Is Darwin's Theory Of Evolution True? Part Two

The church has fought against evolution for centuries. This is not new.
I’m not aware of any fighting against evolution, but rather fighting against those who misuse the theory and have incorrect interpretations such as polygenism.

Okay, I agree that passing on DNA is built-in, but what is not is the mutations, gene flow, genetic drift.

The so-called evidence for evolution is presented by a bunch of atheists (mostly) who view everything from their belief that all life on earth evolved from microbes. I don’t know what “evidence” there really is for evolution, because I don’t trust scientists to describe reality objectively.
Ad hominem attack.

If you do convince someone that evolution is incompatible with faith, then they are forced to either accept evolution and deny their faith, or accept the faith and deny evolution.
God tests everyone. When the Church finally comes to her senses and infallibly declares that evolution is incompatible with the faith, there is going to be a lot of testing and soul-searching going on.
I don’t put much stock in what you speculate the Church will do.

So your suggestion is that we should read genesis like a science book? Funny, the Catholic authority doesn’t agree with you.
No, I wouldn’t suggest reading Genesis (1, 2) as science. For one thing, these Scriptures describe the miracle of creation - it would be stupid to try and understand any miracle using science. Rather, Genesis is history, not science.

We now understand the extent that the DNA mutation repair fights through several iterations.

It is fascinating the functionality and complexity of repairing mutations. They function similar to a parity bit in transmitting binary code, but way more complex and thorough.

Knowing all of this challenges mutation claims.

Here is one:

DNA suffers damage all the time both from outside influences, such as radiation or chemicals, and also from normal cellular processes. Unrepaired, DNA damage can lead to cancer or birth defects. Several genes linked to a high risk of cancer, such as the “breast cancer gene” BRCA2, have turned out to be involved in DNA repair.
When damage crosses both strands of the DNA double helix, a sophisticated repair process is activated that uses the same DNA sequence on the matching chromosome. One of the strands is stripped back, leaving an exposed single strand. The matching chromosome is brought alongside and partly unwound, and acts as a template to repair the broken piece.
At this point, the two chromosomes are intact but attached at two points through structures called “Holliday junctions,” where DNA strands from the two chromosomes cross each other. To finish the process, the chromosomes have to separate – like the magician’s interlocking rings, one has to pass through the other.

Okay, then mutations that we do see in the newly evolved ecoli strand must be in the process of repair? That is a hypothesis that can be tested, but is there any research on it? Obviously that would be shown in the ongoing experiment.

Some revelations are not immediate. For example, it took a few centuries for the Church to finalise the canon of the Bible; the Pope was not declared “infallible” until 1870.

Tucked within its double-helix structure, DNA contains the chemical blueprint that guides all the processes that take place within the cell and are essential for life. Therefore, repairing damage and maintaining the integrity of its DNA is one of the cell’s highest priorities.

"Fortunately humans have a large number of different DNA repair proteins whose task it is to find and repair damaged bases in DNA. However DNA base damage, although highly problematic, is rare and often only one or two bases per million or even fewer. The task of locating a damaged base is similar to finding a needle in a haystack."

DNA contains all the information needed for life within the sequence of its four bases; adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine. Specific sequences of bases in DNA known as genes instruct what proteins are made and furthermore genes may be switched on or off to control how much of each protein is made.

"We have uncovered an exquisite mechanism whereby a positively charged side chain of the amino acid arginine found in the Alt1 protein is used to check the electronic charge distribution across the DNA base, which is altered by alkylation damage.

Scientists discover first 'DNA ambulance’

"Scientists knew that severely injured DNA was taken to specialized ‘hospitals’ in the cell to be repaired
, but the big mystery was how it got there," said Karim Mekhail, a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology. “We’ve now discovered the DNA ‘ambulance’ and the road it takes.”

if there was any doubt about the level of religious fervor at work here, take note of the quantity of flippant, ridiculing posts on the thread.
Any Catholics here who have posted flippant or ridiculous comments should seriously consider going to confession to cleanse their souls of flippancy and ridiculousness. I find the comments re the flipping of coins to be especially flippant.

True, but only God knows what will happen. Even the best of human knowledge cannot predict the future, especially as the Spirit blows as it wills.

Saying you know for sure it will be condemned says you know the future, and know infallibly that it is wrong. If it is wrong, why do the Popes and the Bishops and so many Catholics speak so favorably of it, even the Catechism seems to say it helps us praise God.

I don’t think for me or others I know it is a source of spiritual evil. It does not impair me from being a holy person. It does not lead to sin or heresy or anything that would imperil my immortal soul. As long as we remain faithful to Christ, we will find out the truth about evolution.

Dawkins comments on theistic evolution are the most sensible things he ever said.

Adaptation Plays Significant Role In Human Evolution

For years researchers have puzzled over whether adaptation plays a major role in human evolution or whether most changes are due to neutral, random selection of genes and traits. Geneticists now have laid this question to rest. Their results show adaptation-the process by which organisms change to better fit their environment-is indeed a large part of human genomic evolution.

"Adaptation becomes widespread in the population very quickly," Petrov said. "Whereas neutral random mutation doesn’t and would not have the selective sweep signature."

“We tried to see if these regions of unusual similarity among all humans tended to be in particular places in the genome as the theory predicts they should be, and indeed we find them there,” Petrov said. "The work suggests human beings have undergone rampant adaptation to their environment in the last 200,000 years of history."

"We are on a crest of a wave showing that adaptation is a lot more prevalent than we thought,
" Petrov said. Adaptation Plays Significant Role In Human Evolution -- ScienceDaily

Does everyone yet see how the tide is turning?

Science does not deal with God/Allah/Vishnu etc. None of them get a mention in the theory of gravity, in the theory of thermodynamics or in the theory
How do you explain the fact that “gravity” spelt backwards is “god”?
