if it is alive and someone does something to make it dead its murder

plus comment that “it is womans body to do with what she pleases” is wrong

it is a separate body with different dna and is completely different.just because she is keeping it alive dont give you the right to kill it , eh!!

Yeah, and which means becoming a Pharisee, which means we’ve by-passed Christ and live for the glory of ourselves- **I speak from experience that it is frightfully something very easy to fall into. **

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:sad_yes:
Anne Elizabeth, so do I. Furthermore, I also have had the experience of someone trying to “convert” me to a certain position by serious name-calling. It does harden the heart. Believe me. And it considerably delays any kind of possible conversion.

It is pretty much always uncharitable. 🤷

To figure out whether or not it is charitable you need to look at why you are saying, what it coneys, and how it will be seen by those you are refering to.

I find it very hard to think of any situation where using the term ‘baby killers’ is anything but a derogatory jab at those who favour abortion. This is not charitable. I can see the phrase “Someone who kills children” as being said in a charitable way on occasion, given the right circumstances, but not “Baby Killer”

People who are pro-choice are not “pro-abortion.” So pretty much all these references are insulting and lack charity.
Beg to differ.

People who support choice support abortion as one of those choices, hence, they are supportive of abortion.

This is sorta like being pregnant; one either is or is not. One is either against abortion in all circumstances or for abortion as a “choice”.

“Pro-choice” is just a more civil way to dress up the “choice” involved, which is to terminate a human being’s life.

I think ‘hurting the feelings’ of those culpable for this is the least of our concerns.
As a Christian are we not called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us? To hate the sin but love the sinner?

How, pray tell, do you see hurting someones feelings as a sign of love for them?

And with that in mind, perhaps we should remember to remove the log from our own eye before dealing with the speck in our neighbours.

Bust out the “Save the Baby’s” signs and we’ll have a parade.:tiphat:

People who are pro-abortion aren’t necessarily baby killers, so you shouldn’t say this. They may think abortion is ok, but don’t cause abortion, talk about their views on abortion, preform abortions, or vote on policies or candidates based on abortion issues.

They may have never had a single shred of influence that effected if a baby was killed or not!

I’m sorry that’s what they are. Pro abortionists are baby killers. However, someone told me its disrespectful (they were pro life btw). To me i don’t think anyone who advocates killing anyone deserves respect other than the basic respect God asks us to give them. To me they might as well be the same as the guards who ran Auschwitz. I know its harsh, but its true.
Well I’ve never known anyone to be pro-abortion in my entire life. There are those that think it is for the woman alone to decide whether she wants to have a baby. The reason there is abortion is mainly for economic reasons. If a single woman has a baby she will most likely live a life of poverty.
When I was a teenager a girl in my high school class became pregnant and here Catholic parents took her to Planned Parenthood to have an abortion. Today she has three kids, married and has a college degree where she earns a a high five figure income.
Abortion happens because of the economics of having a child when a woman is not married. If the Church concentrated on that fact alone then abortion would be a lot fewer then they are today.
IMHO. YMMV.

It’s also true that we are all sinners and all authors of Christ’s Passion. Should we go up to every person we meet and yell “Sinner! Jesus killer!” in their face? I hope the answer to that question is obvious.

I’m not opposed to referring to abortion as “baby killing.” But to call pro-abortion/choice individuals “baby killers”? I have to wonder what one would hope to gain by doing such a thing.

Clearly, the motivation is to repeat the success that the 1970s antiwar movement had in ending war.

This is an unfair assessment. (If I’m catching what I think you are insinuating) Christ has already told us that this world will never be a utopia. We can’t expect a perfect world. That is why the anti-war movements failed, because their premise was faulty and based on a peace that was not in Christ. We have been told that Christ’s peace is not the same as the peace of the world. Only in Christ and only Christ’s peace will bring true and lasting peace.

I can’t find the scripture right now but there is also something I believe St. Paul said about tearing down others and then going down to mutual destruction.

Perhaps the (hollow) satisfaction of saying: “Lord, I thank thee that I am not as this baby killer?” 😉

Hate the sin, but love the sinner, especially if the latter is labouring under a poorly formed conscience or other difficult circumstances. Otherwise, we run the risk of falling into the sin of spiritual pride. One can certainly condemn abortion in the strongest terms without inflammatory rhetoric. Do we respect militant Muslims just because they call us “The Great Satan”? Does our Holy Father feel the need to call people “Baby Killer!” despite their strong and often-stated opposition to abortion? We should not try to imitate the bad examples set by people outside our faith.

Indeed. When it comes to things like this, I think we always need to turn and take a look at our shepherds in the faith, especially the chief shepherd. Can anyone picture Pope Benedict standing outside an abortion clinic yelling “Baby Killers!” as people enter? No. We would do well to really reflect on why that is.

I suppose it depends on the exact use of the phrase. If you are trying to explain to a younger person what abortion is, then you might use direct language that involves describing that a baby is killed. Here the charity is that you use language suited to the understanding of the person you are talking to, so they can gain knowledge.

If, however, you are talking alone with your sister at her house and insist on calling her a baby killer several times during the discussion in reference to her political views, is this going to have the effect of increasing her understanding of the truth and expressing your love for your sister? Or will it only incite her to anger? If you fully expect the latter, then charity dictates you choose a different way to express yourself, one that has a chance of a positive outcome for your sister. If you care about her, then do something that will affect her soul and life in a positive manner.

Your sister doesn’t exist to hear whatever it suits you to say. She exists to love God and live in communion with others. Do stuff that helps her do that.

Pro choice is obfuscation. No one is pro choice. If they favor legally killing unborn child they are pro abortion.

Like all things it depends on the circumstances and intention of the speaker. That is true for all use of language.
