That definitely sounds better, but even so, most married people don’t consider sharing finances to be a tremendous problem when compared to the good things about their families. When I was single, I would talk about the things that greater financial freedom allowed me to enjoy. For example, continuing my studies, travelling extensively, donating to charities that were important to me, being free to take advantage of opportunities that come up because other people aren’t depending on my income. That sort of thing.
