As I said before, I don’t smoke the buddha anymore.
But,we would compare the flavors of the various strains.And I can see where in the future when it is legalized(God help us!)that there will be pot tasting get together in the same fashion as wine tasting.
I’m not condoning its use.I’m just saying that I believe it will be legal.
…sign of the times and all that…
It already is legal in some states. I heard on the news the other day that Michigan or Wisconsin legalized possession of a small amount. And even though I have never been to one, I have heard there are places in California that you can go in to smoke similar to a pub to have a drink.

I also understand that Federal Law stands opposed to State Law in some locations.

I wasn’t trying to say that Jesus infered marijuana as a plant in the scripture passage I quoted. I was trying to show Christ indicated that sin is something within that comes out of us, not something that comes into us from the outside. He was not a “legalist” and in fact took the Pharisees to the woodshed for being overly legalistic and for not understanding the intent and spirit of the law.
I was making a joke.As your signature implies.I thought you were doing the same.
Sorry.

sorry ed, but i need some evidence it is harmful.

maybe in the same way as cigarettes, but thats it, and alchohol is harmful to in its own way as to its legality, that changes by time and place

as to the idea th at you can take 1 drink and not be drunk, but you cant take 1 toke and not be high.

thats nonsense, you dont go from being not drunk, to drunk at some predetermined limit, its a continuum, same way with pot.

further let me say that there is a huge difference between drunk, and high

they had pot long ago, in fact they dug up a grave the other day where some chinese guy had been buried with his stash, 2700 years ago.

scripture says not to be a drunkard, it says nothing about pot, yet they knew of it, its a weed that grows everywhere in the world.

why?

i have to assume it is because pot is harmless in moderation, much less dangerous then alchohol.

in fact the only thing harmful is smoking it, eating it would not be.

bottom line, we made the wrong substance legal
I know some people who I have often thought it would help to chill out. One thing is for sure, it would definitely help those who do not have an appetite … munch … munch … munchies … LOL

I presume everybody here is familiar with a publication entitled “The Emperor Wears No Clothes”?(not the kids story-it’s about the abolition of marijuana by BIG MONEY)

No, I have never read that version of the story. Can you give us a reference to where it can be located? I still think that one day BIG MONEY will be the reason it becomes legalized by the Feds because of the tax revenue it can bring in.

I am of the belief that any action an individual engages in can and will be construed as sinful by someone in this forum. Try it, and you will see.

There is no doubt that a potentially controversial subjective action will elicit even greater doom for you. Kick it up a notch and see what I mean.

What you are all missing is the root, the base ten. We will all be better served living our lives in course with the commandments. It is not necessary to define sins individually.

Enjoy your life, it may be shorter than you think. Jesus drank alcohol and may have smoked canibas, we just will never know now, will we.

Smoke up, Johnny - Have a great time - just don’t put yourself or anyone else in harms way - be responsible for the sake of God.

Legalizing marijuana is a bad idea:

ok i looked at it, that stuff isnt true for most people. i cant refute it without getting into personal information about my education, and specifically my work. but please take my word that most of that stuff is not true.

that is the specific kind of media i am talking about, all scare tactics, little truth.

further it comes from a governmental body that lists in its name ‘mental hygiene’

kind a mcCarthy ring to it aint there.

I suddenly feel guilty for posting this link.Although anyone with internet could have found it by just entering the right words.
I DO NOT condone the use of marijuana.In my mind it is a sin.So, for me it is a sin.I fear I may have caused a few people to stumble in their walk with Jesus by posting it and I wish I could remove the link.
Marijuana is easily an obsessive subject.Especially by persons seeking to justify their use of it.I also know that it is popular among youths to try and stand for a cause.
This is a cause I DO NOT support.
Yet again, my only consolation is I now have ANOTHER reason to humble myself before the Lord and seek His absolution and or method of reparation.
I screwed up.

Thank you Hugh for your comments. I would like to also add that we should do nothing to make a brother or sister fall -

“Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way. As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.

So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.”

i assure you, i am at least as devout as you, and i find no sin in its moderate use, we can all stumble on our own. you have not sinned

What an odd coincidence that I just posted the same scripture in my posts on my vegan lifestyle!😊

Thank you Ed for your opinion. Do you think we should also go back to the days of prohibition?
This is not an opinion. Go to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention web site. Facts are facts. Intentionally harming your mind and body is wrong.

I would like to point out that good decisions are made with facts, not opinions. Just because you or your buddies think it’s OK, doesn’t mean it should be promoted.

Peace,
Ed

Catechism
2211 The political community has a duty to honor the family, to assist it, and to ensure especially:
  • the freedom to establish a family, have children, and bring them up in keeping with the family’s own moral and religious convictions;
  • the protection of the stability of the marriage bond and the institution of the family;
  • the freedom to profess one’s faith, to hand it on, and raise one’s children in it, with the necessary means and institutions;
  • the right to private property, to free enterprise, to obtain work and housing, and the right to emigrate;
  • in keeping with the country’s institutions, the right to medical care, assistance for the aged, and family benefits;
  • the protection of security and health, especially with respect to dangers like drugs, pornography, alcoholism, etc.;
  • the freedom to form associations with other families and so to have representation before civil authority.
2291 The use of drugs inflicts very grave damage on human health and life. Their use, except on strictly therapeutic grounds, is a grave offense. Clandestine production of and trafficking in drugs are scandalous practices. They constitute direct co-operation in evil, since they encourage people to practices gravely contrary to the moral law.

I believe smoking weed is a sin because it leads to atleast 3 of the deadly sins: sloth, gluttony, and lust

Sloth - You may not be lazy at first, but try an hour or two later. No wonder potheads are always staring mindlessly at the TV.

Gluttony - Pretty self-explanatory (munchies anyone?)

Lust - Definitely heightens sexual impulses and sensations

Excess alcohol leads to these as well.
