No they don’t. But, that’s the nature of the beast. A cursory look at history or the daily news reveals what we do to one another over differences of opinion. Some things really matter, the most are those that connect us to God - the truth, love, justice, beauty and joy. Anything that threatens that had better watch out.

But then one is no better than the other.

Unfortunately, people often justify their nastiness by pointing their fingers at someone else. Is that Christ-like? Do you honestly think Jesus would actually buy that argument? Is insulting, demeaning, and/or stereotyping people moral under any circumstances? Already I’ve been labeled an “atheist” three times, and those that did that didn’t even have the decency to ask me if I was.

[continued if a few minutes]

I thought you do not believe in absolute truth.
That is off-topic for this thread. My problem is how to tell an absolute truth from a relative truth. For example, in some circumstances 1 + 1 = 2 is false and 1 + 1 = 10 is true, relative to the particular circumstances.

A new balance is struck. Organisms interact with their environment; they affect it and it changes them. Composed of different parts, the ecosystem is a unified whole, shifting and changing as it hovers around homeostasis until it doesn’t. An city-sized asteroid will ruin your day. And then it is reset, as intended.

[continued from my previous post]

Let me briefly mention why I’m here at CA.

I am involved at two other religious websites, although one of them I only rarely post. The other one is really a good site but, unfortunately, it tends to contain a lot of anti-Catholic threads. At one point, I counted seven active ones. So, I decided to seek out a site that is not so anti-Catholic, so I googled it and found this place.

What I didn’t expect or want was to find was a site whereas my “welcoming” was so hostile and unChrist-like by several people here. I didn’t come here to demean anyone, but neither did I come here to get demeaned. I’ve been here roughly one week but I have strong doubts I’m going to be staying. However, I’ve decided I’ll stay a few days more and then make a decision.

To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I’m appalled at the hostility of some here. I certainly don’t blame everyone or even most here, so thus far I’ve made the decision just to ignore the aggressive ones here (I feel like Madame DeFarge in “A Tale of Two Cities”, writing down names, but in this case, not to execute but to ignore).

Anyhow, I gotta go, so I hope all here have a most blessed weekend and a Happy New Year.

I just thought of something. Why do 3rd-6th graders need to be taught about evolution? We don’t teach them how microwaves or motherboards work but for some reason evolution, which has exactly zero practical effect on their lives, is a ‘MUST LEARN!’ subject.

Seems odd to me.

If God exists outside space and outside of time, how can it be proper to refer to him as a ‘thing’?
Then call Him an “existing entity” if that makes you happier: “God created all existing entities except Himself.”

Simple Programming is taught in our primary school. I don’t recall evolution being addressed though.

Even Darwin who wrote the Origin of the Species admitted in his book that It is absurd to think that evolution could explain everything for the anatomy is so complex and he goes on to give the example of the complexity of the anatomy of the eye.
