The Church does not tell us specifics of fasting other than we should consume less food-- one full meal and two smaller meals sufficient to maintain strength-- and no snacking between meals.I was really trying to fast today but I’m not exactly sure how to fast so for breakfast I had a real small amount of cereal barely anything. At lunch I had a small scone but around 5 I got so hungry I started to feel dizzy and my hands were shaking so I ate a small pastry and at dinner time, 8:30 for me I had a big dinner that my wife cooked, I was so hungry at this point. Did I not fast right? I really was trying.
What is necessary to maintain strength is going to be different for each person depending upon age, health, and things like the type of work we do, etc. Perhaps you should eat a little more at each of your small meals next time in order to prevent feeling dizzy.
