treat in someone more obese.

Health at Every Size? Are you serious?

Alright: I’m done. There is no convincing you if you cite pseudoscience.

Oh wow. Have we degraded this conversation to insults? All because y’all judge fat people negatively?

May God bless you.

I’m 31. I developed an eating disorder in my teens (not surprising, considering family history and environment) and my weight yo-yoed a lot into my mid-20s. I have done much better since receiving treatment for post partum depression after my first and second children, and discovering that I absolutely loved running.

Have I accused myself of gluttony in the confessional? You bet. But that’s my sin and it’s my business with God (and my therapist).

It is not y place to judge anyone’s health… Iam not a medical professional.
It is not my place to judge anyone’s sin. I am not a confessor

You can always find some quack with a PhD…

Doctors used to believe that bleeding an ill patient was an excellent course a treatment, too.

Have you googled “Health At Every Size”?

I never heard of it. And I don’t care who invented it. I hate the use of initials for everything. But no need to be mean about someone not knowing what it means.
