In general you did the right thing. However if the religious police are watching and you do that tho throw them off then it would be ok.

OP-no, it doesnt seem rude given the circumstances and the most important intention, which is of the heart, to worship Jesus.

Why do you need a special hour for weekly adoration if Our Lord is not exposed? Praying before the Tabernacle goes on non-stop during the day at churches around here. Are you referring to an all night event? That makes sense, but I wonder why not Exposition?

There is the problem. What a shame. But it has been debated before. I certainly feel sorry for you folks who do not have access to the Blessed Sacrament to pray.

Still the same Lord! I’m a little slow on the uptake, but what I have come to realize is that, since all of the elements are present, each mass is a Holy Hour with the Lord, and I try to behave the same before, during and after mass.

I agree.

Prostrating for prayer isn’t that common here, but mostly everybody prostrates - in the main aisle of the basilica - when arriving or leaving if the Blessed Sacrament is exposed.

Postrations before the Blessed Sacrament are not rude, they are an ancient sign of reverence.

I so miss the days when my body allowed me to remain face down before the Eucharist in the chapel.

Adoration is mostly planned out. Sometimes, those of us with scattered brains just drop in. Fine.
  1. If one knows the time of their holy hour and
  2. If one knows that they have trouble staying awake,
  3. Drink coffee or an energy drink 45 minutes before adoration - it takes your body about that long to metabolize the caffeine, thus…
  4. The spirit is willing and the flesh is revived.
  5. Win-win.
