Is cultural loss a consequence of evangelization?

Well, if what you mean is that some cultural vestiges of paganism are left over, then that is all over Europe already.

But if one had to choose, the Truth trumps all “culture”.

Yeah, except those guys were sacrificing humans which would need to stop

Paul said christians don’t need to circumcise themselves and that the Law of Moses no longer applied. I don’t want it to apply to me, but I like the fact that Jews at least try to follow it

What if you evangelize gang bangers? KKK members? Still fear their loss of culture? Not all cultures are good cultures. While there may be beauty in many of them, truth and eternal life are more important than temporal beauty or human tradition.

Those guys are homicidal criminals, of course they should abandon their “culture”, just like Aztecs should have been forced to abandon human sacrifices. But it’s not comparable to building statues of Buddha

To follow Jesus means that one must give up everything: to include their former beliefs, family, friends, their job, house, and all things of this world. If we all do this then we will have gained ever lasting life.
More over we will know what true love, joy, and peace really means, and that is worth more than having a hundred million world’s at our disposal.

Why would visiting the Kaaba whenever you feel like send you to hell if you don’t worship anyone other than Jesus

I don’t know, but I also don’t know that it wouldn’t. That’s why I was asking you.

Do muslim converts still visit it? I don’t think non muslim’s are even allowed near it.

Yes, but if Jesus is the way, truth, and life, why does the Kaba matter?

It’s a nice cultural legacy. Even Christian festivals have pagan origins, like Christmas

I Would say that it simply needs to be recognised as that, cultural.

2 Corinthians 5:17

“If then any be in Christ a new creature, the old things are passed away, behold all things are made new.”

Tradition and artwork are nice; however, times change and new development takes place. The Catholic Church is at the cutting edge of societal evolution! If some stuff must be put aside, So Be It.

Indeed, so be it, but let’s try to keep it to a minimum. If Thailand or Sri Lanka become christian, the last thing I want is the abandonment, christianization or outright destruction of their age-old and beautiful Buddhist temples

For example, we’re not tearing down the Pyramids because they’re pagan. Unless something is blatantly satanic and/or blasphemous, it should be appreciated for its craftsmanship.

I wouldn’t want ex Muslim Christian converts to stop making the Hajj, I would just want them to assign to it a cultural meaning, not religious (unless they think it brings them closer to Christ, in which case fine by me)
