Many Protestants don’t “know”! They go against His church and therefore against Jesus Himself!

As it is not to our credit that we are Catholics; it’s not their fault to be born/brought up as Protestants. The two of us Christians are born into either believe. How in Christ’s name could we ever condemn those who are not our RC believe (that goes for both and any Religion).

Let’s remember; Pope Benedict prayed in a mosque together with Moslems – in a synagogue together with Jews. Benedict accepts and granted audience to all religions and so did Jesus when He spoke to sinners and non-Jews in a very loving way.

Pharisees called Jesus therefore in Mat 11:19 names like: “The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.” But wisdom is proved right by her actions.

Let’s not become guilty of suchlike wrong judging, which would turn us into Pharisees for we really don’t know how God sees this person of other (Christian) believe he’s born into.

When we read in Catholic or Protestant forums world-wide, one gets the impression, there’s a civil war going on. Let’s beware of such evil thing and take care not to become sinners for our forbidden judging.

Everybody who believes in Jesus Christ, His salvation, his resurrection, is Member of our huge Christian family. Could we meet in heaven this barbarian killer who was crucified right of Jesus and say to him: Your’e not to be here!?

Even in our very own worldly family many members have very different views of things. But we still don’t say, they don’t belong to us. How could we dare and such draw God’s anger upon us?!
This badman on the cross on the right of Jesus surely wasn’t religious at all, but what did Jesus tell him?
Yet today you will be together with me before My Father in heaven.
How wrong would have been our judgement here.

They are lost! They will be judged by God alone, as it should be, but If it quacks like a duck it can’t be an OWL!

Do really educated non-Christians " Know" that Jesus is the REAL savior? If so do they still reject Him due to pride, etc.

No, they don’t know that Jesus is God. If hey do, they convert. Most of them don’t believe it, as most of their life, they where made to believe different by others. Still – many baptized RC’s don’t believe either. Both – if they have the gift to understand, are likely to be lost – but this decision is not ours to make. Is it? Jesus said so, but only He is to judge – not we.

To us Christians it’s never, and not at all enough to be good - no way.

But it is a good start!

But why would he think that any Christian (I don’t know if he pointed at Christians) would consider the unborn John Babtist an “abstract fetal tissue”?

In Lukas 1:41 is written: German: “Als Elisabet den Gruß Marias hörte, hüpfte das Kind in ihrem Leib. Da wurde Elisabet vom Heiligen Geist erfüllt.”
English: “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit…”
And then the “Ave Maria” was established by the welcome of Elizabeth to Mary.

Surely a Priest doesn’t get mixed up with the two un born babies; Jesus and John Babtist.
I should think rather I must be befogged and mix up things.

No, over here we never heard of that priest. Not even my priest friend ever heard of him, I asked him today.
But then priests hardly speak too well English here – they know Latin, Hebrew and Greek

When I was young, (which was about at the time when the dinosaurs lived), there where some priests like this one from po18guy’s link I heard now. He speaks very good (even I understand him at once as clearly as he speaks).

These kind of priests we had 40/50 years ago, had over here funny names like “God’s machine-gun”.

Anyhow: Reading here a never-ending discussion titled:

I think I would as usual explode in my answers and really be kicked out. So, I better didn’t answer.

The holiest of all Holies, Mary, honoured by the grace of God with the birth-giving of Jesus (who is God) when He came to us as human, and Mary was taken into heaven with her body as great honour by God - how on earth could a Christian ask such thing???
Even a protestant should never give room to such silly questions!

My parents and my fathers family however, where Protestants with 3 protestant priests in that family. One Prof. Dr. Dr. theol. in my age left (well, 15 years younger than I which doesn’t count at that age), stopped relations to me, as I am fundamentally Catholic. He teaches protestant students who will be protestant priests, in Bonn University.

On both sides – churches as members of the church - are severe mistakes made in that direction. Either sometimes forget brotherly love. We really ought to follow Pope Benedicts example in this way, who prayed together with Jews and Moslems.

Funny you still measure in Fahrenheit. The old blinker (1686–1736) had such a silly system. Then the Swedish Mr. Anders Celsius found 1742 a far more reasonable measuring of temperature, and we adopted the better one at once as practical, whilst the conservative Britons stuck o’course to Fahrenheit’s funny scale. Finally here 134.176.128.63/fheit.html we find out what 78°F really is: It’s 25°C, cosy, whilst here in Germany it’s right now in spite of sunny weather, -7°C - ever so chilly

Never mind let’s be serious for a minute. I copied those 50 points of Fr. John Corapi for my (German) postings.
But then of course, I think, with most of it one needs a certain lot of faith to adopt or at least understand as real fundament for once life.
For instance it’s of course ever so true when he says: “The reversal of truth which makes the lights go out and darkness fall.”
Definitely so!
But atheists claim exactly this for Christians and say THEY - the Christians - live in that darkness. Atheists wanna live in the light THEY lightened – not the far more real light of God, as they are blind and deaf and lost sense of reality (nothing is more real than God). They don’t realize, that this light of theirs is nothing but the shine of hellish fire surrounding them, and they live to the pleasure of Satan and they live loud - not to “hear” the darkness grumbling over them, the destroying darkness that will eat them.

It’s then, when nonbelievers live loudest and in a kind of put on “happiness” and untrue contentment, that the voice of God can’t be heard and they can no longer realise they originate in God and will return to God. They don’t want to hear nor listen nor realize and fight against it without knowing who is their fellow combatant, as I noted here again in the other thread of a guy who was Catholic and now doesn’t believe a thing:

When people who had faith in God or at least “learned believe one time” and they loose this believe, they ALWAYS overdo it with a thousand arguments and keep arguing IN THE DIRECTION OF GOD (so God hears it “if and when he exists”): THERE IS NO GOD
This is simply their sometimes even unknowingly chosen way – psychologically even understandable - to explain TO GOD why they can’t believe in His existence - like: “Here you are God – you heard me explaining to these people why I don’t believe in you and you now finally understand why I of course quite naturally can’t believe in you?!” - with in the back of their mind; just in case there is God - which for good reasons can’t be proved.
Then they presume, they have some “insurance”, for God “surely will understand”.
They will never admit it’s something in this way of course.

Still; it’s not only completely wrong to chew the case over that way. In fact it’s offending God in the worse way possible.
Let us find words, to penetrate Gods existence including their eternal benefit of that fact into the completely closed brains of these atheists. But most of them have a solid wall around it and don’t want to listen – gives them another “excuse” in the direction of “oh, I didn’t know – how could I”.

I have not seen it credited to St Augustine. However, I don’t doubt you, That is probably why it is a favoriate of mine from Fr Corapi also! St Augustine is one of my other heros also. He wrote 2,500 books I have read maybe three completely . My Parish is named after his mother! So, in 18 years, I have learned a lot about him! My favoriate quote of his is: “Oh Lord, give me chastity, but do not give it yet.” ~ Funny Guy!

I always got a kick out of that one too-many of us are able to relate to it -for better or worse! You’re ahead of me. I finished his Confessions a month or so ago and am now struggling through City of God-almost there. The other quote in question-#62- you’ll find almost half way down your list-somewhat altered but not much. Another favorite that I didn’t notice there:

Back to normal :
Of course there are very many teachers of Church (my dict. tells me it’s “Doctor of the Church” in English (which I find funny) - oh well, they are in a way doctors though. Many gave us very good verdicts or proverbs, but let’s never forget, that best words of all, still originate from Jesus Himself.

And further more; when we tell these verdicts - that are great and helpful to us – nonbelievers won’t get it and take it in a narrow worldly way.
I myself quoted a short time to an absolute atheist, elder (even older than me), among others the word:
“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.”
He laughed and said: “Rubbish! Tell me just one sample. Ha - you can’t”.

In the shortness of time, you really can’t explain such people (who actually don’t want to hear). It’s near to impossible to tell them, that in fact you might realise Gods being in everything, when you live open eyed and open minded, which an atheist with his walled mind just can not.
And besides, when talking to heathens, you always have to be very careful, not to cause them talking blasphemy against God, that would go on your account then, because you caused it.

How would you explain the great word: "I have read in Plato and Cicero sayings that are wise and very beautiful; but I have never read in either of them: Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden.’’

He’ll laugh: “come to this mere imagination of someone who was crucified for such talking” (that’s precisely what I heard).

So; these words are ever so helpful to us who do believe and live in God, and we do earn the benefits of this believe already.
Instead then, it might be better to be good (especially to atheists) plus let them see, that we do not give up believe and trust in God when we are in dreadful situations (like the death of a beloved).
That’s what I meant by “it’s not enough to be good”.
Its neither enough in our relation to others, as we also have the strict order to love them - not just by words; nor enough in our relation to God, as we have to bring deeds on which we’ll be measured - as we are told in Mt 7,16:

I a local forum over here I read:
Oh this Buddhist is such a good man, he never did wrong. He surely will be taken to heaven right away - he’s a saintuch:

Now how on earth should any Christian think, that a person living in our Christian hemisphere, who says God doesn’t exist and Jesus was simply one of these preachers could be a Saint?

Here again we have the question IS IT ENOUGH TO BE GOOD?

Is it not a very relevant part of being good to believe in God?!
If a person is good, you feel “at home” when you are with this person. Can we feel “at home” with persons who do not believe in God?

I can’t avoid the feeling, that these persons rather are fiends or something like hollow images or even aliens that accidentally kind of live but are not really alive…

Sometimes I feel pity about them and try to tell them what they miss - in a very careful way and homeopathic doses at first - beginning alsways, that believe in God is foundation of MY life. But if they don’t want to hear and teach me it’s rubbish what Christians believe – I avoid them.
