Is Islam a threat to Christianity around the globe?

I think the source of the problems are coming out of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

We have had the Iranian Revolution, and then 9/11 and so we see here in America all the time how Muslims hate us and most Americans tend to be focused on their own life here, so many didn’t even understand why except that our cultural values have been basically Judeo Christian until the 1970’s…really…considering who is in power here now…

These Islamic fundamentalists declared war on us, and now our government is allowing so many Islamic fundamentalists into our country…it is all very strange…why do they come here if they hate us so much?

And I live in the only city in the country, an actual socialist government like what our president wants in power, that refused our federal government to set up an anti-terrorist task force…even the alternative type people in town thought that was nutts…and the mindset affects so many Catholics who are afraid and stay withdrawn…I do not trust anybody…anybody in this city to do anything for me, and I say that having lived here 20 years. i don’t go to church here but to another and made the right choice…

So we see all the anti-American hatred, and 9/11 and then so many Muslims coming here wearing clothes appropriate for the desert, they are established practically on every campus in the country and their presence is frightening and intimidating not only our students on campuses, but an increasing number of citizens to be quiet…if we speak out, they will sue us…

There were the 6 imams who deliberately set up a fracas on US Airways to use the setting for a lawsuit…even naming passengers who reported their erratic behavior to the airlines…they lost the suit, but got paid a settlement…the judge should be removed…but it sent a big message to American citizens that we have to let these Muslim foreigners do anything to us…

So that is one example why we have such an opinion…
As you have often stated K…

***Pray the Rosary!!

***Satan hates it!

Yes… and we need to start rosary groups. Catholics need to understand that Catholicism ( rosaries, litanies, the angelus, divine chaplet, the liturgy of the hours… and all the rest)…is not only worship…it is spiriitual warfare…and so powerful. All of these things were prayed in every Catholic Church all the time before Vatican II…things sure have changed since then. We need to be about our Father’s business and start doing these things again.

Absolutely! We need to fight evil on all fronts, not just temporally. Spiritual warfare is overlooked often today in our increasingly secular age, where religion is is on the sidelines of everyday life.

If the faithful uniting in prayer with the Rosary can turn the tide at Lepanto, surely we do at least as well now. We need to pray more!

Yes, so I am not copping out by saying not to bear arms, I don’t mean that, but that I live in one of the least Christian areas in the country where even the local university business department admits businesses don’t want to come here because of the low moral fiber…

So, I most truly believe in spiritual warfare and living off the Word of God in this desert…it is such a grace to be in the parish I am in now where we have Adoration, a very strong Marian presence and Pro Life…a real sisterhood among the women and all trustworthy and fraternal.

By the way, KathleenGee, if you don’t mind me asking, but where in the Northwest are you located? I can only think of a few cities that contain an university and a low sense of moral fiber evident in the populace. I’m apologize for being off-topic.

I don’t want to share…nothing against you…I have a pornshop across the street from our families…some houses with kids next door…the school bus has to go through the porn shop parking lot to pick up the kids…it was imposed on us by Supreme Court with a lawyer who worked on this for 20 years to remove any loopholes…

It was the only state where the people voted to close down private schools and we all knew it was the Catholics who were mainly private…

People here do not want to repeat their anti-Catholic past…but well,…you feel the spiritual oppression when you come here…everybody says so…I don’t know why people, Catholics, can’t break this…they are still recalling the KKK coming to their churches…a priest started a prayer service years ago at his parish…and some there were so upset, they came by and shot guns by his house and he had a nervous breakdown…we had our collie poisoned, my daughter’s reputation destroyed by kids breaking into her locker at Catholic high school her beginning freshman year…still has scars, married now but left the Catholic Church…we were personally hit…but it is OK, we are overcoming alot now. I want to get my digital and get those from my community center to come with me and take a picture of the schoolbus going through and see what response we get…probably nothing.

That’s certainly okay. I’m sorry to hear what you have experienced. Also, as a senior at the University of Oregon, I do have an idea of where you may be situated. In the end, I hope the situation you’re experiencing will be resolved.

Thanks…my girlfriend advised me to just go to another parish as we live on the city boundary…

I am a native Seattleite, born on Catholic, I mean, Capitol Hill and baptized at St. James Cathedral…I can say that…and yes, we are doing OK…my daughter and new husband are moving to Newport, OR, a very friendly town…and for that I am happy…the family is Protestant but we are very connected and open to each other…another great blessing…

I just am afraid of the local politics…I must say I do hospice and home health and get out to meet all kinds of people…meeting people one to one in their homes is alot different…and it is a blessing…just the public politics…scary to me…

Thanks!

A Catholic church in the Philippines has been attacked with a grenade in Southern Philippines.

Another Christian church has been vandalized in Malaysia over the word Allah that some Christians want to use.

1/3 of the Muslim students at this school approve of the killing in the name of Islam in the UK. I wonder if any energy is being expended by Muslims to tell these people that they are misunderstanding Islam?

The energy that Muslims have expended to tell their own that they are against terrorism is to be noted here. In a city that is full of Muslims, one of the biggest Muslim cities in the USA, had a protest to tell the Muslim world (and to show us that Muslims are against the Jihadists) … 12 people showed up.

I am impressed.

Attention, attention!!

First Time I have seen this…50 Muslims in the USA walked out on an American street and only Fox News covered it yesterday…they are saying they are Americans and that they oppose terrorism!!!

50 Muslims…atleast have the courage to identify with America and good citizenship…and denounce terrorism…they could also be risking their lives to do so!

We pray for them!

Well, that wasn’t quite true. The media lied to us. It was only 12 Muslims who showed up.

At first the reports were that there were 150 of them, then the number went to 50 of them. Now we find out that it was 12 of them. Maybe tomorrow we will find out that it was really a rally for Hamas. Ok, I am being sarcastic with that last sentence but this whole thing tells me that not even Fox news can be trusted. Could it be that the ownership of Fox’s parent Corp went from 4.5% to now being 14% and that MPAC (A Muslim Brotherhood front group) is having an effect on what/how Fox news reports Muslim news? Seems a bit suspect to me.

Ugh. Why is anyone in the KSA government allowed to own any controlling interest in anything in the USA? I’m not much of a jingoist, but it makes me sick that this same government that finances global Islamic terrorism directed against the USA and all other non-Islamic and non-Wahabbist countries is at the same time allowed to influence everything to such a degree just because they’re floating in petro-dollars. I see a lot of bumper stickers and the like that say “DIVEST FROM ISRAEL”, which, yeah, fine, whatever, but Israel does not build radical synagogues across the world with the aim of making the world submit to the most brutal form of Judaism imaginable.

That was Good justified post. …

… The Christians seem to feel endangered from Islam in some way. It cannot be due to those terrorists. There must be some other fear or failure for Christianity that is haunting them. May be some people are questioning or leaving Christianity in these days.

The more they preach the church teachings, the more the people will ask questions. Every one can read Bible now because it is made available in all languages in the world. The Quran is also available. People will read and decide things on merit. There is no need to malign any one. Let us hope for some reconciliation with Love. The terrorists will be looked after by the government agencies and punished, we hope.
“It cannot be due to those terrorists” ? Why can’t it be? I would say that the terrorism is what makes us aware of the threat. If Muslims abided by the “live and let live” principle, nobody would feel threatened. I feel that our way of life, freedom to practice Christianity, and civilization are threatened, but nothing is a threat to the Truth of Christianity on a level playing field where everyone can read the Bible or Quran and decide for themselves; however, in some Muslim-majority countries, the playing field is not level, that is, the Bible is outlawed or access to it is severely restricted. It seems that Muslims feel threatened by Christianity and so they ban Bibles and churches. In the West, you can buy a Quran easily in any large bookstore or read one in the library. Can’t say the same in reverse. Our universities teach comparative religion courses, not so in, for example, Kuwait or Saudi Arabia.

You seem to be right in what you said. But there cannot be any threat to the civilisation from few terrorists. These terrorists are not more powerful than Hitler or the Japanese. The Japanese suicide bombers had tried their tactics. But they failed. So will be the case of those terrorists who are blowing themselves up.

Their enegy will be exhausted and that will be the end of it, after much damage to the public. The end result will be bad for those who are killing people. That is not the field to defeat any one. The real field is in moral grounds. They do not have any moral grounds for what they are doing.

So you need not worry. They will be defeated eventually. The world is not too small. It is a big world. The terrorists and their silly supporters will disappear and may go in the hide-out. Already they are being killed and surrounded.

Islam will never attack Christianity or Jesus. There will be some war of words. But no more. That will be available to both sides. I know that the Muslims are not allowing free speeches to the church people in Muslim countries. That is a good proof that they are wrong in doing that. It is not Islamic. It is anti-Islamic to prevent people from preacing (peacefully) any faith.

I admit that there is freedom in western countries which is lacking in Muslim countries. I know the reason for that. But it is not good to disclose it here now. It is due to some misunderstanding of the word Kufr by the Muslims. That is all.

The reason for the violence against minorities in many Muslim majority countries, in my opinion, has a few causes. Allow me to state my case, peacefully and without anger.

In my opinion, religion cannot be vested with a vast amount of secular power. This is the primary mistake which has caused many religions to turn violent at various points in history. The Catholic faith tried it. From the ninth century all the way to the seventeenth century and often beyond, the Church held vast amounts of temporal power as bishops became equal to counts and dukes. The horrors of the Inquisition and Crusades were born of this. Crusaders in the Holy Land even had competitions to kill Jewish babies.

On the Protestant side, esp. under Queen Elizabeth II in England, Catholics were ruthlessly persecuted and excluded from government under such acts such as the Test Act. As a side note, the song “Twelve Days of Christmas,” is actually a code invented in sixteenth-century England to teach children the Catechism.

This is exactly the same thing happening in Islamic nations today. Because Shari’a law is applied to all citizens, regardless of creed or race, human rights are disrespected. So-called honor rapes and killings of Christians and Jews are allowed because clerics control both aspects of peoples lives, spiritual and temporal.

This is why the Holy See has taken definitive steps to prevent the Church from becoming an instrument of the state, and vice-versa. Privileges which allow secular authority to appoint ecclesiasticals, such as the Portugese and Spanish Padroado, have been withdrawn. The idea of separation of Church and State is that religious bodies can set-up schools, madarasahs, etc, and that the faithful will obey the law of the Church/religion so long as they are morally willing.

In return, the Church/religion in question obeys the secular law. Until Islamic countries and nations with large Muslim populations successfully separate Church and state, the abuses will mount. This is possible. a notable example is Turkey, and to a lesser extent, Indonesia. Some nations, e.g Malaysia (although this is a bad example) allow a Shari’a law system for Muslims and a civil law system for others. Singapore also has such a thing, to a lesser extent.

Nearly no religions are inherently bad, but some are simply more perfect than others. It is up to us, as free men and women, to decide what those are. No one-Muslim, Christian, has the right to force this upon others. I see the work of the brothers, priests, monks and sisters across the world, and it is what has led me to start believing in Catholicism. Thank you.

The Vatican has admitted dialogue with Islam is very difficult…and the media replayed Pope Benedict’s controversial remarks over and over to agitate people…

the seculars are allowing the Muslims access into Western countries in the past in exchange for oil; now with the falling of morals and faith, to use Islam to further desecrate and destroy any vestiges of Christian voice that opposes the Free Sex and Death Cultures. The Zionists have allowed the Muslims to build a mosque right in front of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem…

And I might add, although I have great respect for the Jewish people, everyone I know who comes back from the Holy Land most disturbed by the behavior of some Jews towards other faiths…

Of course, we know it will eventually backfire on the seculars…A Protestant shared with me that what they got from the Holy Spirit in their small fellowship group is the world has to go through this process to see the Truth, to see their own folly in seeking comfort and turning away from God.

I also read many years ago when my children were small that some day Mary would bring the Mohammedans to Christ…

I want to write out a prayer on another thread written for the Children of Gaza…

Well-stated, KathleenGee 👍

Do you have any proof about “killing Jewish babies in the Holy Land”? The Crusades were a noble and necessary enterprise that would have succeeded if the secular leaders of it held true to the simple tasks of taking and holding Jerusalem and not trying to carve out vast kingdoms and personal wealth for themselves.

Sorry, but it is secularism and the marginalizing of Christianity in Western civilization that has led to such actual horrors as the current wave of Muslim invaders raping and rioting. Religion needs to be brought back into government, not kept out of it. We do not know better than God.

I debated whether or not to respond to the phrase as well…Ex Lucis, appreciate your observations…

The Christians in the Holy Land were crying out for help for 400 years before the Pope finally mobilized the Crusades to deliver them…

In the meantime, there were some good Muslim leaders who allowed the Jews and Christians to worship…At the time of the beginning of the First Crusades, the Muslim leader was fanatical Islamic and began persecuting the Christians, and pilgrims going to the Holy Land were being attacked and murdered by newly converted Seljuk (spelling) Turks.

So it was no shot gun approach by the Church to come into the Holy Land…

Also, please note that Mohammed saw and rode past Jerusalem but was not interested…His followers created myths about him, saying he went to Jerusalem on a horse in a dream, and by golly, he ascended into heaven at the very place of the destroyed third Temple of Judaism.

It is also said that place was the former St. Mary of Justinian, a Roman Catholic Church, that was mainly destroyed by Islam. There was no claim to the Holy Land until the later followers of Mohammed created this…So whatever, Islam staked the Holy Land for themselves through ill gotten gains.

About the Inquisition, I don’t know if I will ever make the time to read the documents…that were finally opened around 2003…but there are sources on the internet who have reviewed them and given their observations…you may want to find out…but the Inquisition was greatly distorted in the 1800’s by two American men, offshoots of the Stone Campbell movement types, virulently anti-Catholic. The Church Dominicans exonerated many people brought forward to them.

Also, I worked in a former European colony, and the type of Catholics who came there to make money, were not the nicest people I would care to associate with either…the priests so many times tried to speak to their hearts to be more kind, but they were so hard…and finally fled at the fall of the colony.

If you’re getting shot down by people because of your faith, then yes, you’re a martyr. However, if you’re shot to death because you’re trying to blow yourself up and kill everyone, then that’s just self defense in their part and attempted murder in your part, therefore sending you to hell. You’re not a martyr if you’re TRYING to make yourself a martyr. If all the extremist Muslims just went home and went about their business there wouldn’t be any problems. They’re instigating the conflict.
