These are blessings that ought to make one joyful. Nobody here has anything against feeling joyful for these graces and blessings.These graces and blessings ought to lead one to thanksgiving!
On the other hand, Satan, and all his work, ought to be hated and despised.

Correct me if I am wrong, but for what I have been reading both Bruno and Robert are in agreement at least at this point with what we are to hate and what we should have thanks for both in the creations and the gifts of God. It just seems that you both have different ways of expressing it.
God created and blessed the creatures and all of His creation as very Good and He did so with man as well. All that He created He left to us as the custodians of His creation. All He created we should utilize without waste, have respect and care for as such. We are pathetic at this no doubt, especially in these modern times because we do everything possible to make things to make our lives more convenient and in doing so we trash everything around us from the air the sea. BUT, it is what we do in sin we should hate and learn from and beg forgiveness for and what God has created and left to our care we should become respectful and appreciative of. However, none of this life is equal to or more important than that which we are to seek in the eternal life.

Yes, I believe we are really all in agreement. The confusion arises when we insist on viewing the world as being entirely joyful or entirely hateful. Again, we live in a world of good and evil. It’s the lies and deceit of Satan that makes this world hateful, and the graces and blessing of God that makes this world joyful. So – we must hate Satan and his temptations with treasures of the world. “All this I will give you, when….” Mt 4,9

Nobody would even think the world is joyful only. Everybody knows, that the world is not entirely joyful; – due to the fact that great numbers of us, follow Satan instead of God. Important however; that WE are joyful, for the promises of God Jesus Christ told us, do and must make joyful.
Mind please, that the question here is to hate or not to hate THIS LIFE (not the world).
When Jesus says: …hate this world… or hate this life… He does not mean Gods Creation, the world itself, neither life itself, but the preference to the treasures of the world and the preference to this worldly life to that in God’s kingdom. Still - this life remains joyful, if we “have” God.

Love your neighbour, also means, to meet anybody with a loving heart and a true smile. Christians who hate life, can’t do so.

It sounds like we really do disagree. You cannot see how anyone can hate a life created by God and I cannot see how we can love a life tainted by sin and sorrow. Perhaps we can find common ground in the glory to come in the Kingdom of Heaven!

Yes, I believe you two gentlemen can find common ground. You both love life, but would not choose your life over God if you were put in the position to - isn’t that what “hating this life” is about…not hating life, but this life and losing it for God when called to, and should you be confronted by a situation that calls you to choose God over this life of yours, you would “hate this life and lose it” and choose God.

You make a big distinction between “life” and “this life.” I agree here, and I think we all love “live,” but I would still add that I hate “this life,” which is tainted with sin and sorrow.

I did not ruin my life by sin and sorrow, (not as far as I’d know) nor did all those who really believe in God.
Life is given to us as a very high value. Not only because it’s necessary to gain second life with God, but earthly life is considered valuable by God too as we read in many biblical verses, e.g. in1 Samuel 26,24: “…may the LORD value my life highly and deliver me from all difficulties."
It’s sin to take anybodies life, as it’s sin to take our own life. (wouldn’t be if it wouldn’t be worth a dime and to be hated).
But Robert Sock is right – surely we’ll find common ground in the glory to come in the Kingdom of Heaven. The one who’s wrong, has to spend a day off in former life and write in CAF

I understand your point. There is plenty in life that you don’t have much control over that disappoints, mainly the malicious of the sin and evil around you. Let us always remember the Sanctus we say in Mass. I thought of this thread at Mass today upon saying: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, hosanna in the highest! Peace be to you…and never lose your joy because of the evil around you.
