I will tell you… this touches a very personal nerve with me because I watched this very scenario play out before my eyes with my brother during Desert Storm. My brother came home safe and sound… or we had thought so. He is no longer with us by his own choice.
I’m sorry about your brother. :signofcross: :console: May he rest in peace. I am very thankful and grateful for his service to our country.

By the by,ISLAM translated is PEACE.
Why people keep asserting this on these boards? It is not true. People, there are Arabic speakers and Linguists among you! There is no need to persist in beliving something so easily demonstratably false. “Islam” comes from the same triconsonantal root as “peace” (S-L-M), but that doesn’t mean that they are one in meaning! If that were the case, then all words coming from the K-T-B root (which denotes writing) would mean the same thing, and you would have no way to distinguish between “write”, “book”, “library”, “office”, “writer”, etc.

See this page for more on how Semitic languages form words: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triliteral

I really hope this is the last we will see of this claim! “Islam” means “submission”.

I was about to say. Where does this come from?

It makes me wonder if it is Peace through Submission…

inJESUS;4877284:
An honest Christian on this board! I love how sarcasm gives Christians moments of strength to be honest. Being of the Irish bloodline and prone to sarcasm myself, I can appreciate this! 😃

Matthew 5:17-19 Those who do the teachings of Jesus which are found also in, and confirmed via the Law and the Prophets. I am sure you have a Bible correct, inJESUS? I was able to use my Bible from the age of 5 years (knew the books; had MANY passages memorized; and delighted in the Word at a young age… which might account why I was better able to pull the mote out)… I assume since you are posting that you are over the age of 5 years and so I have hope that you will learn how to decipher the Truth from lies! Good luck! 👍
am sorry but i still do not get it. You are asking us to look at the Jewish people and i asked “which Jewish People” to which you replied about Paul. I did not ask about Paul, i asked about what you meant by “Jewish people”.

Why people keep asserting this on these boards? It is not true. … “Islam” comes from the same triconsonantal root as “peace” (S-L-M), but that doesn’t mean that they are one in meaning! …
And this doesn’t even take into account that “peace” to the Muslim does not mean the same as it does to a Christian.

“When I use a word, . . . it means precisely what I choose it to mean – neither more nor less.” – Humpty Dumpty

I was trying to work out why you blame Christians for socialism that is all

I knew no one would blame vegetarianism

As you said, socialism fitted his moral views, views that non-Christians have too

So why did you seem to imply you blame socialism on Christians as if it was a mutually exclusive club?
First of all, let us clear up that I did not blame socialism in general on the shoulders of the Christians. I place the moves we have made toward a more socialistic democracy (toxic!!) in this country… that being America on the shoulders of Christians.

The logic to coming to this conclusion is even more simple than having to use the facts behind the pledge of allegiance, really.

The nation is called a “Christian Nation;” not a Jewish, Muslim, Atheistic, Agnostic, or any other title inserted Nation. Therefore, the blame would be on their shoulders. Otherwise, we need to take their God off of our currency, out of the pledge (in fact… throw that out altogether), and they need to keep their noses out of the government and their views to themselves instead of imposing them onto the general public.

Then, the move toward socialism in this country could no longer be said to be on the shoulders of the Christians. 👍

If they want the credit and the right to make calls on the grounds of this being a christian nation (which it was not intended to be), then naturally, they must accept responsibility for what is happening as a result of their overwhelming influence. 🙂

My ideal would be to go back to the beginning (eh, I can dream). To actually BE under the constitutional document as well as the Declaration of Independence again. It is fascinating how brilliant these men were when they drew up these documents. Purely genius! And most were not Christian. Believing in one God did not originate with the Christians. 😉

I am sorry about your brother

However, as a non-American, I know what it is like to not live with a pledge to a nation’s flag

Whilst you may see it as a way of the government trying to give you a warm fuzzy feeling about the country they live in, therefore being able to manipulate them later, I see it as strength and unity and a sense of community

It is something I wish we had more here in Australia

However this is just my opinion, and I did not wish to make fun of you and your beliefs
Lesson learned. Never speak from the heart with people on this board again. Will stick to logic and sarcasm.

And no worries, kellie… Australia tends to be the wanna be tag along to America. I am sure all you have to do is say “but America has one” and you will get your wish in no time at all! 👍 Good luck!

I’m borrowing this from another thread, another poster, but for every Muslim (in forums like this) who can dialogue, at least understand A Christian position** as a** Christian position there are at least 3-4 other Muslim posters who keep misconstruing, keep restating it in Islamic understanding, Islamic “straw-man” examples of supposed Christian teaching, etc, etc…

In online religion chat-rooms, the ratio is worse–more like 10 to 1

I’ve not dialogued w/ Muslims in the “real world” so I cant tell you about that.

Right… well, perhaps it is time for both religions to start taking the motes out of their own people’s eyes… would be more effective in being able to relate and get something accomplished.

Actually, well 🤷 Am starting to reconsider that theory of Jesus’… was not effective for him and does not seem very effective here either.

Faith is what is destroying all of you (generalized) and you are going to drag the rest of us down in your strange games. Most of you are right because you say you are right regardless of the facts presented to you.

The issue is, most of the posters here who are Christians (Catholic and others) can understand a Muslim position as a Muslim Position–we do not try to misconstrue it–what gets Muslims upset when we actually quote from the Koran, from Hadiths, and actually demonstrate the “popular myth” of a peaceful, tolerant Islam is that–because the meanings of “peace” and “tolerance” and other words vary between Muslim and Western usages–and its very common for Muslim posters to hide that fact.

To be fair, many Muslims not being Arabic, never reading Arabic, dont really know what the Koran states–their religion has become rote repetitions of Arabic phrases–as Robert Spenser has pointed out, its these Muslims who are now the ripe recruiting ground for Wahhabists and Al Queda who teach them Arabic, and teach them that yes, the koran says the Verse of the Sword applies as continuing physical Jihad, that “abrogation” has done away with the “no compulsion in religion”

🙂 Thank you for your kindness. I love him and recognize his good heart, but I miss him a great deal and would rather have him here. So, I am not so thankful and grateful since he was made to find out too late that they were not there to protect their loved ones. That is done on the homefront; as hard as it is to admit. Any other way is feeding into the escalations.

This assumes that religious truths can be dispensed impartially like mathematical equations or something: “Jesus = God” or “Muhammad = Prophet” or what have you. Most people in today’s world are not swayed that way once they achieve the age of independent reasoning. That’s why teeangers often fall away into atheism…they read one Richard Dawkins book and think they know everything…

“Drag” you down with us? Pardon me, but what does my belief have to do with you? The Catechism states that we are saved only through the grace of God, so I do not go around condemning anyone to hell. Anyone. Maybe you are thinking of militant Evangelical Protestants or Muslim extremists. The average Christian, Muslim, Hindu, whatever, is not really like that.

Religion is not the enemy of all that is good in humanity. Humanity’s own absolutist certainity in its own advancement, intelligence, and over-reliance on scientific knowledge as the key to all progress is. From what I remember, there were no priests, rabbis, or imams working on the Mahattan Project.

Biased and false statements.PROVE IT.A couple of mannerly ladies do not a fundamentalist Imam make.Go to a Mosque ANY Mosque and make that assertion that “they never endorse their religion over Judaism or Christianity” and you’ll be laughed(and rightfully so)right out of the building.By the by,ISLAM translated is PEACE.

You however do make biased and false statements such as"but rather the Christians… punishable by hell for non compliance"Which is patent and absurd nonsense. You don’t know what you are talking about.

I am having difficulty taking you seriously.
I am just pulling yours up as it was your post that drug me into this… though I am not complaining. Has been delightful. 🙂 Great fun arguing with brick walls. 🤷

Think about how you (generalized… just grabbed this post as a point maker) are responding. Really look at your words. I have been pouring out buckets of information and instead of doing much to prove me wrong… I just get told to prove it further and then the not so clever diversion to the wrongs of the Muslims.

Don’t you all only claim Jesus is perfect? Then at least, can you just admit that anyone outside of Jesus should not be held to that same perfection? Do you hold yourself to that same perfection?

Fact is… you are all so blinded by your own faith that you no longer have any idea how to effectively research and think logically on your own, and so you are like little children in that you are needing me to do it all for you. My dear little ones, if you are going to call me wrong just because, well… 🤷 It is hard to reason the thought processes of those who lack. I do care and all I am trying to do is be honest. I know it is scary to look at, but Jesus knew what he was talking about when he said “the Truth shall set you free.” That is what I want for you all. I would not offer you truth if i did not think you were capable of handling it. 🙂

And do not argue my points against “our” religion with rebuttals of how evil the Muslims are, because I am not Muslim. I was raised Christian and have never been Muslim. Therefore, I do not go to them and tell them where they are blind, neither do I defend their religion. I came in here confronting the Christians because that was my religion for over 20 years; so I know it. I confront you for the same reason that Jesus said he only came for the lost house of Israel. Because only they could understand him. ahem and then education and enlightenment perhaps could finally find its way into the world and into the hearts of the people; from one to another.

Let go of your hatred for the Muslims. YOu are only destroying yourself and that is not their fault. That rests only on you. Until you can come to grips with that, you are only feeding into the negativity in the world and doing nothing to enlighten your own soul.

At this point…unless you wanna talk about the wrongs committed by our homebound religion and what we could do to change that, we will just chalk my factual evidences I brougt up against it (christianity, that is) as being wrong based on your say so! You won. Job well done. 👍 Go find yourself some Muslims and show them the error of their ways so that you can think you forget about yours.

🤷 Really?

2 Thes 1:6-9
Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

2 Cor 10:5-6
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; It is so funny how paul so blatantly declares what he is doing… but quite scary indeed how effective it is because your thoughts are so captive to the lies, you are not even bothering to read your own scriptures, but rather reading their scriptures to stir up trouble. It is VERY disturbing behavior. And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Rev 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death

When the threat of punishment for the failure to reach a particular conclusion is employed, the belief is at least partially relying on fear to promote itself. Fear discourages true independent thought and doesn’t encourage it beyond a prescribed path. Case and point has been confirmed in this thread. 🙂

And the following definitely accounts for why so many have hatred in the hearts for the true Word of God brought to you courtesy of the Jews… you all have learned your smear campaigns well from your leader 👍

1 Thess 2:14-15
For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

Titus 1:10-16
For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision(Jews):
Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.
One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate

Yeeks!!! “whose mouths must be stopped.” the MUST be stopped. How do you stop them unless by physical force?? You certainly are not well equipped with knowledge of your OWN text to stop them via debate. That much is evidence.

The REALLY sad thing is, Paul declares himself as not being in the hands of the living God, yet you are all too busy with your noses in the Muslim’s Scriptures.

Heb 10:31
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Surely it would be for Paul… I am in the hands of the living God and am feeling quite secure and safe. 🙂

Though Paul has done well all throughout his writings to show that he is deceiving you… Jesus, too, had insight for the manipulation of his teachings that were to come and yet… dang it! Get out of their texts and into the one you claim to know.

Mark 13:
5And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:
6For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

He is not saying that others will come and claim to false christs here because he addresses that a little further down. He is saying “PEOPLE!!! I am not Christ… that is Hellenistic… decipher my true teachings from the ones that Paul will insert… do this by searching the Scriptures!! Know who it is that teaches the concept of “Christ” because that is hellenestic views and that person is deceiving you… I am not Christ”… Jesus was not Christ!! He is telling you straight out. Those who come in Jesus’ name and say HE is Christ are deceiving you! It is clear cut.

In verses 21 and 22 he is not using first person but rather third… thus marking the difference to warn you! The Word was sold to the Scribes… do any of you have a clue what it is the Scribes were in charge of?? Get a grip! Either become Muslim or get your nose back into your own book because you obviously do not know it… not at all. Not in the least. Let the Muslims deal with their own deceptions! You are wrapped up in one of your own. 🙂

Simplynoone,
I take it that you are one of those people who hold that Paul invented Christianity?

 Oh geesh! Is this all the rebuttal I will ever get from you all? I wil tell you this… I find your delusion MUCH more complimentary than being called Muslim Woman. Ben is wise and you should pay attention. Jesus would have put his stamp of approval on his teachings. This I know.

Having said that, do you have anything intelligent to say? Anything that you can educate me on as to why I am wrong? It is a much more productive way to spend time than to make assumptions that you do not have any grounds on which to base them. I am not Him. I am me. I pay close attention to what he says though and so feel extremely happy that you would pay me such a compliment. 🙂 Thank you.

Now… any reason why you are not listening to him or me? Please, I am all about being proved wrong. It gives me even more to learn.

You have spoken such gorgeous compliments to me in this post that despite the bold assumptions you make about my approval of what you speak of with the Arabs and your lack of evidence to prove me wrong concerning what I have brought forth about Christianity, I feel rather fond of you! 🙂

As far as Kissinger… yes, I know the answer. Good luck in your search 👍 (assuming you have not found the answer, that is).

And proving it to boot! 👍
No, actually, you are not. Much like the Muslim posters who try this, and our one Jewish one who does, all you are doing is showing an amazing lack of understanding of Christian Doctrine.

Just pick one point that Paul raises that disputes the teachings of Jesus. Just one.

Whoever simplynoone is, Muslim Woman, Muslimah727, Sister Amy or this ben (I don’t know him), one thing is for sure this shemale is a narcistic troll.

Stop feeding it, lol.
