Is it a sin or sinful to smoke marijuana?

Now if marijuana would become decriminalized, o do not believe it would be a sin to use the substance responsibly. However I am opposed to the decriminalization of marijuana, but that is a topic for another thread…
I am still on the fence for recreational use, but I feel the punishment is too strong for such a minor offense. Jail is not an appropriate sentence and is a waste of taxpayer money, IMO.

God bless.🙂

Now I do not want to assume, so you can clear this up for me. Now you feel it should be decriminalized is this correct. Now you stated you are exploring recreational use correct. Now does smoking it not make you stoned? Now I do not want to assume but why would you be against it, if you are exploring recreations use, and think it should be decriminalized? I am asking, I am showing why I assumed. Now why would those words lead me to assume you are against it. But again you can explain it to me now… I am asking?
In my situation, I do not smoke to get stoned. I only need a very little bit to reap the medicinal benefits.

For recreational use, at this point, I feel it is a sin IF it is against the law. I would not be opposed to it being decriminalized and regulated similar to alcohol, but I understand not everyone feels this way…

Absolutely smoking it could make you stoned, depends how much is smoked.

I was a little confused by your second to last question. Hopefully I answered it to your satisfaction. If not, please clarify and I will try again.

God bless.

ETA: I am not personally exploring recreational use, just my thoughts on the issue.🙂

What I was saying is the reason I assumed that you were not against it, and still seem to come to that assumption is the way you feel it should regulated like alcohol. Now if I would say I feel it should be legalized, decriminalized same in my book, would you not ASSUME that I am not against it.

Another question, just curious. What would be the benefit to make a drug, it is considered a drug and make it legal for recreational use in a healthy adult? And while I agree the more you smoke the more effect takes place, how would that effect again on a healthy person be a benefit? Rather they smoked a little or alot? What would the benefit be?

Also Ana what exactly did this response mean. I don’t want to assume or jump to conclusions:😃
I wasn’t *exactly *talking to you.:o

I don’t like finding myself in the position of feeling like I need to defend myself. I don’t mind defending my positions, or my beliefs. That is one of the reasons I enjoy participating in these threads. BUT I find it extremely uncomfortable to be defending myself against fasle accusations about my intentions or motives, against my very self. It hurts. It helped when you explained that you didn’t read my earlier posts. Until then, it seemed as if I was being accused of not accurately protraying myself (being deceptive), and that other’s knew better than I, my REAL position. It was weird and made my heart not feel good.

But the reason why I said I was “spitting out the bait,” was not primarily to avoid the hurt that comes from being misunderstood, but because I am trying to wean myself from the need to defend my self. From the need for others approval. I saw myself as taking the bait, because I was lured into reacting in a way, I am trying to change. I knee jerked, and sought understanding, instead of being silent and offering it up. So, I was kind of talking to myself.

Sorry, I missed this post.

[Assumption.
I smoke pot. I don’t lie, nor do I con anyone. If someone chooses to con others or lie, then those things would be a sin, not smoking pot. You make a lot of assumptions.

My husband knows I smoke, my two spiritual advisors know I smoke, my confessors know I smoke (all three), my doctor knows I smoke, AND my employer knows I smoke. Incidently, my employer is an ex police officer and her husband just retired from the FBI. Lying is definitely a sin, but last I checked this thread was about marijuana.🤷

Marijuana does not cause people to lie. Lying is a choice. I live in a state where it is illegal. If someone asks, **and they have a right to know
, I’ll tell them. I believe that marijuana should be decriminalized (especially for medicinal purposes) and I stand up for what I believe. Now, the fact that the law unjustly persecutes those that smoke marijuana could cause people to be tempted to lie, to avoid persecution. But that is because of the unjust law, not because marijuana CAUSES people to lie. That is ridiculous.

WHO does? I don’t. No sin there.

The law is the problem in this scenario, not the person. Although you might want to consider running in different circles.

Absolutely, especially for not doing anything wrong, like smoking marijuana in moderation.

… inevitably slips into apathy? Not when used in moderation. Apathy is a sin, smoking pot in moderation is not.
I use marijuana therapuetically. It helps me tremendously and I THANK GOD for it. It hasbeen an answer to prayer, and in my situation has HELPED my family because it helps me to be emotionally healthier. I already relayed my story earlier in the thread, so I am not going to repeat it now. But the differance pot has made in my life is one I am not willing to give up because people have watched too much Reefer Madness or sat through a DARE class with it’s scare tactics… It’s not mine nor my family’s fault, that illinformed and brainwashed people continue to spread and exaggerate the ill effects of marijuana. The Church I will listen too, ignorant people … NO.

I recently read of 3 drunk driving accidents that could have resulted in the DEATH of innocent people … therefore BRING BACK THE PROHIBITION!! … OR we could persecute the drunk drivers for DRIVING DRUNK (which is a sin.)

Merry Christmas, and God bless you as well.🙂

Ana:

If what you are stating hereinabove is true, then, I am truly sorry that you have an affliction that requires the medicinal use of marijuana. If, on the other hand, you are not telling the truth, then I rest my case.

What is your affliction?

Merry Christmas and
God Bless,

🙂 my affliction is anger,i haven’t smoked my tiny bit for a week now,yes my growly side is starting to seep out.especially today…
lucky are those who’s minds don’t turn ever word they hear against themselves, anilyse each spoken word, every action whether precieved or not.yes pot dulls the mind which in my case is not a bad thing,

I am really glad you put it that way.

Leaving my own personal life aside (for now), I would like to comment that for those who are against the use of medical marujuana, your position DEPENDS upon assuming the person who claims to need it is a LIAR.

Then I’ve come across the ones that say …

… EVEN IF they are telling the truth, (thinking to themselves that they are probably lying) then they are obligated to try every single possible pharmaceutical alternative available, and only AFTER they have tried every single one, THEN it might be okay, but it really isn’t since they are probably lying anyway.* *

I myself held this position, and it rested on my assumption of dishonesty towards those who claimed to need it… Until I found myself on the other side. I am grateful to be free from thinking they are all liars more than anything else. It is very spiritually unhealthy, and encouraged a very subtle form of pride.

God bless everyone here at CA during this wonderful and grace filled time of year.🙂

Rub it in why don’t you? It’s FREEZING here tonight!!:winter:

ha ha … so it makes you nicer? 😃
gosh no it just make me tolerable to others(meaning that others can tolerate me)…it slows my mind down a notch so i can focus on a subject rather than flying through it,and on to something totally different, while still on the orginal subject.

Hi, Ana:

Well, it’s pretty chilly here tonight. I think its about 74 degrees right this moment. Oops! Sorry. 😉

Merry Christmas and

I do not think we have carte blanche just to do whatever we want whenever we want. Nor do I think it is OK to act irresponsibly. Each person must judge their own circumstances and conscience and decide for themselves on this subject. Your telling me it is not OK, doesn’t make it not OK for me. Maybe for you it is not OK. But don’t pass judgement on me. I’m sure if you are honest with God in prayer, you will have plenty on your own plate to deal with.
Each heart must decide, the Holy Spirit guides us as to right and wrong. What is right for one may be wrong for another.

“Judge not, lest ye be judged”.

Well said brother, and that goes for all of us! :yup:

Being more tolerable would be *nicer *to be around.😃

I notice CWbetts hasn’t been able to and I’ll bet you can’t either.
Again, I responded with capitals and exclamations to his insulting my employers with an unfair and incorrect accusation. Do you defend this type of behaviour? Is that what the thumbs up is for? Or all manners aside, as long as the person shares YOUR opinion?

I didn’t ask you to quote your own posts, I didn’t accuse YOU of anythng, I asked you. BIG differece.
I asked you to quote the post I was RANTING because of someone disagreeing with me. You didn’t, because there is not one.
I did not insist on knowing your motives whatsoever. I just agreed that you were ranting. Reread my post above.
Oh sorry, this is the quote you are trying to say is a rant?
This is not a rant. And as you notice, there are NO accusations on my post, only questions.
Ana, I used the thumbs up because I did think you were ranting. I have every right to voice this. I am sorry if you didn’t like it. I also think asking a loaded question is a rant. Clearly you were being sarcastic in your line of questioning.

You never acknowledged that what you said *"Or all manners aside, as long as the person shares YOUR opinion? " *was indeed incorrect and somewhat mean spirited, ie. a rant. I do not agree with CW on this issue. It behoves me to point out that you never did admit your inappropriate statement toward me. Your response was simply defensive rather than apologetic.

But really, I was just trying to give you a heads up as to how you were sounding. I wasn’t trying to chastise you at all. Your reply to my thumbs up was completely out of anger. See above: those questions are subtle rantings because you disagreed with my thumbs up. You responded with questions designed to bite back.

I apologize if you didn’t like my thumbs up. I still hold that I have a right to agree with anything said on this forum. I used a mild thumbs up. That is not a rant nor is it a completely out of line statement like the one you fired at me.

I don’t disagree with you. But now the ranting is over and you seem like a very pleasant and nice person. It helps to admit when we fly off the handle. It helps when others point out our misgivings. I did not do it in a mean spirited way, I used a smily face thumbs up. Absolutely no grudges being held on my end. I forgive your misgivings toward me because you are just a passionate loving person defending people you care about. Can you forgive my smily face thumbs up? Knowing I have a right to my opinion and knowing it wasn’t meant to hurt you but to make you aware of how you sounded; can you forgive?

None of this is relevant. It is in the past and done. No hard feelings. Peace my friend. I’ll see you around the forum.
Have a very Merry Christmas and be well. :christmastree1:
