Is it discriminatory that Airlines only allow pretty flight attendants?

I’m catching a flight in an hour. Should I score all the attendants?

Will they be able to help you put things in the upper bin
Can they open the emergency doors if necessary?

Scoring done.

Why about flight attendant alone?
Choosing Actresses, hotel receptionists and even your wife - preference is to pretty and good-looking women. No law can allege discrimination in such cases.

Yes,on their inner beauty and how much they honour their parents etc😉

I don’t fly often , and when i do its with American to go to Florida, just as a personal preference. A lot of the stewardesses are veteran airline staff and have been on the job for many a moon. They are attractive enough I guess, but not stunning beauties- maybe back when they were hired?

Perhaps with upstart airlines, its different? I have never flown on Spirit or whatever.

Here is another example. I know a person whose grandma needs a caretaker 24/7. She is a very shy and conservative person and the work requires body cleaning and changing diapers. Thus, her family was pretty sure they needed to discriminate what kind of caretaker they would hire. They went exclusively after women. And gave preference to people over 40. They discriminated. And it is fine.
That’s because of modesty reasons though.
Being beautiful could be a qualification for a job as well. Looking at beautiful people (beautiful things actually) usually makes one feel better. This is scientifically proven.
So “ugly” women make people feel anxious and nervous lol?
And making clients more comfortable is very important in stressful moments such as a flight.
I’m not sure if I agree that beauty will do that.
I purposely won’t fly some of the Asian carriers because they seem unprofessional and while the hostesses might be trained to focus a lot on their looks/picked for their looks, they don’t act/seem mature enough to be calm and assuring in a crisis.
To be fair,in Australia there are some hostesses who are both attractive and mature/sensible though.

I’ve flown a lot this last year, and I honestly don’t pay enough attention to the attendants to notice what they look like. The idea that passengers would scrutinize their appearance that hard is pretty creepy.

Hotel receptionist would be the same case.
Regarding actresses, this was more so relating to in past.
It is still very relevant today but not as much as in the past as these days sometimes women can get acting roles even when not thought traditionally atractive such as Tilda Swinton,Toni Colette,Rachel Dratch, and Whoopi Goldberg.

edit: maybe not so much Tilda Swinton as I have seen photos of her when she was young and she looked very attractive and appealing in a unique way.

All said said is that beauty makes people feel better. Any other conclusion besides this is on you.

And you replied my message disagreeing with me by excluding the one important part I said “BESIDES TECHINAL QUALIFICATIONS”. Bad move.

I’m just wondering, would you be ok with seeing an extremely ugly hotel receptionist or flight attendant serving you?

Please relax,no one is fighting/arguing with you.
My posts are just my opinion:)

Nope. Checking people out so hard that you get uncomfortable if they aren’t hot enough is creepy.

While probably not legal to this,it is common knowledge that (female) applicants for flight attendants will usually only get the job if they are very pretty.
There’s a reason why cosmetics is a billion dollar industry… But even you probably discriminated against others when dating or searching for a spouse?
