Your assumptions are far fetched and unwarranted. You are very self righteous and yes- self absorbed. I’m glad you think you are one of the elect and we poor"crazy and lacking in faith"" and we “still have time and opportunity” to come to your state of spiritual perfection. You must be continually say"lord I am glad that I am not like these" us lacking faith.’ While we , poor slobs, are beating our breasts and saying"Be merciful to me O God a sinner".
Quoting of the Imitation of Christ any seer any, visionary does not impress me.Please deign to answer a comment with actual words from your own mind, instead of someone else’s.
Again I believe hyperbole and metaphor are the order of the day with dear Thomas. The analysis of “hate” in scripture has already been discussed- and I believe that applies with Thomas’ work. Some Medieval folks went a tad far in some of their disciplines and though they are not totally discouraged many are looked at with a wary eye and with the knowledge such things could be a sign of mental instability. Imitation of Christ is a great resource, great for reflection but is not infallible nor is it our way to Heaven. So quote all you want
You quote Paul on your signature- “the greatest is Love” that includes loving Yourself and Your Life that you’ve been given. Increase the Love in the world and in your heart -fight for a better world. that’s the example that Christ gave us- he didn’t sit back and bemoan the world but did as part of His mission , show us a better way.
