In Scripture Matters, Scott does an essay on the originator of Opus Dei, Jose Marie Scriva (?), I’m not sure of the name, and I’ve loaned out the book. If he were a member of that group, that would have been an ideal time to mention it.
Incidentally, Jose would read a bible chapter, and at the end of a scene, he would go back and act it out in his mind, as if he were acting out a play. It helped bring the story “closer to home” or so to speak. Wonderful method!

I’ve been involved in a lot of Opus Dei activities in Finland and am also very much into Hahn’s books. The people at the OD center here say he’s a member so most likely he is.

What is the general concensus on Scott Hahn on this board? I’m a newcomer, but very familiar with Dr. Hahn (he’s a member of our parish). What do you all think about his idea about original sin? That Adam’s sin was that he didn’t fight the devil? And what about his theory that the Holy Spirit is feminine? And how does Opus Dei fit into his theology? And how does the charismatic movement fit with Opus Dei? My opinion of his work is that it’s too protestant for my tastes. It really seeps in and permeates everything. Does anybody else get the sneaking suspicion that he is a plant? Maybe it’s just me.

Oh goodness no! If he’s a plant he’s not a very good one because after reading HIS book I started seriously thinking about becoming Catholic. Maybe it’s because I’m a recent convert - but I totally understand his explanations… my faith in the Catholic Church has grown so much since I’ve read more of his books.
