Sometimes I think of people dying. What makes people special when they die? Have you changed your mind on someone after death?
Yes. I do not know why we must look for the good in someone who is evil that has passed. I often wonder what will be said of me when I pass. I am no mother Teresa. I cannot see or imagine what I have done for others. I will never know anyways. We really don’t like to speak ill of the dead. Logically we know that dying hasn’t changed who they were when alive but maybe it’s human nature to create these narratives, especially for a tragic death.

Often we think of the deceased in that way because of charity. We hope and pray for their salvation, even if it doesn’t fulfill our human expectations of justice. We try to understand God’s perfect love, mercy, and justice.Yes. I do not know why we must look for the good in someone who is evil that has passed…
In a way it does.Dying does not change who you were when you were alive.
Some may see this as a weakness.I am absolutely horrified and scared of Death. To me it represents the ultimate unknown and I fear it. And ironically this fear has only grown as I have gotten older, but I hope one day to finally accept it. I guess I won’t have much of a choice as I do understand that all things die. But not everyone truly lives to throw in a Braveheart quote![]()
Giving my heart and life to Jesus, I often thought death would be just another fence to cross… Then I began praying certain devotions to Mary (and the Rosary has the same hint in it: Pray for us sinners, NOW and at the hour of our death…) and I see that the saints pray for her intercession at the hour of our death over and over again… suddenly I’m thinking death isn’t so easy… I’m still asking for her intercession and hopefully won’t stop. I pray for so many others, especially the hard-hearted who have no faith in Jesus…!I am absolutely horrified and scared of Death. To me it represents the ultimate unknown and I fear it. As Catholics we believe in purgatory, where we are purged of all that is unworthy to be in God’s presence in heaven. So no, dying doesn’t change who we were, but purgatory makes us more and more the person we really are. My father was a very hard person to love, not because he was abusive but because he was very distant with a shell that was hard to break through. Since he passed away 3 years ago I like to think of him being purged of all the hardness and becoming the father he really could have been when he was alive.Dying does not change who you were when you were alive.
There is nothing to fear but to be unrepentant.I am absolutely horrified and scared of Death. To me it represents the ultimate unknown and I fear it. Again, try to resist speculating about the state of other people’s souls.
Focus on your own.
The opinion that matters is the one God has.![]()
Is it a weakness, or just a truthful recognition of our appalling fragility? Some may see this as a weakness.
