Would it be lying?
What is the “TOS”?Would it be lying?![]()
Terms of Service. It’s basically the fine print which you have to agree to every time you open an e-mail account, or a member account on a website. What is the “TOS”?
It’s neither a sin nor lying because I do it all the time!Would it be lying?![]()
Just what does a “gaffer” do anyway?Nobody reads the TOS. Reading the TOS is simply a sign that you have too much time on your hands. Personally, I prefer to sit through all movie credits to see what type of film was used, only to be disappointed because often there is no credit given.
So how would you go about saying that you really did read a TOS? Would you say, “I swear it”?it’s not lying since nobody is deceived
A gaffer is responsible for the lighting, and reports to the director of photography. Which is a relief to me, because I had always thought that after reaching a certain age, I was a gaffer.Just what does a “gaffer” do anyway?
So it’s not a sin so long as everyone else does it that way and it’s an inconvenience to have to read them?I used to work in the mortgage business. If everybody read every document that was placed in front of them at closing, no sale would ever get closed. And many of the documents they sign have statements certifying that they have read them.
I knew a lawyer who was also a real estate investor. He would just say, ‘all right, give me the docs’ and start signing everything without reading.
CAF has rules? Oh yeah, I did read them at some point. But that’s different. They are written in English and are somewhat brief.I’m shocked at how many here say it’s not lying. just because something is not face to face doesn’t mean it isn’t deceptive… For an example:
**I have read, and agree to abide by the Catholic Answers Forums rules.
**
You had to check that to get into this forum. If you didn’t read the rules how can you justify promising to abide by them?? Why do you think the rules were put there?
Well, I wouldn’t call it a sin, unless it’s an attempt to defraud. I also worked for the government, and there are so many documents that require signatures that state: “I have read and understand the forgoing…” Believe me, nobody has read, and nobody understands. Some of the bureaucrats think they do, but that’s just because they haven’t studied it enough. So it’s not a sin so long as everyone else does it that way and it’s an inconvenience to have to read them?
I believe he holds something for somebodyJust what does a “gaffer” do anyway?
Since clicking the box pertaining to the TOS is anonymous, there is no way you are bearing false witness against ANYONE! By being anonymous you are in no way a “witness” to anything. The TOS box is simply legal gobbledy-gook that has no real bearing on a free, anonymous forum. It simply is put here as part of the software package that produces the boards which we all use.Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Like I said, because it is anonymous it has no legality. In order to “bear false witness” the witness must be known. If he is unknown, he is no “witness”, thus can not bear falsely. So if it’s not a sin to say you read them when you didn’t, Does that also mean it’s not a sin for me to include in them language in one that ensures everyone who says they read them owes me lots of money? Cause I could use some extra cash…![]()
