Is it a sin for Catholics to do Yoga?

That should settle this debate.
Again, the warnings still apply. As exorcists have noted, a gateway into the demonic. After all, they should know. Obviously if you don’t believe in wicked spirits and fallen demonic angels who seek to deceive man, then you won’t see anything wrong with practicing yoga…

I talked to a very wise priest, and he said that it is not, as long as it is solely for the exercise. At that point, it’s just stretching. Yoga is not bad if it’s simply a workout. If you’re doing it for Hindu spiritualism, it’s fine, because yoga, in and of itself, is not a religion. If we as Christians weren’t allowed to practice anything created by non-Christians, we couldn’t do algebra either, as that was created by Muslims!

This…exactly my point…this x 1000

Which exorcists and what notes?
Both the current and and former chief exorcist at the Vatican, namely Fr. Gabriel Amorth and Fr. Cesare Truqui. You can read his book and news stories out if.

That all depends on what priest you ask. Some priests don’t even believe in the devil and roll their eyes at church teaching. But an exorcist who has dealt with wicked spirits and demonic possession will tell you to steer clear from it. Again, yoga means ”union with god” and the practice involves body and spirt, just as the lady in the video above meditating for inner peace.

That’s the who…now the what? I looked it up, and I don’t walk away with your opinion…maybe you can support it using the Fr.s.

I think we have to be just as careful about superstition.

Are you familiar with the other limbs of yoga? Like truth, chastity, etc?

So where do you draw the line between holding a simple stretch an “demonic” yoga?

Apparently you have to be very careful when stretching because you do the wrong stretch and are committing the automatic mortal sin of idolatry.

Contorting one’s body into Hindu worship poses and breathing, meditating and repeating mantras seeking inner peace.

That sounds like a reasonable place to draw a line, but your other posts indicate that this isn’t really where you draw the line.

When the Vatican’s chief exorcist who has conducted over 50000 exorcisms says that yoga is satanic and it leads to evil, we have to take his words seriously. Following will be a very useful read.
Catholic Answers’ own Jimmy Akin has researched these claims:

The fact is that Fr. Amorth is an individual given to making sweeping statements that are not firmly grounded and that are subject to a credulous mindset that is too ready to see possession (full-blown or not).

How else can one explain his claim–in his book An Exorcist Tells His Story –to have performed thirty THOUSAND exorcisms in a nine year period? That’s nine exorcisms PER DAY for nine years–Sundays included !

SNIP

There is no “chief exorcist” position at the Vatican. Fr. Amorth is a priest of the Diocese of Rome who happens to be one of a number of exorcists there. He is the most well-known and prominent of them, but this does not give him the position of “chief exorcist of the Vatican.”

Again, Yoga involves Hindu deity poses, breathing, meditating, and chanting mantras. if you are doing yoga you are involving all of those elements. Here’s another example of typical Yoga class:

It was not. Ancient Egypt formalized algebra long before the Mohammadans.

But didn’t Pythagoras actually have a religion or spirituality to hos mathematics?

From Wikipedia:

“Amorth became an official exorcist in June 1986, under the tutelage of Fr. Candido Amantini.[[4] (Gabriele Amorth - Wikipedia) He was a member of the Society of St. Paul, the congregation founded by James Alberione in 1914. In 1990, he founded the International Association of Exorcists and was president until he retired in 2000.

In October 2000, it was reported he had performed over 50,000 exorcisms (which ranged from “a few minutes” to “several hours” in length).[6] In March 2010, he said that the number had increased to 70,000. By May 2013, he said he had performed 160,000 exorcisms in the course of his ministry.[8] Note that according to Father Amorth, each exorcism does not represent a victim of possession, but rather each exorcism is counted as a prayer or ritual alone, and some possession victims required hundreds of exorcisms.[9]

Edward Peters, a professor of canon law, finds Amorth’s claim to have personally performed 30,000 exorcisms over 90 years “astounding”. Even accepting Amorth’s claim that only 94 of his 30,000 exorcisms represented full-blown possession, that would have required roughly one case a month to be thoroughly examined and processed over nine years with hardly a break.[10] Amorth believes that a person may be possessed by more than one demon at once, sometimes numbering in the thousands, which is what accounts for the high number of reputed demons exorcised.
