ASK GOD and then listen carefully

End ALL of your prayers with THY Will, NOT my will be done.

Blessings,

From Revelations of Saint Bridget which seems to imply before the fall, everyone was meant to be virgins:

“Along with shame over the transgression, there also sprang up a disordered impulse, especially in the reproductive organs. Yet, in order that this impulse might not be unproductive, it was by God’s goodness turned to good, and the act of carnal union was established by divine commandment in order that nature might bear its fruits.”

If you paste this quote into google, it goes on to say that virginity is superior to marriage (which is why Jesus chose to be born of a Virgin). It DOES not say that holiness cannot be attained in marriage however.

Celibacy is better for those who can handle it, but let everyone who would take a vow of celibacy first count the cost, lest he should take a vow and fail to keep it.

That interpretation is at odds with Scripture. The commandment, “Be fruitful and multiply,” was given before the Fall. For Adam and Eve to remain virgins forever would have transgressed this command.

Yes, celibacy is considered the “higher calling”, but not everyone can handle the higher calling.
